The Function

The purpose of the Investment Finance and Operations function is to deliver target returns for Business Relief and Income Service investors. We achieve this by deploying raised capital and providing suitable financing facilities to both public and private sector entities, in line with the risk and return profiles defined for our investor base.

The Team

This team support the Private Credit business, working closely with the Origination, Finance, Credit and Technology teams. A key priority is the management of the lending life cycle of a £1.6bn growing portfolio with a focus on enhancing existing processes, support and oversight of day-to-day tasks, emphasis on strong controls and accuracy and enhancing data quality.

The Role

We are hiring two individuals to join our Private Credit Operations team. These are new roles designed as an entry point into financial services and lending operations for candidates with limited prior industry experience who are looking to begin or develop a career in the sector.

This is a broad, hands-on role supporting the day-to-day administration of a private credit loan portfolio across the full loan lifecycle.

You will gain exposure to how a lending business operates in practice while developing core operational, financial and stakeholder management skills.

The role sits across two areas:

Deal Operations – supporting new lending transactions and onboarding
In-Life Operations – supporting the ongoing administration of live loans

Over time, you may rotate across both areas to build a full understanding of the lending lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities (Both Teams)

• Support accurate and timely completion of operational tasks across the portfolio
• Maintain high standards of data quality and attention to detail
• Process activities in line with procedures and controls

• Support cash, invoice and loan processing activities
• Liaise with internal stakeholders across teams
• Escalate issues and risks clearly and promptly

Deal Operations

• Support deal completion and onboarding for new transactions
• Prepare and check documentation for new deals
• Set up borrowers and facilities in systems
• Assist with drawdowns and transaction execution
• Support transition from deal execution to live operations

In-Life Operations

• Support administration of live loans
• Assist with invoicing and payment tracking
• Support arrears administration and case tracking
• Assist with cash processing and reconciliations
• Monitor key dates and portfolio events
• Respond to internal queries

The Role

The Control & Reconciliation Executive will play a key role in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial and operational data across the Private Credit loan portfolio.  

We’re looking for someone who is early in their career, has gained experience in this area and has a  strong appetite to learn and grow.

This role will be responsible for key reconciliations, reviewing financial data, investigating discrepancies and ensuring that operational controls are operating effectively. The individual will work closely with the Operations and Finance teams to maintain robust processes and improve data quality across the lending platform.

The role requires strong analytical capability, excellent Excel skills, and a proactive approach to problem solving. The successful candidate will also support the ongoing improvement and automation of processes as the Private Credit platform continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

Reconciliations & Controls

• Oversight and review of participation contracts, including reconciliation of balances and investigation of discrepancies
• Review and support of bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Review and investigation of unallocated cash, ensuring timely resolution
• Own the reconciliation of transactions across the loan administration platform and banking records
• Ensure consistency and integrity of financial and operational data across loan administration systems, banking records, and reporting outputs
• Ensure appropriate documentation and evidence of reconciliations and controls
• Escalate material discrepancies, control breaches, or operational issues to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner
• Maintain and monitor key financial and operational controls to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements

Reporting & Data Oversight

• Responsible for CBILS and RLS reporting, ensuring data accuracy and timely submission
• Preparation and upload of HPI reporting and related regulatory or internal reporting requirements
• Review financial and operational data for accuracy and completeness

Financial Operations Support

• Support FX related processes and reviews where applicable
• Assist with the investigation and resolution of operational discrepancies across the loan book
• Work closely with Finance and Operations teams to ensure accurate posting and reporting of transactions

Process Improvement & Automation

• Identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls, and reduce manual intervention
• Support the implementation of new operational processes and system enhancements
• Contribute to automation initiatives, particularly through advanced use of Excel and data analysis tools
• Maintain and update process documentation and operational procedures where improvements or changes are implemented

Qualifications:

• Part-qualified or studying towards a professional accounting qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)  desirable, or relevant professional experience (qualified by experience)
• Experience working in financial operations, finance, or accounting within a lending, leasing, or financial services environment
• Strong experience in financial reconciliations, including bank, ledger, and transactional reconciliations
• Experience reviewing and reconciling loan balances, participation arrangements, or complex financial transactions
• Proven ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies across financial records, operational systems, and banking records
• Understanding of internal controls, financial governance frameworks, and audit documentation standards
• Experience supporting regulatory or scheme-based reporting (e.g., CBILS, RLS, or similar government-backed lending schemes)  desirable
• High level of attention to detail and data accuracy
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify root causes
• Process-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement

IT Skills:

• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data reconciliation, handling large datasets)
• Experience with financial systems, loan administration platforms, or banking systems
• Knowledge of data extraction, validation, and reconciliation across multiple systems
• Experience supporting automation initiatives or operational system enhancements
• Ability to identify inefficiencies in processes and implement improvements

The Function & Team

The Investment Finance and Operations team ensures the smooth financial and operational running of our investment platforms. They manage transactions, reporting and controls that underpin the performance and integrity of our funds and portfolios.

The Role

We are seeking a Cash Operations Executive to join the Private Credit Operations team and take responsibility of the Cash Operations function.

This is a hands-on role responsible for the accurate posting, allocation and monitoring of all cash movements across a c. £1.5bn loan portfolio spanning multiple funds and legal entities.

The role is critical in ensuring the integrity of loanbook cash records, timely processing of direct debits, and effective management of unallocated cash and participation payments.

Key Responsibilities

1.      Cash Posting & Allocation

•  Responsible for posting all daily cash movements from bank statements into the lending system.
•  Ensure all borrower receipts, interest, fees and other payments are accurately allocated.
•  Investigate and resolve any unallocated or misapplied cash in a timely manner.
• Work closely with Finance to ensure cash postings align with general ledger entries.
• Clear small residual balances (including 1p differences) and resolve reconciliation breaks.

2.      Direct Debit Processing

• Manage the end-to-end Direct Debit (DD) process.
• Prepare and submit DD files to the bank in line with agreed timetables.
• Monitor collections and investigate failed or rejected DDs.
• Ensure DD receipts are correctly posted and allocated within the lending system.
• Maintain accurate records of mandates and collection schedules.

3.      Participations & Settlements

• Process and settle participation payments across multiple funds/entities.
• Ensure cash is correctly allocated between participating parties.
• Support accurate recording of participation cashflows in the lending system.
•  Liaise with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate settlements.

4.      Payments & Overheads

• Monitor the shared payments inbox and respond to internal queries.
• Prepare and process the weekly overhead payment run.
• Ensure appropriate approvals are obtained prior to release of payments.
• Maintain strong controls around payment processing and documentation

5.      Operational Support

• Support month-end processes through timely completion of cash postings and reconciliations.
• Assist with audit requests relating to cash movements and reconciliations.
• Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives within Cash Operations.
• Maintain up-to-date process documentation.

Knowledge & Experience

Qualifications:

•  Relevant experience in cash operations, loan administration, or lending operations.
• Studying towards accounting exams such as AAT/ACA/ACCA/CIMA

Knowledge & Experience:

• Knowledge of facility agreements and lending documentation.
• Experience posting and allocating high volumes of cash transactions.
• Strong bank reconciliation experience.
• Experience working within a Leasing / Asset Finance financial services environment.
• Familiarity with Direct Debit processes.
• Comfortable working with financial systems and large data sets.

IT Skills:

•  Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, pivot tables and data analysis (macros desirable)
• Open to using AI to utilise solutions to enable smarter and more efficient ways of working.
• Experience using lending or finance systems.
