THE JOB

As a Customer Experience Coordinator, your job is to define the customer’s experience through service, focus, and participation—so you are passionate about perfecting the experience before, during, and after their time at VEG. THE JOB

As an Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician, you’re part of a team that thrives on the front lines of emergency veterinary care where every second counts. You’ll handle a wide range of cases, from minor to complex emergencies, collaborating with our doctors and team in delivering gold standard, emotionally intelligent care. You’ll jump into triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing, all while being a steady, compassionate presence for pet parents in their most stressful moments. This role is for someone who wants to do the work they were trained to do (and more), continue growing their skills, and help people and their pets when they need it most.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Treat every patient and person like they matter—because they do! You keep people and pets together and stay by their side through tests, treatments, and everything in between
• Jump into action, delivering nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in the most critical moments, from triage to discharge
• Bring the meds, the monitoring, and the mastery—from IVs and CRIs to blood transfusions and beyond

• Be ready to perform CPR like the trained RECOVER rockstar you are (not only do we offer training, we have the highest number of RECOVER CPR professionals and instructors in the industry!)

WHAT YOU NEED

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA accredited program strongly preferred
• Credentialed as a Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state the VEG practice is located is required; VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus and will lead to extra considerations in compensation
• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; experience in emergency or specialty medicine preferred
• Basic computer skills and a comprehension of practice management software and electronic medical record keeping
• Excellent communicator and calm under pressure; ready to lend a hand to support those around you
• Fine motor skills for handling patients and medical equipment
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance

• Gather the signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam 
• Conduct physical examinations of animals, along with other required investigatory measures such as ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies 
• Complete a diagnosis of each pet's condition to create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan

THE JOB

As a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician, you’re part of a team that thrives on the front lines of emergency veterinary care where every second counts. You’ll handle a wide range of cases, from minor to complex emergencies, collaborating with our doctors and team in delivering gold standard, emotionally intelligent care. You’ll jump into triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing, all while being a steady, compassionate presence for pet parents in their most stressful moments. • Assist in setting-up, performing, monitoring sedation and surgical anesthesia with LVT or DVM supervision.
• Perform nursing care tasks such as placing and maintaining urinary catheters and nasal oxygen tubes, and
• Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot oxygen cages and other oxygen administration techniques.
• Work alongside licensed veterinary technicians as a vital member of the nursing care team.
• Obtain additional training along guided growth pathways offering roles in addition to direct nursing care such as veterinary technician credentialing, trainer role, community outreach, and leadership.

Veterinary Assistants can additionally (where permitted by law):

• Administer, monitor, and maintain patients under general anesthesia with or without mechanical ventilation for patients with varied levels of risk.
• Perform advanced vascular access techniques including jugular catheter placement, sampling line placement, central line placement, intraosseous catheterization, and arterial catheterization.

THE JOB

As a per diem Emergency Veterinarian, you’re more than just passionate about helping people and their pets; you thrive on it, especially when they need you most. WHAT YOU’LL DO 

• Answer medical questions over the phone 
• See patients right away as part of the VEG Triage and VEG Spikes, our unique, customer-centered way of doing things—like ensuring people see a doctor right away and allowing families to stay with their pets 
• Gather the signalment, presenting complaint, vitals, and physical exam 
• Conduct physical examinations of animals, along with other required investigatory measures such as ultrasounds, X-rays, bloodwork, and biopsies 
• Complete a diagnosis of each pet's condition to create a diagnostic and therapeutic plan
• Communicate diagnosis and treatment options directly with customers
• Prepare estimates and present them to customers
• Create and review medical records to ensure accuracy
• Demonstrate the value of tests and treatments performed by speaking with the customer and addressing their concerns
• Perform minor and major emergency surgeries
• Perform endoscopic procedures
• Educate customers on after care and preventative measures where appropriate 

WHAT YOU NEED

• A DVM or equivalent degree
• Live and breathe emergency medicine, including emergency surgery (the soft tissue kind!) and endoscopy
• Thrive in team-oriented environments (think hospital retreats, team dinners, happy hours, and more)

THE PROGRAM

At VEG we find a way to say yes to helping future veterinary technicians grow into their potential. Our Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program offers a hands-on, immersive experience in emergency medicine alongside our credentialed emergency veterinary technicians.

You won’t just observe—you’ll engage. You’ll get close to the action, ask questions, try new techniques, and explore everything that excites you about life in the ER. From patient triage to diagnostics to inpatient care, you'll gain exposure to what emergency medicine is really like—and explore whether it’s the future you want to chase. This is your chance to build a strong foundation, get inspired, and be a part of something bigger.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Learn from the top emergency veterinary professionals in the business.
• Pair up with an emergency credentialed veterinary technician for real-time mentoring and on-the-floor learning
• Shadow and assist with triage, outpatient visits, diagnostics, anesthesia, inpatient care, and more
• Practice skills required by your school’s proficiency checklist with mentorship and guidance
• Experience the teamwork, pace, and heart that defines emergency care at VEG
• Explore whether or not being an ER superhero is what you want to do next

WHAT YOU NEED

• Currently enrolled in an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology or nursing program, or a program actively seeking accreditation; this program is only for students, not future veterinarians or veterinary assistants
• Enrolled in a course that requires externship hours or skills
• Able to start the program within six months of application
• Current rabies vaccination or titer required 
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance

THE PROGRAM

The VEG New ER Doctor (NERD) program is designed to transform practicing non-emergency veterinarians into exceptional, confident VEG ER doctors. This six-month deep dive into the action of emergency is a structured, immersive program like no other that allows participants to transition into full-time ER doctors at VEG after successful completion. Integrating academic and clinical teachings with individualized mentorship, this program fuels a passion for ER and creates a deeper meaning around life-saving veterinary heroics. If you’re hungry to learn how to do ER, perform surgeries, advance your endoscopy skills, learn about exotics, and discover the unique rewards of customer-focused care in an open concept hospital, we find a way to say yes to training you in our NERD program.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Work side-by-side with experienced VEG doctors who will mentor you through real ER cases, offering guidance and feedback every step of the way. This isn’t just shadowing—it’s hands-on learning with built-in mentorship.
• New ER Doctors (a.k.a. NERDS!) get up-close, firsthand ER experience, working 3-4 hospital shifts per week (days, swings, and nights), as well as through weekly case discussions, literature reviews, and hands-on training at state-of-the-art facilities. 
• Learn best practices for client-centered communication and care, the VEG Way.

What CE experiences can you expect to attend during the program?

From hands-on training to weekly didactic learning, NERD program participants earn over 160 RACE-approved CE hours in just six months—which takes most doctors 10 years to complete! Some CE highlights include: 

• Abdominal, thoracic and cardiac point-of care ultrasound
• Exotic companion animals in the ER
• Flexible GI endoscopy
• Small animal emergency surgery
• Small animal critical care lab
• RECOVER ALS and BLS Rescuer CPR certification

All paid for by VEG!

WHAT YOU NEED

• A valid DVM, VMD, or equivalent degree 
• Be a practicing veterinarian for 1+ years
• A desire to live and breathe emergency medicine
• A valid license to practice veterinary medicine, as well as a valid DEA registration in the state you will be completing your program by your start date
• Ability to stand for prolonged hours, kneel, and work on the floor, as well as ability to lift up to 25 kg on own and able to support up to 40 kg with assistance
• Must be willing to work in a noisy environment with strong or unpleasant odors
• Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as needed basis based on hospital needs
• Work well in a fast-paced environment with people from all backgrounds and different personality types
• Can commit to a predetermined schedule for a consecutive six-month period

*Please also note: Relocation for the NERD program may be required. All New ER Doctor graduates are guaranteed a spot at VEG as an emergency doctor at a hospital location of our choosing upon successful completion of the program in the required time frame and passing all required program competencies and benchmarks.
