About the Team
STR’s Analytics & C2 (AC2) Division develops novel technologies to solve challenging national security problems through advanced analytics, sense-making, and autonomy technologies. Our team consists of passionate, motivated individuals with backgrounds and interests in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, and data science. We use our expertise and creativity to take innovative ideas from conception to mature implementation to improve mission success for our customers.
The Collaborative Autonomy and Controls (CAC) Group in the AC2 Division develops multi-agent autonomous systems executing multiple missions in a variety of operating domains. By leveraging expertise with machine learning, advanced algorithms, and software development best practices, we build technologies that transform reconnaissance, tactical operations, and many other mission areas.
The Role:
Work with CAC leadership to craft, drive, and execute a product development and marketing strategy that will integrate, test, and demonstrate CAC capabilities to achieve (1) more efficient re-use on new B2G (Business-to-Government) Research and Development opportunities, (2) integrated system offerings for B2G system acquisition opportunities, and (3) component and sub-system offerings for B2B (Business-to-Business) supply chain opportunities. Work with customers, end users, and CAC capability product owners to shape product development backlogs that balance short-term program goals with long-term and emerging customer needs. Work with a diverse set of customers and diverse set of problems, technology areas, and engineering teams. Support product architecture and design reviews as part of an agile development process. This position will take advantage of STR’s flexible, hybrid environment – when the work does not require use of STR’s facilities, you are welcome to work remotely.
Who You Are:
- BS in engineering or related technical field with 15+ years’ experience
- Demonstrated expertise in autonomy system and algorithm development
- Experience leading system and technology development teams
- Proven understanding of multi-agent systems, collaborative operations, coordination and orchestration algorithms, distributed sense-making and control, and collaborative autonomy stacks
- Proven understanding of motion planning, constraint optimization, perception, localization, mapping, controls, and related system performance metrics.
- Proven ability to lead moderate to large engineering teams (10-40 engineers) through complete Agile development lifecycle including task definition, delegation, and maintenance
- Demonstrated experience in working with both internal leadership and external customers in the development and execution of technology and system development programs
- US. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance
Even Better:
- MBA or advanced degree in technical field
- Experience with intelligent system architectures and machine learning methods
- Active Security Clearance
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $265,000.00 - $325,000.00

About the Team:
The Sensors Division at STR focuses on technology development for advanced sensor systems and platforms in support of national security requirements. Our particular focus areas include airborne/spaceborne/surface-based radar, electronic warfare, underwater acoustics, hyperspectral imaging, and EO/IR sensing. To support these missions, the Division’s efforts span multiple technical areas, including RF analog/digital hardware, acoustic hardware, signal processing algorithms, machine learning algorithms, systems analysis, and real-time embedded processor implementation.
The Algorithms, Processing and Experimentation (APEX) Group specializes in development of RF/radar modes, skills and applications, with particular emphasis on advanced signal processing chains and associated algorithm research. We mature these technologies with the objective of implementation, integration, and eventual utility in RF-based systems, typically tailoring our work for highly specific Defense (e.g., Air Force, Space Force, Navy, DARPA, etc.) and Intelligence Community needs.
About the Role:
As a Principal Signal Processing Researcher, you will create and lead technical teams that develop, test, integrate, and demonstrate novel signal processing, optimization, and machine learning algorithms for advanced electronic warfare and sensor applications.
A successful candidate will have demonstrated leadership skills and substantial expertise in several of the following areas: optimization, electronic warfare, adaptive signal processing, machine learning, algorithm development, algorithm integration, test & evaluation, model & simulation, systems engineering, radar systems, or communications systems. This position requires skills working as part of and leading multi-disciplinary teams designing, analyzing, integrating, and demonstrating signal processing algorithms for complex systems.
What you will do:
- Develop electronic warfare and radar system concepts, signal processing and machine learning algorithms, and RF solutions to remote sensing challenges
- Provide technical leadership to small, multi-disciplinary teams that develop, implement, test, and integrate novel sensing, electronic warfare, and signal processing systems
- Direct Modeling and Simulation activities of advanced RF systems in support of algorithm development, test, and integration
- Plan and support algorithm test and evaluation activities, including performance assessment in laboratory and field environments
- Clearly communicate with customers, stakeholders, sponsors, prime- and subcontractors
Who you are:
- Active Security Clearance, with eligibility to support special access programs, for which US Citizenship is required by the US government
- PhD, MS, or BS in Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or related technical discipline with 8–10+ years of relevant experience depending on degree
- Strong scientific programming skills including Matlab, Python, Simulink and/or C/C++
- Strong communication skills and the ability to describe complex technical concepts to fellow researchers as well as to non-technical people
- Ability to translate customer requirements to determine research focus
- Ability to create and present deep technical briefings as well as high-level briefings to Customers and senior management
- Experience with designing, implementing, testing, and analyzing ML/AI algorithms
- Strong understanding of radar architectures, waveforms, modes, and RF signal chains
Even Better:
- Current TS/SSBI with SCI and ability to gain and hold SCI/SAP accreditations
- Experience with advanced RF system concepts, signal processing, open architectures, and systems integration
- Experience in Software Development
- Ability to survey literature to determine state-of-the-art, incorporate recent research, and transition it into integrated, tested solutions
- Understanding and experience interacting with decision-makers and customers to translate mission needs into an end-to-end, integrated analytical solution

STR is hiring a Principal Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) in our Woburn, MA office (other locations: Dayton, OH & Arlington, VA) to work across a broad portfolio of DoD mission areas. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining development environments, build systems, and tooling that enable rapid prototyping and transition of algorithms from research to real-time implementation.

About the Team:
The Real-time Architectures, Integration, and Demonstration (RAID) Group focuses on transition of algorithms from concept to real-time software, providing open architecture expertise, and facilitating integration of capabilities for experimentation, test, and deployment.
The Role:
As a Senior DevOps Engineer you will establish and maintain a continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) infrastructure for real-time embedded systems software. You will work with software development teams to implement build automation, testing frameworks, containerization, and deployment pipelines for complex embedded and distributed systems. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining development environments, build systems, and tooling that enable rapid prototyping and transition of algorithms from research to real-time implementation.
What you will do:
- Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines for multi-language, multi-platform software projects
- Establish and maintain containerized development and deployment environments (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Implement automated build systems for C/C++ and Python codebases using CMake, Conan, and similar tools
- Create and maintain automated testing frameworks (unit tests, integration tests, system tests)
- Implement security scanning and vulnerability assessment tools in CI/CD pipelines
- Manage version control workflows and branching strategies for collaborative development
- Configure and maintain GitLab runners, build agents, and testing infrastructure across multiple sites
- Develop scripts and tools to automate software deployment to embedded and distributed systems
- Monitor build health, test coverage, code quality metrics, and system performance
- Support developers across multiple teams in resolving build, dependency, and environment issues
- Document DevOps processes, tools, best practices, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, security, IT, and integration teams
- Support approximately 20% travel for system integration events and customer demonstrations
Who you are:
- Active Secret security clearance with ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance, for which U.S. citizenship is a government requirement
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with relevant experience depending on degree (BS +5 years, MS +3 years, PhD +1 year)
- Strong proficiency with Linux system administration and embedded Linux environments
- Experience with:
- CI/CD platforms (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar)
- Scripting languages (Bash, Python)
- Containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Build systems for C/C++ projects (CMake, Make, or similar)
- Version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows

- Active Top Secret clearance (TS/SCI preferred)

- Lead technical teams in architecting, developing, and deploying real-time RF sensor software derived from diverse sources
- Transition advanced algorithms from MATLAB/Python prototypes to optimized production C/C++ implementations within open architecture frameworks
- Optimize software performance for real-time, resource-constrained systems with strict latency requirements
- Architect communication infrastructure and data flows for distributed processing systems
- Lead end-to-end open system integration efforts including hardware-in-the-loop testing, ensuring seamless integration across distributed architectures, external systems, and hardware platforms
