System is hiring a Community Manager to help us build and nurture a global network of systems thinkers. In close collaboration with Product, they will champion our applications within research and policy communities, foster meaningful engagement, and create the conditions for learning, collaboration, and collective impact. This person would report to VP Public Benefit.

As a Community Manager, you will:

• Act as the primary liaison between the user community and the product team
• Develop and execute strategies to increase awareness, adoption, and active participation within target communities.
• Provide ongoing support to users, addressing questions, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive experience with the platform.
• Collaborate with Product, Marketing, and other internal teams to align community initiatives with product development and company goals.
• Track and analyze community engagement metrics to inform outreach strategies and product improvements.
• Act as a voice of the community internally, advocating for user needs and identifying opportunities for innovation.
• Plan and execute community events—both virtual and in-person—to foster engagement, strengthen relationships, and grow brand loyalty among members.

The ideal candidate has:

• 3+ years of work experience at least of 2 of which were spent working closely with data scientists, researchers or expert communities
• Proven expertise building thriving communities, and in project management and developing strategic partnerships
•  Demonstrated excellent organizational, planning and communication skills 
•  Demonstrated team orientation with strong ability to drive projects autonomously as needed
• The drive to work in a dynamic, start up environment
•  A thoughtful, values- and data-driven approach  

The salary range for this position is $140,000 to $170,000.

We are hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help expand our growing suite of products. You will be responsible for owning, designing and delivering highly scalable software working along-side a world-class team. This is an ideal role for an engineer who is ready to make an impact on the future of science and data. This person will report to the Director of AI and Engineering.

As Senior Software Engineer, you will:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain REST APIs at scale
• Build resilient infrastructure for serving data at scale and with high availability
• Drive technical planning and contribute to the overall engineering strategy
• Develop and maintain continuous integration and deployment processes
• Work on innovative and cutting edge solutions for advanced and challenging data stories
• Be involved in code reviews, unit testing and development strategies in an agile environment
• Influence culture, recruit new engineers, and shape a rapidly growing startup
• Help shape our engineering culture, contributing to best practices and lessons you’ve learned throughout your career

The ideal candidate has:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering
• Strong experience with REST API development
• Expertise in writing distributed, highly available, enterprise grade services
• A deep understanding of systems design, data structures, and algorithms
• Knowledge in using, maintaining, and documenting infrastructure as code in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure)
• Strong experience with at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Typescript, or Go
• Ability to be flexible, rational and open-minded

Bonus if the candidate has:

• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
• Knowledge of microservice architecture and design principles
• Extensive experience deploying monitoring and supporting production services
• Familiarity with tackling data migrations while maintaining service availability.
• Experience working with knowledge graphs or graph databases

The salary range for this position is $180,000 to $230,000 per year.

System is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our team. The primary responsibility for this role will be to design and deploy scalable, data-intensive pipelines and backend services that power high-impact applications advancing public benefit goals. You will work closely with our AI and engineering teams to build resilient data infrastructure and backend systems that support transparent analytics, machine learning, and open knowledge initiatives. The Senior Software Engineer will report to our Head of AI and Engineering.

As Senior Software Engineer, you will:

• Design, build, and maintain backend services that advance the company’s public benefit mission and support open data and open knowledge initiatives, ensuring reliability, scalability, and measurable societal impact.
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate public benefit objectives and open science principles into technical requirements and system designs.
• Architect and maintain backend systems that reliably serve large user bases and high-volume data workloads, while prioritizing data transparency, accessibility, and ethical use.
• Collaborate with engineering and product teams to design robust APIs and open data interfaces that empower external researchers, partners, and the public.
• Prototype and research new tools for improving existing data infrastructure (e.g., vector databases, distributed data systems, high-performance storage layers), with an emphasis on sharing and enabling open science.
• Be involved in code reviews, unit testing and development strategies in an agile environment
