• The HPC Software Engineer designs, develops, tests, deploys, documents, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software for HPC (high performance computing) systems based upon documented requirements.  Critical for an HSE is either a very strong math background and/or a very strong computer hardware background. Projects are undertaken in small teams with close coordination with customers. All our engineers write code, but many of our engineers spend as much time taking systems apart as building new ones. A typical day can involve studying disassembly or writing Python to audit a piece of C++ code. May be opportunities to lead small teams of developers and/or researchers. Role Type:

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree and four (4) years' experience or minimum eight (8) years experience

Demonstrated experience programming in Assembly, C, C++, Java, Perl, or Python

Active and transferable U.S. government issued TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required prior to start date.

U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Understanding of OS Internals (i.e. Windo)

Experience with Vulnerability Research

Experience reading or writing assembly (x86, x64, ARM, PPC, MIPS, SPARC, 68k, or others)

Experience developing embedded systems

Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP stacks, wire-level protocols, RF communications, BGP, routing protocols, or others).

Understanding of exploit mitigations such as DEP and ASLR

Experience using reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro, HexRays, Ghidra, Binary Ninja, or objdump.

Experience using debuggers such as gdb, WinDbg, OllyDbg

Experience with BDI/JTAG

Experience with modern C++ development, such as RAII, C++11 and C++14.

Experience building and using tools to find, exploit, and productize vulnerabilities in complex software systems

Responsibilities:

• Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems. Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc. Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution of problems. Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers. Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process. Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity, and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. 4 years of additional experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree, for a total of 7 years. 
• 3+ years of System Administrator experience 
• Experience with:
  • Configuration and Maintenance of Virtual Machines
  • Linux operating systems
  • Scripting languages (e.g. Perl, bash, etc.)
  • OS and Software application patching (e.g. IAVA, Version updates)
• Attention to detail and time management
•  
• Active TS/SCI w/ FSP

Desired Skills:

• Understanding of and/or experience with:
  • Docker containerization and Kubernetes orchestration
  • Public Key Infrastructure (PKI)
