Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a Finance Associate to join our Accounting team in Mumbai. This role will support various accounting functions across the company such as fund accounting, management reporting, tax reporting and analysis, trading P&L reconciliation, and financial statement preparation. 

The ideal candidate for this role is a Chartered Accountant (CA) with a background in financial services and a desire to leverage their strong understanding of Indian GAAP (IndAS) and SEBI regulation in our Mumbai office.  

Responsibilities

• Perform daily P&L, cash, and position reconciliations, including overseeing commission accruals and payments utilizing a vendor-based clearing system
• Perform month-end closing procedures, including financial statement preparation, cash and position reconciliations, entering income/expense accruals, and preparing capital allocation schedules
• Test and utilize automated tools for monthly and on-the-fly reconciliation and profit reports, including utilizing Unix commands, SQL queries, and running scripts in Python
• Assist with external audits, including preparation of financial statements and footnotes under Indian GAAP
• Collaborate with our Tax team to provide information and data necessary to complete various tax return filings, and assist in preparing filings 
• Perform cash and collateral management functions, including submitting various bank opening documents, rebalancing cash accounts, updating cash flow projection, monthly bank reconciliations, and capital fund inflow registration
• Preparation of net worth certificate, financial statements, and directors’ report submissions at bi-annual/annual intervals to the Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI)
• Prepare other ad hoc reporting as required by SEBI, banks, and exchanges
• Assist in the infusion and repatriation of capital
• Assist in the creation and design of automated reports requested by management
• Work with relational databases and set up reports using simple SQL queries

Qualifications

• Chartered Accountant (CA)
• Bachelor's degree in accounting and an excellent understanding of Indian GAAP
• Understanding of US GAAP is a plus
• 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting with an entity regulated by SEBI
• Strong Excel skills, VBA/SQL experience preferred
• Big 4 or large international firm experience a plus
• Excellent cross-functional communications skills, including fluency in English
• Meticulously detail-oriented
• Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task
• Willingness to travel periodically to HRT’s NYC office for training
• Ability to take calls during US business hours, arranged in advance, as needed

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking an Indirect Tax Specialist to join our growing Tax team. In this role, you will help ensure HRT’s global VAT/GST tax compliance, provide tax support for international imports, US state and local sales & use tax compliance, and collaborate with various internal teams to improve indirect tax reporting and indirect tax efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all indirect tax compliance matters for all HRT entities
• Prepare VAT/GST return workpapers for all global affiliates across multiple jurisdictions
• Manage US sales and use tax compliance
• Work with external advisors on the review and filing of all indirect tax returns
• Provide support for indirect tax inquiries from tax authorities
• Coordinate with logistics teams to manage indirect tax matters for international shipments and imports
• Work closely with internal accounting, accounts payable, and IT teams to ensure accurate reporting of indirect tax in the ERP system and help create process improvements
• Collaborate with finance, legal, and technology teams on projects to improve indirect tax efficiencies
• Research and analyze global indirect tax issues and communicate findings clearly to internal stakeholders 
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments impacting international indirect tax

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, tax, or related field
• 5+ years of indirect tax experience, with a strong focus on VAT/GST compliance
• Understanding of various international indirect tax regimes and experience managing compliance obligations across multiple jurisdictions
• Ability to quickly familiarize oneself with the indirect tax rules of new tax jurisdictions
• Strong Excel skills, with the ability to independently read, edit, and create tax workpapers and the ability to understand and work with relevant financial and transaction data

The estimated base salary range for this position is 125,000 - 175,000 USD per year (or local equivalent). The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hudson River Trading (HRT) is seeking a highly motivated accounting professional with a background in financial services to join our Finance team in Shanghai. This role will support various functions within Finance such as daily bookkeeping, month-end closing, trading P&L reconciliation, local tax filing, and regulatory reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily T+1 trading P&L reconciliations across various asset classes, including trading gains/losses, dividends, interests, and commissions using automated tools,  including SQL queries and running scripts in Python
• Handle accounting operations including accounts payable, bank reconciliation, fixed asset management, and preparation of journal entries – accruals, prepays, and intercompany transactions
• Assist with various China tax filings, including quarterly and annual CIT filing, monthly VAT filing, and other regulatory tax filings
• Interact with internal regulatory reporting team and external auditors to complete group and China statutory audits
• Collaborate with other accounting functions (FP&A, Tax, PostTrade, and Product Control) to support overall business needs
• Perform ad hoc accounting tasks, as required

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accountancy or other related disciplines with recognized professional accounting qualifications (CICPA, ACCA, CFA or equivalent certification)
• 3 -7 years of relevant experience in a similar capacity; experience in an international business preferred
• Ability to be a good team player and work independently
• Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
