About the Opportunity

We’re looking for a passionate Intermediate Software Engineer specializing in Artificial Intelligence to join our growing team. About the Role

About the Role

Tucows Domains is looking for a Manager, Engineering Operations to lead the team responsible for the reliability, scalability, and performance of our infrastructure and platforms.

This is a working manager role, you will lead and mentor a team of engineers while remaining technically engaged in the systems that power our services. You will help shape the strategy and operations of our infrastructure across AWS and on-premises environments, ensuring our platforms remain resilient, secure, and scalable as the business grows.

You’ll partner closely with engineering teams across the organization to improve operational practices, modernize infrastructure, and ensure we deliver reliable systems for our customers.

What You’ll Do

Lead the Engineering Operations Team

• Build, mentor, and support a team of infrastructure and operations engineers.
• Set clear priorities, goals, and performance expectations for the team.
• Foster a culture of ownership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Own Infrastructure Reliability & Operations

• Oversee the reliability and performance of infrastructure across AWS and hybrid environments.
• Drive improvements in observability, incident response, and operational processes.
• Lead root cause analysis and ensure learnings translate into long-term improvements.

Guide Infrastructure & Platform Strategy

• Partner with cross-functional groups such as Security Operations,  Compliance and diverse Engineering teams to design and operate scalable, resilient infrastructure.
• Lead modernization initiatives including cloud adoption, automation, and infrastructure as code.
• Provide architectural guidance on systems that support high availability and performance.

Stay Technically Engaged

• Review infrastructure designs and technical solutions.
• Contribute to troubleshooting complex production issues when needed.
• Ensure the team is building and operating infrastructure using modern DevOps practices.

What You Bring

• Experience leading engineering or infrastructure teams while remaining technically engaged.
• Strong knowledge of AWS cloud infrastructure and distributed systems.
• Experience managing or operating hybrid infrastructure (cloud and on-premises).
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation or similar).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation, and modern DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of Linux systems, networking fundamentals, and production operations.
• Proven ability to lead incident response and drive operational improvements.
• Experience leading change while managing day to day operational requirements.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across engineering teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, site reliability engineering, or systems engineering.
• Experience leading or mentoring engineers in a technical environment.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Experience operating and supporting production infrastructure at scale.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

This role is responsible for leading financial planning and analysis (FP&A) across all business segments while transforming and optimizing financial systems and reporting infrastructure.

You will oversee the annual budget and quarterly forecast processes, ensuring best practices across finance teams. As a key strategic partner, you will provide executive leadership with financial consultation, reporting, insights, and analysis. A strong emphasis is placed on efficiency, automation, and AI-driven integration to modernize workflows and enhance decision-making.

This is a remote position for applicants in Canada. Some travel to our headquarters in Toronto will be required. 

Key Responsibilities

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead and own the annual budgeting and planning cycle, ensuring coordination across all business unit finance teams.

• Maintain and improve forecasting processes, including quarterly forecasting and continuous planning methodologies.

• Develop long-term financial forecasts and models to support strategic decision-making.

Financial Systems & Process Transformation

• Drive modernization of financial systems and reporting infrastructure to enhance efficiency, automation, and AI-driven analytics.

• Oversee administration, optimization, and integration of financial systems (ERP, BI tools, planning software).

• Partner with IT and finance teams to implement AI-driven automation and machine learning for forecasting and decision-making.

• Assess and optimize financial processes and technology, ensuring scalability and automation opportunities.

Reporting & Business Insights

• Develop and maintain management reporting, dashboards, and KPIs to track performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods.

• Prepare executive-level reports and dashboards, leveraging AI-powered insights and automated tools.

• Support Board and Audit Committee presentations, ensuring data accuracy and KPI tracking.

• Contribute financial insights to quarterly and annual management discussions and regulatory filings (e.g., 10K and 10Q).

Analysis, Business Partnership & Support

• Act as a strategic finance business partner to corporate leadership, helping shape financial strategy and operational efficiency.

• Lead monthly variance analysis, collaborating with executives to identify and resolve budget discrepancies.

• Provide decision-support analysis for business initiatives and procurement decisions.

• Research broader economic trends and incorporate findings into financial models and forecasts.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Experience in technology, SaaS, telecommunications, or other high-growth industries.

• Hands-on experience with AI-powered financial automation and finance system implementations.

• Strong understanding of data pipelines, API integrations, and cloud-based financial platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (CPA or CFA preferred).

• 6+ years of experience in financial planning, analysis, and financial systems transformation.

• 2+ years of management experience overseeing FP&A processes and teams.

• Strong proficiency in financial modeling, data analysis, and financial automation tools.

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite) and BI tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Power BI).

• Proven ability to automate processes, integrate AI-driven tools, and optimize financial reporting structures.

• Strong leadership and collaboration skills across finance and operational teams.

• Excellent communication skills with ability to present findings to executive leadership.

The base salary range for this position is $104,000 to $120,000. Range shown in $CAD for Canadian residents. Other countries will differ. About the Opportunity

We are seeking a self-motivated Principal Engineer - Platform Engineering with strong backend software development experience who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable systems, and sharing knowledge across teams.

In this role, you will set technical direction and lead the design and development of high-impact backend services and systems that power Wavelo's products. You'll focus on building reliable, performant, and maintainable software, enabling teams to ship high-quality features efficiently at scale.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguous problem spaces, can translate business needs into robust technical solutions, and consistently raises the bar for software design and engineering practices across teams.

You will collaborate closely with product, data, and infrastructure partners to design APIs, improve system architecture, and evolve our backend ecosystem. While you'll work alongside Infrastructure and DevOps teams, your primary focus will be on application-layer design, service reliability, and delivering customer-facing value through code.

Job Duties

In the First Month

• Gain a deep understanding of the current platform landscape including infrastructure, platform services, and application layers.

• Identify key constraints that are slowing engineering delivery.

• Build context around the environment platform strategy, including declarative environments, generated artifacts, and self-service developer experiences.

• Identify current platform gaps such as manual steps or fragile integrations.

• Establish strong working relationships across Infrastructure/CI, Operations, Security, and product engineering teams.

• Begin shaping shared standards through design reviews and code reviews.

• Identify 1–2 high-leverage improvements (e.g., removing manual provisioning steps, improving reliability signals, tightening CI/CD contracts).

In the First 3 Months

• Contribute to and lead technical design and architecture discussions for foundational platform initiatives.

• Design and implement features that improve platform repeatability, reliability, and safety.

• Deliver solutions such as:

  • Dependency-ordered orchestration inputs

  • Self-service preview tooling

  • Standardized deployment interfaces

• Promote an “automate-first” mindset by reducing manual operational work and pushing reliability and quality earlier in the development lifecycle.

• Improve engineering quality through:

In the First Year

• Own multiple platform initiatives end-to-end, from concept through production outcomes.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled Database Reliability Engineer (DBRE) with deep expertise in PostgreSQL at scale.

In this role, you will design, operationalize, and optimize the data persistence layer that powers large-scale, mission-critical systems. You’ll work closely with SRE, Platform, and Engineering teams to ensure performance, reliability, automation, and operational excellence across the database environment.

This is a hands-on engineering role focused on building resilient data infrastructure—well beyond traditional database administration.

What You’ll Do

Architecture, Reliability & Performance

• Design, implement, and operate highly available PostgreSQL clusters (physical/logical replication, sharding, partitioning, failover automation)
• Optimize query performance and indexing strategies
• Perform capacity planning, growth forecasting, and workload modeling
• Own high-availability strategies, including:
  • Automatic failover
  • Multi-region deployments
  • Disaster recovery

Automation & Tooling

• Build and maintain automation for:
  • Provisioning and configuration

• Develop monitoring and alerting systems for PostgreSQL clusters

Cross-Functional Collaboration
