BI Admin-Architect

At Smith +Nephew, we are seeking an accomplished BI Admin-Architect to join our Data & Analytics practice, architecting, designing, and ensuring successful modern BI Platform architecture for the enterprise to support delivery of large-scale BI platform/Applications and many (data/Analytics/Quality/Research)-as-a-service offerings.

What will you be doing?

BI Admin responsibilities (60%):

·       Admin and Govern BI Landscape (PowreBI, Cognos) on Cloud (AWS, Azure, Snowflake).

·       Manage ecosystem effectively.

·       Implement technical, operational, and business processes to achieve data reliability, availability, and trust on BI platform.

·       Provide Administrative services to PowerBI and Cognos ecosystem.

·       Create infrastructure, environment, access management of BI eco system.

·       Create, publish, maintain and BI environment usage statistics.

·       Work with cross-functional stakeholders across the various business and technical teams to develop and execute effective data quality processes and procedures.

·       Provide policy, procedures and standards used by data analysts and database administrators which align with required standards

BI Architect responsibilities (40%):

As the BI Architect, you will understand the business needs, design, and support BI (PowerBI) Platform and implementing best practices in BI architecture with cloud-based data environment, responsible for BI & Analytics related Data engineering, Data preparation Frameworks and BI Data products for multiple domains, supporting the Analytics and Advance Analytics lifecycle on Snowflake DW on Azure or AWS and emerging technologies. 

Design BI Platform solution to support Semantics data layer for data/analytics as a service, develop capabilities to enable self-service analytics and capabilities, develop analytics processing layers to provide faster and accurate data and analytics services.

BI Architects will be following agile project management, support activities and best practice efforts.

You will be documenting Advance Analytics best practice for Data and Analytics department

Break based on Functions:

Strategy (15%):

Actively engage and contribute to the overall Analytical architecture strategy with specific emphases on design, development and maintenance of the frontend architecture, data semantic layers and standards for various data use & data warehousing projects in Snowflake, combined with other technologies.

Architect, construct and deliver Analytical Frameworks/Data products for complex analytics solutions across multiple domains, supporting the entire software development lifecycle

Design (40%):

·       Architect Analytical data use services, and develop capabilities to enable self-service analytics and insights programs

·       Lead, Design and develop data processing layers to incorporate data efficiency, speed , and quality

·       Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure data architecture alignment with key portfolio initiatives based on cost, functionality, and practicality.

·       Recommend solutions to improve new and existing Data Warehouse and Analytics solutions

Admin & Govern (30%):

·       Admin and Govern BI Landscape (PowreBI, Cognos) on Cloud (AWS, Azure, Snowflake).

·       Manage ecosystem effectively.

·       Implement technical, operational and business processes to achieve data reliability, availability, and trust on BI platform.

·       Provide Administrative services to PowerBI and Cognos ecosystem.

·       Create infrastructure, environment, access management of BI eco system.

·       Create, publish, maintain and BI environment usage statistics.

·       Work with cross-functional stakeholders across the various business and technical teams to develop and execute effective data quality processes and procedures.

·       Provide policy, procedures and standards used by data analysts and database administrators which align with required standards

·       Develop Data engineer and Operation support team (DataOps team).

Communicate & Train (15%):

·       Create documentation & presentations that define the current state environment and future state/capabilities for variety of data.

·       Participate in numerous communities of practice groups including development, data architecture, business intelligence and analytics, and project management

·       Drive Data performance improvement efforts and facilitate the training of devops individuals and teams

Location: Pune, India

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience. Requires mastery level knowledge of job area obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have good knowledge of project management.

·       Licenses/ Certifications:

·       Microsoft Azure certification is preferred.

·       PowerBI certificate is preferred.

What will you need to be successful?

You have a rich background in BI and Analytics area and well versed in large Data warehouse analytical environment support & implementations. You have worked hands-on with multiple Cloud DW, Big Data, and NoSQL technologies.

Experience includes:

·       Supported a fully operational BI Environment using PowerBI/Cognos/Tableau/Snowflake DW with technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, Azure Data Factory, Azure Monitor, AWS ecosystem or equivalent.

·       Understand SD/SN architectures and have deep experience in Data architecture.

·       Built modern approaches to automating BI framework, leveraged code repositories and continuous integration tools.

·       Proven hands-on experience with Snowflake utilities, SnowSQL, SnowPipe, and SlowAlert

·       5 total years in BI Platform support and administrative as well as BI Application development experience. 

·       Data Management experience including Data Governance, Master Data Management, Reference Data Management, and Metadata Management.

·       Customer-facing experience in a consulting or delivery capacity, preferably in the Medical Device or similar industry.

·       Deliver tasks leading indirect report up to 5 team members.

·       Agile project management methodology working experience is must.

·       Effective communication skills (written and verbal) to properly articulate complicated architecture design to management and other IT development partners.
