As a primary architect of our financial systems, you will bridge the gap between sophisticated technical design and global business strategy to build a leading-edge digital ecosystem. You are responsible for:
- Shaping, evolving, and championing the core finance systems strategy to improve accounting and finance operational workflows and promote automation.

- Serving as the overall finance systems product owner, driving continuous improvement, proactively identifying inefficiencies, reducing manual work, and enhancing data accuracy and audit readiness.
- Proactively managing risks associated with ERP architecture and data integrity, ensuring that system evolutions do not disrupt business-critical financial activities or audit objectives.
- Driving collaborative decision-making and governance with senior leaders in IT, HR, Fundraising, and Security to execute system-related policies and internal controls, ensuring organization-wide compliance across global finance operations.
- Navigating complex, sensitive organizational shifts by influencing senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to adopt new technologies and process changes.
- Defining and owning adoption and success metrics for financial systems.
- Managing the budget and drive cost efficiency of our ERP systems.
- Acting as finance automation & AI lead for our financial workflows, identifying automation targets, improved analytics, and designing agentic workflows.
- Effectively leading a small ERP systems team of 2 direct reports who are responsible for managing multiple work streams and functional areas with dotted lines to other teams. Ensuring the team meets goals, drives improvement, and develops professionally.
Skills and Experience:
Leadership and Collaboration
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance transformation, ERP implementation, and systems improvement.
- Strong understanding of accounting and finance concepts; US GAAP principles; record-to-report, procure-to-pay, and other financial cycles.
- Ability to work effectively in a highly integrated working model, partnering deeply with other teams and subject matter experts to design solutions where boundaries overlap.
- Ability to lead workshops, including gathering and documenting business needs and use cases, and recommending envisioned processes.
- Experience delivering major transformation initiatives in waterfall and agile environments.
- Proven track record in managing cross-functional systems teams.
- Experience defining roadmaps, prioritizing backlogs, and delivering complex, multi-system changes.
- Able to communicate technical decisions in plain language to senior leadership and cross-functional audiences
- Skilled at working in a global, distributed, remote-friendly environment.
Technical and Architectural
- Direct experience designing and governing multi-tenant cloud enterprise architectures, including management of asynchronous data flows, API rates, and schema evolution between SaaS systems and data warehousing.
- Hands-on experience designing and implementing data pipelines to consolidate disparate data in end-to-end financial workflows.
- Deep understanding of finance processes and ERP systems (Sage Intacct, Coupa, Navan or similar).
- Understanding of non-profit data environments would be a plus.
- Experience defining integration strategy using knowledge of integration patterns and technologies (JSON/XML, REST/SOAP, webhooks), identity, and security controls.
- Knowledge of audit and compliance frameworks and the ability to map these to system configurations.
- Experience designing and implementing cloud data lake or data warehouse solutions in multi-tenant environments is a plus.

Summary

You will be responsible for:
- Designing, improving, and maintaining key parts of the MediaWiki stack;
- Driving technical quality and operational excellence by defining and reinforcing standards in testing, observability, and system reliability;
- Comfortably and autonomously creating proofs of concept, writing design documents, and breaking down complex projects into actionable tasks to support less experienced team members;

We are looking for a Program Delivery Coordinator to join our Program Strategy & Delivery team, reporting to the Online Strategic Projects Lead in the Fundraising department. This is a coordination and execution-focused role that keeps our team's projects moving efficiently. We seek someone who will own the systems, documentation, and operational follow-through that make delivery reliable. You will be the connective tissue that holds information together on our team and in support of Fundraising, ensures nothing falls through the cracks, and makes it easy for others to do their best work. This role is a strong fit for someone who is highly organized, takes genuine pride in clean systems, and finds satisfaction in making complex work feel manageable.
Team Context
The Program Strategy & Delivery team is a small, cross-functional team embedded within Online Fundraising. We serve as the connective layer between strategy and execution — keeping high-priority initiatives moving, improving coordination across teams, and ensuring that progress is visible and accountable. Our work spans project management, forecasting support, OKR reporting, and operational process design.
The Coordinator role is designed to assist with project management by owning the operational and administrative layer that supports good project management.
You are responsible for:
Keeping project infrastructure organized and current
- Maintain and update Asana boards so that project status, owners, and timelines are always accurate.
- Flag when tasks are overdue, owners are unclear, or dependencies are at risk.
- Identify opportunities to improve how we use Asana and propose changes.
- Organize and maintain shared documentation in Google Drive so information is easy to find.
Supporting meeting and communication logistics
- Schedule follow-up meetings and send calendar invites on behalf of the team.
- Take and distribute clear, actionable meeting notes.
- Send documents, trackers, and updates to stakeholders as directed.
- Manage routine team communications and follow-up reminders.
Owning recurring operational tasks
- Run established processes once they are set up and documented, including intake workflows, reporting cadences, and team templates.
- Maintain our library of project templates and ensure they stay current.
- Support OKR reporting logistics, including collecting updates and formatting for distribution.
- Assist with coordination across teams on assigned deliverables.
Contributing to a high-functioning team
- Bring a detail-oriented eye to everything you touch: catching errors, inconsistencies, and gaps before they become problems.

Summary
The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for a Movement Communications Specialist, Africa (Contract), the ideal candidate is an experienced communicator, campaigner or community organizer with extensive experience connecting, convening and collaborating across Africa; someone who is passionate about bringing people together around a common cause.
Reporting to the Manager, Global Movement Communications, you will be part of the Movement Communications team and the wider Communications Department. You will help us build bridges and a shared understanding across our movement with a particular focus on the Africa region.
We are looking for an experienced communicator, campaigner or community organizer with extensive experience working across Africa.
The Movement Communications team, part of the Communications Department is uniquely skilled at bringing people together - whether through moments to celebrate or workshops to collaborate, and while working with other departments as strategic partners and problem solvers. We work to build bridges and understanding in the movement; to help people understand our mission and celebrate their role in its success.
We are looking for a person based in the Sub Saharan Africa region.
Your Responsibilities:
- Connections & Dialogue: Support building connection, trust and understanding with our communities through two-way dialogue with our movement in Africa.
- Deploying software: Work closely with others in the team to help deployment of product and technology features onto relevant Wikis.
- Movement Pulse: Following the movement pulse, through monitoring the relevant community channels for news, incidents, and requests, and understanding the most relevant discussions.
- Mapping: Help in mapping the editor communities and Wikimedia movement in the African region, with a special focus on Product and Tech engagement, users with extended rights and the communities’ needs and priorities.
- Implementing insights: Help in informing the communities about the Foundation work, in alignment with recommendations from the Movement Communications Insights
- Support the Movement Communications team by taking up occasional assignments for other organizational priorities as per direct report’s manager's indications.
Skills & Experience:
- Excellent written English and fluency with at least one other African language would be beneficial.
- Some knowledge of Wikimedia communities’ dynamics, policies, cultures, and channels.
- A natural collaborator, who enjoys working with others and brings a supportive attitude to team efforts
- Well organized, skilled at handling logistic tasks (scheduling, organizing, notetaking etc.), efficient and able to meet deadlines.
- Ability to engage and facilitate dialogue with volunteers across a range of formats, including virtual meetings, on-wiki discussions, and in-person events.

As the product manager with the Connection team (contract), you will work with community members, researchers, engineers, and designers to deliver on the contributor strategy, with a focus on making the contributing experience more meaningful. This is a contract position to cover a parental leave (4 months with a potential to extend to 8 months). This role reports to the Group Product Manager, Contributors. Candidates must be available for critical meetings and synchronous work between 15:00 UTC and 18:00 UTC.
You are responsible for:
- Leading the product development process to define, develop, and deliver features to make the contributing experience more meaningful within the guardrails of our OKRs.
- With the help of the Group Product Manager discovering and defining new opportunities to set future KRs.
- Setting priorities for a cross-functional product team of a designer, engineering manager, software engineers, and community relations specialist.
- Collaborating with community ambassadors and volunteer community members around the world who participate in the Connection team's product development process.
- Collaborating with fellow product managers to stay aligned on higher-level strategic priorities.
- Coordinating and collaborating across other departments, such as Community Growth.

We are looking for a privacy-focused lawyer to join our in-house legal department as Privacy Fellow. The Privacy Fellow will provide research and drafting on a variety of topics, as well as gain experience in product counseling, data governance, and privacy-related public policy work. The Privacy Fellow will monitor current developments around the world to help the legal department adapt to changing regulations and promote people’s ability to participate in knowledge online. This position provides an immersive in-house experience with specific education and mentorship in the areas of internet regulation, data governance, and privacy law.
This position will report to the Wikimedia Foundation’s Senior Legal Counsel.

Senior UX Researcher (3 Month Contract)
Summary
The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for an experienced mixed-method UX researcher (3-month contract) to extend our capabilities for doing qualitative and quantitative research to understand the experiences and needs of the humans who use and contribute to Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. As part of the Research group, the UX Research team leads UX research with the goal to improve user experiences and increase global usage.
Reporting to the Manager, UX Research and working directly with another researcher on the team who will assist in scoping project work and with research operations as needed, you will be responsible for leading the execution of high-quality research that results in actionable insights that inform decisions toward our organizational objectives. The work for this role is expected to be primarily quantitative but may also include some qualitative research projects or components. Examples of the sort of quantitative and mixed-methods UX research projects we’ve done recently are a survey-based experimental study of attribution signals (learn more) and a mixed-method study to understand Wikipedia readers’ use cases (learn more).
This is a contract position to cover a staff leave. This role is part-time, with an expected average of 30 hours per week.
Candidates must be available for critical meetings and synchronous work between 15:00 to 19:00 UTC. Availability to work outside of your local business hours may be needed at times during the data collection phase of studies or for occasional meetings with key stakeholders.
You are responsible for:
- Coordinating work with the point of contact in the UX Research team, the rest of the team, and stakeholders to drive and support research projects.
- Supporting the UX Research point of contact in scoping projects as requested (e.g., to determine project goals, methodologies, logistics, and timelines).
- Developing an understanding of the product, its context, and the research objectives.
- Coordinating with UX Research point of contact to manage and execute all phases of the research process, including creating materials, coordinating research operations, overseeing participant recruitment/survey distribution, scheduling and running research sessions (using interpretation support when appropriate) or data collection, and doing analysis and report-writing.

The Wikimedia Foundation is looking for an experienced mixed-method UX researcher (3-month contract) to extend our capabilities for doing qualitative and quantitative research to understand the experiences and needs of the humans who use and contribute to Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. As part of the Research group, the UX Research team leads UX research with the goal to improve user experiences and increase global usage.
Reporting to the Manager, UX Research and working directly with another researcher on the team who will assist in scoping project work and with research operations as needed, you will be responsible for leading the execution of high-quality research that results in actionable insights that inform decisions toward our organizational objectives. The work for this role is expected to be primarily quantitative but may also include some qualitative research projects or components. Examples of the sort of quantitative and mixed-methods UX research projects we’ve done recently are a survey-based experimental study of attribution signals (learn more) and a mixed-method study to understand Wikipedia readers’ use cases (learn more).
This is a contract position to cover a staff leave. This role is part-time, with an expected average of 30 hours per week.
Candidates must be available for critical meetings and synchronous work between 15:00 to 19:00 UTC. Availability to work outside of your local business hours may be needed at times during the data collection phase of studies or for occasional meetings with key stakeholders.
You are responsible for:
- Coordinating work with the point of contact in the UX Research team, the rest of the team, and stakeholders to drive and support research projects.
- Supporting the UX Research point of contact in scoping projects as requested (e.g., to determine project goals, methodologies, logistics, and timelines).
- Developing an understanding of the product, its context, and the research objectives.
- Coordinating with UX Research point of contact to manage and execute all phases of the research process, including creating materials, coordinating research operations, overseeing participant recruitment/survey distribution, scheduling and running research sessions (using interpretation support when appropriate) or data collection, and doing analysis and report-writing.
- Delivering comprehensive research results, translating findings into actionable insights that can inform product and decisions.

Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience as a UX Researcher
- Expertise leading projects end-to-end using quantitative research methodologies, e.g. surveys, large-scale unmoderated testing, large-scale diary studies, quantitative UX benchmarking studies; expertise with statistical analysis, data visualization
- Experience with leading projects end-to-end using qualitative research methodologies, e.g. interviews, contextual inquiry, diary studies
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Experience leading research projects from start to finish (solo and in collaboration with others)
- Experience working collaboratively with product teams to translate insights into actionable recommendations

You are responsible for:
- Leading the product development process to refine, develop, and deliver features that deepen app retention, support the Active→Contributor funnel, and sustain app donors, within the guardrails of our OKRs and strategic direction.

You are responsible for:
- Analyzing current and forthcoming regulations related to marketing, customization, and other fundraising initiatives to support Advancement, Product and Technology teams on marketing and mobile app development
- Collaborating with the Foundation's lawyers and public policy professionals to address the impact of Generative AI and create a global legal ecosystem in which free knowledge can thrive with minimal disintermediation
- Identifying and executing opportunities to advance the Wikimedia mission within a complex, shifting technological and legal landscape
- Supporting the Product and Engineering teams in developing a data governance model that allows for novel features while maintaining high privacy standards, for example in the space of reader engagement
Skills and Experience:
- J.D. from accredited U.S. law school or equivalent foreign degree preferably paired with significant U.S. legal experience
- Experience with product, privacy, marketing and other internet law issues, advising a user-facing digital technology or internet company (e.g., as in-house counsel), preferably with global reach
- 5-7 years experience with legal review of go-to-market, fundraising, technical products or online services

Program Strategy & Growth

- Develop upgrade and cross-sell strategies to increase donor lifetime value (LTV), including structured ask strings based on LTV, giving history, and engagement behaviour.
- Contribute to sustainer acquisition strategy guided by the dedicated team.
Donor Journey & Lifecycle Management
- Design and optimise tailored donor journeys to deliver an optimal donor experience across onboarding, retention, upgrade, reactivation, and win-back.
- Lead and continuously improve dunning processes, including payment retries, recovery strategies, lapse prevention, and reactivation campaigns.
- Oversee and optimize self-management donation tools
- Continually refine supporter touchpoints ensuring all recurring giving communications are donor-focused and aligned across channels.
- Oversee campaign implementation end-to-end, conducting complex data selections and segmentation, ensuring strong execution
Campaign Management, Reporting & Budgeting
- Monitor KPIs, produce reports and adjust tactics to meet revenue and targets related to acquisition (in partnership with the dedicated team), retention, attrition, recovery, upgrade, and lifetime value.
- Contribute to the development and management of the acquisition and recurring giving budget. Support forecasting and performance re-projections.

Summary
The Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) seeks an experienced, collaborative Media Partnerships Lead to increase visibility and credibility for one of the world's most beloved brands: Wikipedia. Reporting to the Director of Brand the successful candidate will join the Wikimedia Foundation Brand Studio, an in-house brand and creative service group within the Communications Department. They will work closely with colleagues in social media, PR, executive communications, and Commercial Partnerships (Enterprise).
Guided by organizational goals, the Wikimedia mission, and changes in the competitive market, the Media Partnerships Lead will develop partnerships and connections that increase brand visibility and understanding of Wikipedia. Key audiences include mission-aligned organizations, media companies and social media platforms. They will network with these groups to ensure our brand positioning and social publishing impact, while identifying opportunities for collaboration in relation to brand awareness. This will involve entering the role with strong connections across the media and technology ecosystem and establishing and nurturing relationships with media companies, mission aligned organizations, journalists, networks of brand publishers, and social media platforms. You are responsible for:
Brand & Media partnerships
- You will help us build relationships within the media and publishing industries, cultivating champions of our work.
- You will find additional opportunities/platforms for us to share our key messages at scale within the media and among mission-aligned organizations.
- Aligned with our communications strategy, you will co-develop speaking opportunities and events with media companies and mission-aligned organizations (e.g. panels, discussions, thought leadership) to help boost the reach of our brand visibility and key messages.
Social Media Partnerships
- You will establish and maintain relationships with Social Media platform representatives in order to ensure Wikipedia branded publishing achieves the highest possible impact.
- You will work in tandem with the Wikimedia Foundation’s Social Media team to support their short and long term goals.
Off-platform Brand Visibility
- You will drive brand positioning and visibility goals in close collaboration with the Brand Studio’s Global Brand Manager and Brand Strategists.
- You will collaborate with staff from the Product + Technology Department and Global Advocacy team to support reader and content reuse goals.
Experience and skills that are important to us:
- Media Partnerships: Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, with a strong understanding of core brand strategy frameworks (research, data analysis, brief writing, brand positioning). Proven ability to broker global partnerships across audiences.

You are responsible for:
- Performing day-to-day operational/DevOps tasks on Wikimedia’s public-facing infrastructure (deployment, maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting)
- Implementing and utilizing configuration management and deployment tools (Puppet, Kubernetes)
- Leading continuous improvement by automating the installation, configuration, and maintenance of services on our platform
- Work closely with product teams, helping them bring scalable functionality to our users by assisting in the architectural design of new services and making them operate at scale
- Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation shared across the broader SRE team. This includes taking part in incident response, diagnosis, and follow-up on system outages or alerts across Wikimedia’s production infrastructure.
- Collaborating with a global, cross-functional team in an asynchronous communication environment
- Mentoring peers in your areas of technical and operational strength
- Ability and willingness to travel 1-2 times a year for in-person events and team meetings

Skills and Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in an SRE/Operations/DevOps role as part of a team
- Experience with shell and any scripting languages used in an SRE context (Python, Go, Bash, Ruby; we primarily use Python) and configuration management tools (Puppet, Ansible; we use Puppet)
- Experience with distributed caching systems, including their underlying algorithms and how to optimize their performance
- A thorough, protocol-level understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, and DNS
- Experience with package management on Linux systems (we use Debian)
- Strong Linux system-level troubleshooting skills
- History of automating tasks and processes, identifying process gaps, and finding automation opportunities
- Strong English language skills (verbal and written) and ability to work independently, as an effective part of a globally distributed team working across multiple time zones
- Experience leading and participating in incident response and post-incident review rituals, with the goal of conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive measures.
Additionally, we’d love it if you have:
- Experience with high-performance HTTP(S) caching-proxy software, such as HAProxy, Varnish (Vinyl), Apache Traffic Server, Envoy, or Nginx
- Experience with Linux kernel tuning for high-traffic loads

You are responsible for:
- Helping design, develop, and deliver security features, with safety and security in mind

- Developing, reviewing, and deploying security features developed by the Foundation and community members
- Conducting internal and external security and privacy reviews

You will be working primarily on our MediaWiki platform which powers Wikipedia. As a top 10 website, we must meet stringent performance standards while addressing new security challenges such as supporting modern authentication technologies, detecting and preventing platform abuse from bots, and planning and rolling out improvements to our security architecture by defending against emerging threats.
You are responsible for:
- Helping design, develop, and deliver security features, with safety and security in mind
- Working with other engineering teams to ensure that they make safe and compliant architectural and implementation choices
- Leading by example in code review, decision-making, and team culture — fostering transparency, empathy, and collaboration
- Developing, reviewing, and deploying security features developed by the Foundation and community members
- Conducting internal and external security and privacy reviews
- Performing maintenance and addressing technical debt in security and privacy-critical components
- Providing support for application security and privacy incidents and operations
Skills and Experience:

The Wikimedia Foundation is a remote-first organization with staff members including contractors based 40+ countries*. Salaries at the Wikimedia Foundation are set in a way that is competitive, equitable, and consistent with our values and culture. The anticipated annual pay range of this position for applicants based within the United States is US$113,082 to US$175,725 with multiple individualized factors, including cost of living in the location, being the determinants of the offered pay. For applicants located outside of the US, the pay range will be adjusted to the country of hire. We neither ask for nor take into consideration the salary history of applicants. The compensation for a successful applicant will be based on their skills, experience and location.
