The Team:
Upstart's Growth team is dedicated to creating a seamless product experience that allows customers to effortlessly discover and access Upstart’s credit products, both for the first time and on an ongoing basis. By building exceptional, customer-centric experiences, this team plays a crucial role in making Upstart the premier destination for consumer credit, driving growth and unifying Upstart’s product portfolio into a cohesive, multi-product marketplace.
As a Principal Product Manager focused on User Engagement, you’ll lead a core pillar of our Growth strategy – driving user activity, retention, and repeat usage through compelling, value-driven product experiences. You will shape how customers interact with Upstart beyond the initial transaction, building our in-product experience, and touchpoints that deepen trust, promote financial wellness, and ultimately unlock new monetization pathways.
In this highly cross-functional role, you'll operate at the intersection of product, design, engineering, data science, and marketing to reimagine how users stay engaged with our platform. You’ll balance bold bets with iterative testing, and combine behavioral insights with product mechanics to build delightful, habit-forming experiences that serve both user needs and business outcomes.

The Team:
Upstart’s Pricing Platform team builds the reusable, scalable, and reliable platform that powers pricing across all Upstart loan products, including unsecured, auto, and home loans. This team owns the core primitives that translate application data into the offers (APR) presented to customers, including eligibility, qualification, underwriting, and offer selection.
As a Principal Product Manager at Upstart, you will define and drive the strategy for one of the most critical systems at Upstart—the platform that powers how we price loans and deliver offers to customers. This role sits at the intersection of infrastructure and product, requiring deep platform thinking and strong technical fluency. You will lead efforts to evolve a complex, high-impact system into a scalable, modular platform that accelerates innovation across all loan products. You will balance near-term reliability and quality improvements with long-term investments that unlock velocity and flexibility for engineering teams across the company.

The Team
Upstart’s Agentic Platform team is responsible for building the internal AI infrastructure that powers autonomous agents across the company. These agents support teams spanning Onboarding, Servicing, Fraud, and Operations by automating high-volume workflows and enabling faster, more consistent decision-making.
The team’s mission is to democratize AI development across Upstart by creating a platform that allows non-technical users to build, test, and deploy intelligent agents safely and efficiently. This includes developing tools for agent configuration, evaluation, orchestration, and integration with internal systems.
As a Principal Product Manager, you will own the long-term vision and strategy for this platform—defining how AI agents are built, governed, and scaled across Upstart. You will operate as a cross-functional leader, aligning engineering, research, legal, compliance, and operations teams around a shared roadmap and driving adoption of the platform across the company.
This would be a good fit for someone who has an experience as an ML Researcher/Engineer who made the transition into Product Management.
