About the role

We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer, focused on AI Developer Experience, to build the systems that let our entire company ship products. Product managers, designers, and operators at Thesis increasingly build with AI, and we want to harness that energy without losing the rigor, security, and maintainability that a healthcare business depends on.

Your job is to design and build the paved road: the typed API framework, tenant-safe data access layer, migration tooling, and progressive delivery infrastructure that make it easy to do the right thing and impossible to do the dangerous thing.

This is a foundational hire. You’ll set the patterns that shape how dozens of people write code over the next several years. You’ll work directly with engineering leadership on what gets enforced structurally, what’s reviewed by humans, and what’s monitored at runtime, and you’ll be the person product managers come to when they’re stuck.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build the platform primitives. The data access layer (TypeScript + Drizzle + Postgres), the endpoint framework, feature flag integration, progressive delivery tooling, migration scaffolding, and the KV/events primitives that absorb most schema requests. You own the architecture and the code.
• Encode conventions into the type system, CI, and runtime. Where other teams would write a style guide, you write a TypeScript signature, a lint rule, a Semgrep check, or a runtime assertion. Humans shouldn’t have to remember what the system can enforce.
• Enable non-engineer builders. Design the scaffolders, documentation, and agent-style guides that let a product manager with AI assistance ship a well-formed feature on their first day. Your users are as much PMs as they are engineers.
• Partner with the engineering team on reviews and unblocking. Run the schema review process. Extend the data layer when new patterns emerge. Shape the CODEOWNERS structure. Coach engineers who rotate onto “PM enablement” duty.
• Own the governance rituals. Weekly platform review, monthly architecture review, quarterly cleanup. Watch for drift and duplication. Delete what doesn’t earn its keep.
• Handle production incidents on the platform. When something breaks in the shared infrastructure, you’re the person who figures it out and fixes the class of bug, not just the instance.

We expect you to have:

• Staff-level engineering experience: 8+ years building production systems, with meaningful time spent on platform, infrastructure, or developer-experience work. You’ve set patterns that outlasted you at previous companies, and you have opinions about what makes them good or bad.
• Deep TypeScript and Postgres fluency: You can read and write advanced TypeScript types without flinching. You understand Postgres well enough to reason about indexes, locks, query plans, and migrations on live tables. Direct experience with Drizzle, Kysely, or similar typed query builders is a strong plus.
• A safety-through-types instinct: You reach for the type system and the framework before you reach for documentation. You’ve shipped abstractions where “the wrong thing doesn’t compile”—not just “the wrong thing is discouraged in the style guide.”
• Security literacy: You understand multi-tenant isolation, the common vulnerabilities in web applications, and why defense in depth matters. You’ve set up CI security tooling (SAST, secrets scanning, dependency auditing) or are eager to.
• Empathy for non-engineer users: You can design an API surface that a product manager can use confidently, and you’re genuinely interested in what makes the difference between a tool people adopt and one they route around.
• AI fluency: You’ve built with modern AI coding tools and have a considered view of where they help, where they mislead, and what guardrails matter most when AI is generating code at scale.
• Healthcare awareness: Experience building systems that work with sensitive data and regulated environments, or a strong interest in learning healthcare workflows and constraints.
• Clear communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• NYC-based: You are based in New York and excited to be in-office ~3 days per week.

Nice to have:

• Experience designing API frameworks (tRPC, typed REST, GraphQL) where conventions are enforced by the framework itself, not by review.
• Experience running progressive delivery systems (LaunchDarkly, Statsig, or homegrown).
• Experience in a company that successfully enabled non-engineers to ship production code—or a company that tried and failed, and you know why.
• Experience with Postgres row-level security in production.

Target compensation for this role is $225–$275k, plus equity and a generous benefits package.

We are looking for a highly driven Data Engineer to help design, build, and scale the data foundations that power Thesis’s AI agents, including owning critical client integrations. You will work closely with the product, engineering, and AI/ML teams to ensure Thesis’s data architecture is scalable, reliable, secure, and actionable. This is a broad-scope, high-impact role for a technical builder who thrives in ambiguity and wants meaningful ownership over modern data infrastructure in an early-stage healthcare startup.

Responsibilities

• Build core data infrastructure: Design, implement, and maintain scalable, data pipelines and architectures across ingestion, transformation, and storage layers
• Own client integrations and data ingestion: Structure and maintain durable integrations and ETL workflows to reliably onboard and normalize client data.
• Design robust data models: Build and maintain clean, well-documented data models that support reporting, analytics, and downstream automation.
• Enable product and analytics outcomes: Ensure data flows accurately from source systems to products, analytics, and AI/ML use cases.
• Drive data quality and reliability: Implement monitoring, testing, and observability to ensure high data quality and system uptime.

We expect you to have:

• Strong technical foundation: 4-6+ years of experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering with a data focus; strong proficiency in Python and SQL.
• Modern data stack experience: Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (AWS and/or GCP), data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery), orchestration tools (Airflow or similar), and transformation tools (dbt preferred).
• Healthcare data chops: Familiarity integrating with healthcare data standards and systems (e.g., FHIR/HL7, EHR APIs), including working with messy clinical/claims data.
• Data modeling expertise: Experience designing data models for different sources, workflows, and business processes.
• Clear communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• NYC-based: You are based in New York and excited to be in-office 3+ days per week.

About the role

We are looking for a Security Lead to own Thesis’s security program end-to-end, spanning cloud and infrastructure security, application security, compliance readiness, access management, and incident response. This is a strategic, hands-on role: you’ll partner closely with Engineering, Product, and Operations to embed security into how we design, build, and operate our platform, and you’ll be a client-facing leader who can confidently support security reviews, questionnaires, and audits with healthcare partners.

Responsibilities:

• Own the security roadmap: Define and execute Thesis’s security strategy and priorities as we scale in a highly regulated environment.
• Secure the platform: Architect and implement secure cloud infrastructure (AWS), logging/monitoring, IAM, vulnerability management, and secure SDLC practices.
• Drive compliance readiness: Lead technical execution for SOC 2, HIPAA, and related frameworks, building scalable controls, evidence collection, and audit readiness.
• Run incident response: Own detection/response tooling, runbooks, on-call readiness, and post-incident learning to continuously improve resilience.
• Be cross-functional and client-facing: Build relationships with cross-functional stakeholders and represent Thesis in customer security conversations.

We expect you to have:

• Technical security depth: 6-8+ years of engineering experience, with 2+ years focused on security engineering and shipping security improvements in production.
• Cloud & appsec foundation: Hands-on expertise with AWS security, network security, container/orchestration security, and secure SDLC practices.
• Compliance experience: Familiarity supporting SOC 2, HIPAA, or similar frameworks from a technical security standpoint.
• Automation mindset: Proficiency scripting/automating (Python, Bash, etc.) and comfort embedding security controls into CI/CD.Strong communication & ownership: The ability to influence engineering decisions and communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders (including customers).

We are looking for a product-minded Full Stack Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale Thesis’s core platform. This is a broad-scope, hands-on engineering role for a creative builder who cares deeply about product quality, user experience, and technical rigor. As an early member of the engineering team, you will play a foundational role in shaping Thesis’s product, systems, and engineering culture.

Responsibilities:

• Own core systems: Architect, implement, and maintain business-critical components that define and power Thesis’s product, including frontend experiences, backend services, and data flows.
• Build end-to-end features: Lead the full lifecycle of feature development, from greenfield technical design through production deployment and iteration.
• Partner cross-functionally: Collaborate closely with founders, product, and design to translate user, clinical, and business needs into scalable technical solutions.
• Continuously evolve the platform: Improve system architecture, scalability, developer experience, and operational excellence as the company grows.
• Build hands-on with AI/ML: Dive into our AI/ML codebase (agents, LLM/RAG systems, evaluation, and supporting pipelines) to design, implement, and iterate on product features that measurably improve user experience and outcomes.

We expect you to have:

• Technical depth: 4+ years of professional experience as a full stack software engineer delivering high-quality, production-grade software.
• Full-stack expertise: Strong experience across the stack, with deep strength in either frontend or backend technical design and implementation.
• Modern engineering toolkit: Hands-on experience with technologies such as TypeScript, Node.js, React, Next.js, Postgres, RPC-based architectures, and cloud platforms like AWS.
• Product and UX mindset: A strong belief in great design and user-centered problem solving, with experience building intuitive, polished user experiences.
• AI fluency: Familiarity with modern AI technologies and an interest in applying LLMs and automation to development processes and real-world product challenges.
• Healthcare awareness: Experience building systems that work with sensitive data and regulated environments, or a strong interest in learning healthcare workflows and constraints.
• Clear communication: Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
