KARE-TV, the TEGNA-owned NBC affiliate, located in Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN is looking for a producer to join our morning team.
We have a fun group of journalists who are passionate about morning news and actually like working “unique” hours.
Breaking news, weather and traffic are the core of what we do…both on the air and on our digital platforms. We also care deeply about our community, sharing people’s stories and connecting with them over the air and in person.
Responsibilities:
• Work directly with Executive Producer & news leaders to consistently build a high-quality news show
• Quickly react to breaking news and manage the show's timing
• Booth continuous coverage on broadcast and live streams for breaking news, weather coverage, and community events
• Use our extensive toolkit along with your own creative production techniques to enhance stories
• Write in an exciting, accurate, and urgent way with creative time-stamps
• Enterprise news stories
• Research stories to ensure they are factual and ascertain sources’ credibility
• Use social media and digital tools to research, discover, and produce content
• Lead and inspire a team to work together for a great newscast
• Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer
• And most of all…have fun
Requirements:
• College degree in journalism, communications or similar
• 1-3 years full-time newscast producing experience
• Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
• Strong social media skills to deliver content and listen for ideas
• Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, and Axis graphics a plus
• Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines
• Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
• Shifts will include overnight hours, and may include holidays and weekends.

KARE 11, the TEGNA owned NBC affiliate in Minneapolis, MN is looking for a highly skilled artistic photographer and editor who can create sharable and exciting content for television, social media and mobile. We want journalists who can tell great stories on their own or with a team, photographers who bring new ideas for the future of journalism. Our ideal candidates are familiar with the latest photography, editing tools and techniques. They create unique and exciting content on all platforms. They are proficient with live news gathering tools and can participate in live performance on air and on live streaming when necessary.
Responsibilities:
• Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories, including but not limited to Edius and Adobe Products
• Produce original content on-air and on all digital platforms that evoke emotion and tell compelling stories
• Write and post daily on all digital platforms including attaching images and streaming video. Must include Social Media
• Use creative production techniques such as graphics and new forms of media (viewer pictures, webcam interviews, etc.) to enhance stories
• Contact sources and develop news stories. Cover breaking, general, sports, feature, investigative, and political news stories. Produce news stories that are unique and captivating
• Attend editorial meetings, participate in discussions, and suggest story ideas
• Edit and post video and text content stories for website
• Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer
Requirements:
• Current driver’s license and ability to operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations
• BA/BS in journalism, communications or related field
• 2-5 years of experience preferred
• Experience in photojournalism, editing, and content management systems
• Proven ability to generate creative, engaging, content-driven live shots
• Demonstrated social media proficiency, especially in the field, including an active news hound presence on Twitter and Facebook
• Member and active participant in NPPA preferred
• SNG experience
• Demonstrated news judgment, writing skills, photography experience, and non-linear editing skills.

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven technology or digital media sales Account Executive to join our team. The ideal candidate is fluent in all aspects of studio operations—including floor direction, camera and teleprompter operation, audio mixing, lighting, graphics, non-linear editing, and content management systems—and thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven newsroom.
Responsibilities:
• Direct live and recorded newscasts and special programming using both automated and manual production systems.
• Collaborate closely with news, production, and technical teams to deliver dynamic, accurate, and engaging broadcasts.
• Ensure the highest level of quality control across all live and pre-produced content, maintaining KARE11’s standard of visual excellence.
• Oversee and troubleshoot studio and control-room operations, including switchers, automation, graphics, audio, lighting, and playback systems.
• Operate and manage live streaming broadcasts using systems such as vMix to extend KARE11 content across digital platforms.
• Contribute to creative production elements, including camera blocking, lighting design, and show formatting, to elevate the viewer experience.
• Identify and resolve potential on-air issues quickly and effectively, especially during breaking news and live events.

Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in communications, Broadcast Production, or a related field preferred — equivalent experience considered.
• 3+ years of experience directing live newscasts or equivalent television production.
• Proven experience with production automation systems (e.g., Sony ELC, Ross OverDrive, or equivalent), video switchers, newsroom computer systems (ENPS), graphics platforms (Chyron or Ross XPression), and playout servers (BitCentral, etc.).
• Strong understanding of non-linear editing, content management systems, and studio production workflow.
• Ability to thrive under pressure, respond decisively to breaking news, and maintain composure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.

KARE-TV is on the hunt for a Chief Meteorologist who can lead a weather team and serve the Minneapolis-St. Paul market, and greater Minnesota. Our next Chief Meteorologist is a dynamic leader who has mastered every aspect of meteorology, from forecasting to preparing graphics, to reporting in the field, to being an integral part of severe weather coverage reaching our community on television, mobile and social media platforms. The Chief Meteorologist must have a passion for winning severe weather in all seasons and telling a compelling weather story even on bright sunny days. • Works with the News Director to create and implement strategic direction for weather coverage

• Assists News Director with recruiting and hiring for the weather team

The Broadcast Engineer Lead is responsible for shaping system design decisions, defining local engineering standards, and leading complex projects that directly impact station operations. Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership & Ownership
- System Accountability: Serve as the primary technical owner for key broadcast and IT systems; ensure reliability, scalability, and long-term performance.
- Strategic Direction: Make independent decisions regarding system architecture and technical standards within corporate guidelines.
- Modernization: Proactively identify opportunities for upgrades and recommend technology roadmaps aligned with evolving business needs.

- End-to-End Project Management: Lead the planning, technical design, and execution of major local, capital, and corporate engineering projects.

Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent professional experience also considered.

- Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience with broadcast systems, networking, servers, and desktop support. Knowledge of satellite, microwave, and IP newsgathering technologies is highly preferred.

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven technology or digital media sales Account Executive to join our team. This role is responsible for driving revenue growth through the sale of digital and television media solutions, including streaming and broadcast television, digital advertising, and content partnerships. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in digital sales, business development with a deep understanding of media and marketing trends, and the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships. This role requires a strategic approach to identifying opportunities, pitching solutions, and delivering measurable results for clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales & Revenue Generation: Drive sales by identifying and securing new business opportunities across multiple digital channels, including streaming, online video and display, and content marketing solutions.
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and nurture long-term relationships with clients, ensuring their marketing needs are met and identifying areas for upselling and cross-selling additional services.
- Consultative Selling: Provide consultative solutions to clients by understanding their business goals, analyzing market trends, and recommending tailored marketing strategies that drive results.
- Market Research & Lead Generation: Research industry trends and competitor offerings to develop a robust pipeline of prospective clients and stay ahead of market shifts.
- Proposal Development & Pitching: Craft compelling sales presentations and proposals that showcase the value of our media offerings, using data and insights to communicate potential ROI.

Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in digital media sales, advertising, or a related industry

- Strong understanding of digital marketing channels and industry trends, including programmatic, streaming media, display, video, social, and content marketing
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret data and analytics to provide actionable insights
- Self-motivated, with a passion for sales and digital media
- Proficient in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with ad management tools a plus

The Local Sales Manager (LSM) is responsible for growing market share and creating brand new TV/Digital business opportunities. The LSM manages and develops the Account Executives and Account Managers on the sales team and develops strategies to win over clients within the market. The LSM oversees performance and holds his team accountable for the achievement of their individual goals to achieve the collective objectives for both television and digital. Responsibilities:
- Recruit, retain and effectively train ‘A’ sales and support talent for your team on how to sell TV and TEGNA’s large portfolio of digital products.
- Lead and develop a team of direct reports consisting of Account Executives, Account Managers and manage a handful of dotted line reports.
- Supports sales staff with ride along coaching, participating in client meetings, developing proposals and other aspects of the full sales process.
- Identify market potential through lead generation and qualification.
- Develop sales strategy for your team and everyone on the team to reach or exceed revenue goals for the station.
- Analyze each account to create and maximize ideal marketing executions for clients, and complete appropriate business activity reports and forecasts as required.
- Develop strong relationships with local clients, manage key local accounts with your team and ensure top-shelf service is provided to all accounts.
- Review and adjust metrics to monitor sales/market share changes.
Requirements:
- 3-5 years of successful broadcast TV sales and account engagement experience.
- Track record of successfully achieving or exceeding sales goals in the broadcast TV industry within fast-changing, dynamic environments, spanning all the facets of marketing solutions from linear TV to digital, including OTT.
- Established leadership skills and demonstrated ability to develop teams with elite sales and customer service skills.
- Strategic thinker and disciplined executor comfortable developing and making recommendations to senior management.
- Possess the ability to build inclusive and positive work culture to foster success for the sales team.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Wide Orbit Sales, Salesforce, Wide Orbit Traffic & Wide Orbit Analytics, Comscore, Matrix, Media Monitors, and qualitative data.
