The Role

Verse is seeking a Data Scientist to join our Data Science Team. In this role, you will lead the development and deployment of advanced data-driven solutions across a range of applications, including electricity markets, renewable procurement, and energy risk management. You will shape the machine learning and data modeling foundations that Verse's software is built on. What We're Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative field and 2+ years of professional experience in data science or machine learning; or
• Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of professional experience in data science or machine learning
• Strong foundation in statistical modeling and machine learning, including time series forecasting and model evaluation
• Experience deploying and maintaining models in cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure) using MLOps practices

$146,000 - $172,000

In this position, you will own research projects end-to-end from problem formulation through model development to production integration. Your work feeds directly into Aria and into decisions our customers make about how to procure, dispatch, and hedge their energy assets. For example, you might spend a cycle backtesting financial performance of renewable energy projects, encoding bespoke energy contract terms into reusable and scaled models, or developing a probabilistic model for medium-term energy price scenarios.

The Role

You will be a member of the technical staff developing product experiences and features for clean energy buyers — our customers, businesses who spend millions of dollars in operational expenses each year on energy and who need analytics and insights into their portfolios of renewable energy assets.  In this role, you will serve in a “full stack” capacity designing, building, and maintaining frontend and backend components of our Buyer Solutions suite of applications. We use Typescript, React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, Radix/ShadCN, Jest, Cypress, Playwright, Vitest, and Storybook with Echarts and D3/Observable for data visualization for our frontend, and Cloudflare Pages for hosting and content delivery. We rely on identity and auth platforms like Clerk for sign-in flows. Our backend is written in Go and Python with Postgres/AlloyDB and blob storage for data persistence.

Base Pay Range

$150,000 - $240,000+

The Role

As a Software Engineer focused on Fleet Telemetry & Control at Verse, you will be working closely with our energy solutions partners to design, implement, and test distributed energy resource controls and telemetry software on customer hardware at sites around the world. You will be part of a dynamic, high-performance team building applications directly on bare-metal or on hardware-level virtualization platforms. As an advanced technical leader in  network programming and state management development, engineering teams will look to you for best standards and practices for interfacing with on-premises grid assets using solutions you will build and maintain.

Key Responsibilities

• Foster a culture and mindset of well-designed systems, test-driven software, and transparent communication with a high caliber of mutual respect and consideration for stakeholders
• Mentor and support career and junior level engineers in their fleet telemetry and control software career development
• Collaborate closely with energy solutions providers on their proprietary hardware and on-premises software stacks
• Design, implement, and test software for supervisory distributed energy resource control and telemetry applications with heterogeneous OEM hardware, sensor/actuator networks, and remote terminal units
• Develop high-performance, production-grade applications optimized for resource- and bandwidth-constrained environments
• Provide specifications for over-the-air (OTA) update of on-prem software and remote access solutions for customers
• Implement and enforce best security practices for critical infrastructure and cyber-physical systems

What We're Looking For (Minimum Qualifications)

• Advanced knowledge of communications solutions at all layers (L1-L7) in the OSI networking model 
• Hardened security mindset with extensive experience in one or more technologies such as public key infrastructure, encryption, cryptography, and data privacy

• Proficient with electric power systems and bulk electricity grid hardware (e.g. transmission, distribution, generation, storage)

The Role

We're seeking an Engineering Manager to lead our Buyer Solutions, Dispatch Intelligence, and Core Engineering efforts to support features in Aria empowering clean energy buyers to make informed procurement decisions, and optimizing the real-time performance and profitability of distributed energy resources. These features are a core part of Verse's product offerings that empower our users to make informed decisions about their energy costs and emissions. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Data Science and cross-functional stakeholders to define roadmaps, align on priorities, and understand their needs around evaluating clean energy projects, planning their portfolios, managing their risk, delivering key portfolio insights, and navigating energy cost factors.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and oversee engineering team execution translating company, product, technology strategy into a clear, sequenced and prioritized delivery plan
• Establish and maintain clear ownership of work flows, including decision-making on priorities, tradeoffs, and edge cases across individual contributors (ICs) in the engineering team
• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers, fostering accountability, clarity, and high performance while coaching them on expectations, scope, and delivery along the way
