Account Executives and Account Managers, while helping transform the sales organization to meet the evolving needs of advertisers in a multi-platform marketplace.
This role is hands-on, strategic, and people-centric, balancing daily execution, coaching, accountability, and long-term revenue growth. The LSM reports directly to the Director of Sales and works closely with station leadership, marketing, digital, and content teams.
Responsibilities:
Sales Leadership & Revenue Growth
• Lead the execution of WTHR’s local revenue strategy across linear TV, CTV/OTT, digital,
sponsorships, and integrated marketing solutions.
• Drive new business development, category growth, and share gains through disciplined
prospecting and account expansion.
• Analyze pacing, performance, and market trends to proactively adjust strategy and ensure
revenue goals are met or exceeded.
• Champion the selling of full-funnel solutions, including Premion, local CTV,
sponsorships, and custom opportunities.
Team Development & Coaching
• Recruit, retain, and develop top-tier sales talent, with a strong focus on coaching,
accountability, and professional growth.
• Provide consistent, field-based coaching through ride-alongs, client meetings, proposal
development, and deal strategy sessions.
• Set clear expectations, performance standards, and individual goals aligned with station
objectives.
• Build a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Client & Market Leadership

• Ensure WTHR delivers best-in-class service, marketing insights, and results for clients.
• Partner with sales marketing, research, and digital teams to create impactful, data-driven
proposals.
• Serve as a visible market leader representing WTHR in the Indianapolis business
community.
Operational Excellence & Accountability
• Monitor and manage key performance metrics including pacing, market share, new
business activity, digital penetration, and execution quality.
• Maintain accurate forecasting, pipeline management, and CRM discipline.
• Leverage data, insights, and analytics to guide decision-making and performance reviews.
• Ensure alignment with TEGNA processes, tools, and compliance standards.
Requirements:
• 5–7 years of successful broadcast media sales experience.
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals in a fast-changing, competitive
environment.
• Strong understanding of linear TV, digital, OTT/CTV, sponsorships, and integrated
marketing solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and motivate sales teams to high performance.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to execute tactically and influence senior leadership.
• Commitment to building an inclusive, positive, and accountable team culture.
• Strong communication, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline pressure.

WTHR, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate in Indianapolis, is transforming the way we gather and present news, and we’re looking for a Story Desk Editor to embrace our transition to the newsroom of the future.
This hybrid role combines the skills of an assignment editor and a digital content producer to serve as the hub of the newsroom. The Story Desk Editor drives daily editorial execution, curates and produces impactful stories, and ensures our content connects authentically with audiences across streaming, digital, social and broadcast platforms.
Role Summary
As a Story Desk Editor, you will be part of the Story Management Desk (SMD), a unified desk that replaces the legacy assignment and digital desks. The SMD model ensures a single, streamlined workflow for planning, producing and curating stories across platforms.
You will lead coverage during breaking news, shape daily story planning, and curate content across platforms. This position requires decisive editorial judgment, strong writing skills, and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines. You will collaborate with MSJs, producers and photojournalists to deliver accurate, relevant and engaging stories that serve the community.
Responsibilities:
• Lead and communicate newsroom coverage during breaking news, ensuring accuracy, urgency and balance
• Identify and plan stories that matter most to the community, using editorial judgment and social listening
• Create and edit engaging content for digital platforms: website, mobile app and streaming,
• Guide newsroom logistics and provide editorial support for MSJs, producers, and photojournalists
• Edit reporter content for accuracy, grammar, AP style, digital best practices, fairness and ethical considerations
• Enhance storytelling with creative elements (graphics, video, audience-submitted content, etc.)
• Use available metrics to inform coverage and improve audience reach
• Support newsroom operations and coverage planning as needed
• Uphold TEGNA’s journalistic standards and values across all platforms
Requirements:
• 1–3 years of journalism experience in a local newsroom, digital production, or related role
• Strong news judgment and the ability to make fast, sound editorial decisions under pressure
• Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce accurate and compelling content quickly
• Experience with newsroom systems, CMS tools
• Organizational skills to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment
• A collaborative, solutions-focused mindset that thrives in a team environment

TEGNA Inc. is seeking a Payroll Processor to support day-to-day payroll operations for 5,500+ U.S.-based employees. This role is part of our Corporate HR Operations & Technology team and is based at WTHR in Indianapolis. This a hybrid role with 2 days of in-office requirement.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience processing payroll in UKG Pro and UKG Pro Workforce Management (WFM), with strong attention to detail, a compliance mindset, and a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Process multi-state, biweekly payroll accurately and on schedule using UKG Pro and UKG Pro WFM.
- Review and audit payroll data including timecards, earnings, deductions, and taxes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and system issues in a timely manner.
- Support payroll imports, adjustments, off-cycle payments, and retroactive transactions.
- Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting, and documentation to maintain SOX controls and audit readiness.
- Partner with HR, Finance, and managers to ensure accurate employee data and pay outcomes.
- Support year-end activities including W-2 validation and distribution.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce manual work, and strengthen payroll controls.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state environment.
- Hands-on experience with UKG Pro and UKG Pro Workforce Management (WFM) required.
- Strong knowledge of payroll concepts including taxes, garnishments, and deductions.
- Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting.
- High attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
