About The Role
YipitData turns billions of alternative-data points into signals that institutional investors and Fortune 500 customers depend on for high-stakes decisions. The data science team owns the methods behind those signals. We do causal inference on panel data, predictive modeling against earnings outcomes, and the white papers customers read.
This role pairs applied data science with AI-native tooling. You will own substantive analytical projects end-to-end. You will use LLM coding assistants as a primary collaborator across every phase of the work: exploratory analysis, production code, written deliverables. You will also help shape how the team builds with AI-native workflows, including tool selection, guardrails, and evaluation patterns.
This is a remote-friendly opportunity that can sit in NYC (where our headquarter is located), one of our office hubs (Austin, Miami, Cupertino), or anywhere else in the US.
As a Data Scientist, you will:
- Translate ambiguous customer questions into well-scoped data science projects spanning panel data, time series, and causal inference
- Engineer features from large alternative-data panels (transaction-level, invoice-level, web-scraped) using Spark
- Build, validate, and interpret causal and predictive models that link alternative-data signals to financial outcomes such as revenue, earnings surprise, and KPI inflections
- Author technical white papers and customer analyses for institutional investors and Fortune 500 readers, including figures, equations, and narrative framing for sophisticated readers
- Use LLM coding assistants and agents as a primary collaborator: prototype faster, write higher-quality code, audit your own work, and ship deliverables in compressed timelines
- Build internal LLM-driven tooling (agents, eval harnesses, retrieval pipelines) for the broader organization
- Partner with data engineering, product, and revenue teams to close the loop between signal development and the customer-facing product
- Set technical standards for the team: PEP 8, type hints, vectorized operations, reproducible notebooks, sound methodology, and citation discipline
You Are Likely to Succeed If:
- You have shipped multiple data science projects end-to-end and can point to quantifiable customer or business impact
- Your statistical foundations are real, not surface-level. You can defend a causal-inference method choice end-to-end under technical questioning
- You write Python that reads like the work of a senior engineer: clear naming, type hints, vectorized code, no premature abstraction
- You already use LLM coding assistants daily and can describe specific cases where they multiplied your output without compromising quality, and specific cases where you overrode them
- Writing is a primary skill for you, not a side hobby. You communicate as carefully on the page as you do in code
- You take ownership without prompting: you find the right question, ship the answer, and explain it
- Humility about what you do not know matters as much as confidence about what you do
- You read the literature, cite sources, and ground your work in established methods rather than reinventing them

About The Role:
We are seeking a Web Scraping Engineer to join our growing engineering team. In this hands-on role, you’ll take ownership of designing, building, and maintaining robust web scrapers that power critical reports and customer experiences across our organization. You will work on complex, high-impact scraping challenges and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our data ingestion processes are resilient, efficient, and scalable, while delivering high-quality data to our products and stakeholders.
As Our Web Scraping Engineer You Will:
Refactor and Maintain Web Scrapers
- Overhaul existing scraping scripts to improve reliability, maintainability, and efficiency.
- Implement best coding practices (clean code, modular architecture, code reviews, etc.) to ensure quality and sustainability.
Implement Advanced Scraping Techniques
- Utilize sophisticated fingerprinting methods (cookies, headers, user-agent rotation, proxies) to avoid detection and blocking.
- Handle dynamic content, navigate complex DOM structures, and manage session/cookie lifecycles effectively.
Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams
- Work closely with analysts and other stakeholders to gather requirements, align on targets, and ensure data quality.
- Provide support, documentation, and best practices to internal stakeholders to ensure effective use of our web scraped data in critical reporting workflows.
Monitor and Troubleshoot
- Develop robust monitoring solutions, alerting frameworks to quickly identify and address failures.
- Continuously evaluate scraper performance, proactively diagnosing bottlenecks and scaling issues.
Drive Continuous Improvement
- Propose new tooling, methodologies, and technologies to enhance our scraping capabilities and processes.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, evolving bot-detection tactics, and novel approaches to web data extraction.
This is a fully-remote opportunity based in India. Standard work hours are from 11am to 8pm IST, but there is flexibility here.
You Are Likely To Succeed If:
- Effective communication in English with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- 3+ years of experience with web scraping frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Playwright, or Puppeteer).
- Strong understanding of HTTP, RESTful APIs, HTML parsing, browser rendering, and TLS/SSL mechanics.
- Expertise in advanced fingerprinting and evasion strategies (e.g., browser fingerprint spoofing, request signature manipulation).
- Deep experience managing cookies, headers, session states, and proxy rotations, including the deployment of both residential and data center proxies.
- Experience with logging, metrics, and alerting to ensure high availability.
- Troubleshooting skills to optimize scraper performance for efficiency, reliability, and scalability.

About The Role
Signals is YipitData's B2B spend analytics platform for private equity and growth investors — helping them track software adoption, revenue, retention, switching, and competitive dynamics across thousands of companies. We're looking for a Tech Lead to own the technical direction of the Signals engineering team and drive the next phase of the product forward.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You'll set the technical vision, make architecture decisions, and write code — while also unblocking your team, raising the engineering bar, and working directly with product, data, and revenue stakeholders to shape what gets built. You'll lead a small, high-output team of engineers and QA, and be the person accountable for the quality, reliability, and velocity of everything the Signals team ships.
You'll be responsible for production-grade systems that customers and internal teams depend on daily. That means being responsive, reliable, and an excellent communicator — both when things are going well and especially when they're not.
The ideal candidate has led engineering teams before, treats AI coding tools as core infrastructure for how they work, and has a track record of shipping products that customers love — not just features that meet specs.
This is a remote-friendly opportunity that can sit in NYC (where our headquarters are located), one of our office hubs (Austin, Miami, or Mountain View), or anywhere else in the US. As a Tech Lead, You Will
- Own the technical direction of the Signals platform — architecture, system design, tech debt strategy, and engineering standards
- Lead a team of engineers and QA — set priorities, unblock work, conduct code reviews, and drive execution
- Stay hands-on: you're writing code, shipping features, and debugging production issues alongside your team
- Work directly with product, data, revenue, and customers to translate business problems into a technical roadmap
- Make the calls on build vs. buy, tradeoffs between speed and quality, and when to invest in infrastructure vs. features
- Own production reliability — you're the first person who cares when something breaks, and you drive the team to fix it fast and prevent it from happening again
- Raise the bar for the engineering team through mentorship, tooling improvements, and establishing best practices
- Use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex) as a daily force multiplier for yourself and your team — and push the team to adopt AI-native workflows that accelerate output
You Are Likely To Succeed If
- You have 6+ years of hands-on software development experience with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role — leading teams, making architecture decisions, and owning delivery
- You have shipped and maintained customer-facing SaaS products — you understand what it takes to build software that real users depend on
- You have strong system design instincts — you know how to architect systems, define clean interfaces, and make decisions that hold up as complexity grows
- You are stack-flexible: comfortable working across Python, TypeScript/React, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Databricks). You learn new tools fast and don't let unfamiliar tech slow you down
- You have an AI-native workflow — you don't just use AI tools, you've fundamentally changed how you and your team work because of them
- You can context-switch between writing code, unblocking a teammate, and presenting a technical tradeoff to a non-technical stakeholder — all in the same day
- You are responsive and reliable — you take ownership of production systems and communicate proactively, especially under pressure
- You lead by example — your team follows your standard because they see you hold yourself to it first
- You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related technical discipline

- The annual on-target earnings for this position is anticipated to be up to $200K - $230K. The final offer may be determined by a number of factors, including, but not limited to, the applicant's experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, as well as internal team benchmarks
This role may be performed fully remotely within the United States. Please note that our US headquarters are located in NYC. We also have office hubs in Austin, Miami, and Mountain View. If the remote work is performed outside of these offices, income may be subject to New York State tax withholding.
