The reality is that today's solar technology is good, but not good enough.
Swift Solar is making solar better with its breakthrough tandem technology that harnesses the power of perovskite materials to create solar solutions that are not only more efficient than traditional technology but also more versatile, enabling applications ranging from space solar to utility-scale power generation.
Swift Solar is a mission-focused startup supported by the US government and backed by world-class investors. It’s a long journey to bring a new clean energy technology to market, and we’re in it for the long haul, together. Join our extraordinary team building the cutting-edge solar technology that will shape the future of the global solar industry.
Swift needs a hands-on IT and security leader who can own today's operations and build the infrastructure foundation needed for tomorrow's manufacturing sites.
Day-to-day, you'll run the full scope of Swift IT — onboarding and offboarding, device management, incident response, and system upgrades — while keeping the issue-management system visible so nothing falls through the cracks. Security is a core part of this role: you'll enforce least-privilege access, define access boundaries for sensitive systems, tighten endpoint hygiene, and design secure vendor-access patterns across our mixed office, lab, and shared-system environments. You'll also improve role-based access controls for technical collaboration across our U.S. and Germany teams and make sure Swift's security posture keeps pace as the company grows.
The bigger opportunity here is building the foundation for what comes next. As Swift scales toward manufacturing, you'll define the standards for site networking, shared workstations, vendor access, and endpoint deployment at new facilities. You'll design secure vendor-access and remote-support patterns for production-adjacent environments, and improve role-based access controls for sensitive technical collaboration across our U.S. and Germany teams. This is a rare chance to join early, build something real, and grow your scope as Swift grows — from a sharp, hands-on leader today into the architect of Swift's global IT infrastructure tomorrow.
We recognize that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often hesitate to apply if they don’t meet all the criteria. If you’re excited about this role and believe you can contribute to our team, we encourage you to apply—even if you don’t meet every qualification listed. We're eager to meet people from all backgrounds, and your unique skills and experiences could be exactly what we need.

As Senior Equipment Engineer on the night shift, your mission is to keep Swift's laboratory operations running smoothly after hours — providing hands-on sustaining and service support for our deposition tools and process equipment, and making sure the morning team walks into a lab that's ready to go.
On a typical night, you might start by checking SPC dashboards and deposition parameters, flagging anything that looks off to the relevant process or hardware owners. When a tool drifts out of spec, you're the one making the call — continue running, pause, or shut down — and then leading the effort to diagnose and fix the issue, whether it's vacuum instability, plasma variation, or a deposition uniformity problem. You'll restart vacuum systems and tools, review thin-film metrology results and adjust process parameters, and dig into tool logs and PLC data alongside the controls engineer. Throughout the shift, you'll coach and guide process technicians through real-time troubleshooting, helping them build confidence under pressure.
Beyond the tools themselves, you'll maintain facility equipment like compressors, gloveboxes, and chilled water systems, support spare-part tracking and consumables forecasting, and recommend improvements to operations. You'll be one of the go-to people for any safety questions or concerns that arise during the night. This is a role where strong hardware instincts, calm judgment, and the ability to mentor others all come together — and as an early member of the night shift team, you'll have a real hand in shaping how Swift operates around the clock.
We recognize that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often hesitate to apply if they don’t meet all the criteria. As the night shift's controls technical authority, your mission is to ensure all deposition equipment, controls systems, and facility infrastructure operate reliably overnight — diagnosing and resolving electrical and PLC-related failures safely and communicating to the day shift team when necessary.
On a typical night, you might start your 10 PM shift by reviewing handoff notes from the day team, then dive into troubleshooting a Beckhoff PLC-based control system that flagged an alarm during the evening run. You'll review I/O states and control logic, diagnose electrical faults using schematics, and partner with the equipment engineer to replace sensors, valves, MFCs, RF components, or pumps as needed. When a tool goes down, you'll work alongside the equipment engineer to get it back up — supporting mechanical repairs while leading the electrical and controls recovery. You'll also support the equipment engineer on facilities issues that arise overnight, from cooling water interruptions to gas supply problems.
When the tools are running smoothly, your nights shift to forward-looking work. You'll design and improve HMI systems for our deposition tools, develop automation routines and algorithms, and build documented troubleshooting trees so the team can resolve common failures faster. You'll implement predictive maintenance checks during off-peak hours, improve PLC alarm clarity and fault diagnostics, and strengthen spare parts readiness for the night crew. Your goal over the first 12–18 months: independently recover 90% or more of tool-down events on your shift, measurably reduce mean time to repair, and consistently leave the equipment in a state that allows process technicians to continue their work uninterrupted into the morning shift.
We recognize that candidates from underrepresented backgrounds often hesitate to apply if they don’t meet all the criteria. Join our extraordinary team building the cutting-edge solar technology that will shape the future of the global solar industry.
As a Process Technician on our night shift (10:00 PM – 6:30 AM PST) at Swift, you will play a central role in advancing the next generation of solar technology. You’ll help operate, refine, and scale our thin-film deposition processes, directly supporting our transition from R&D to manufacturable, high-throughput systems.
A typical night begins with a thorough review of the outgoing shift’s pass-down notes, carrying out experimental plans using the lab tools you’ve been trained on, and carefully documenting and sharing your results for the incoming day team. Because you’ll be one of a small number of people on-site, more of the role requires independent judgment—knowing when to troubleshoot on your own, when to escalate to an on-call engineer, and how to make sound decisions that keep experiments moving forward safely and accurately.
Much of the role still involves repeatable, detail-oriented work, following procedures, recording parameters, and monitoring tool performance to ensure consistent output. As you grow in the role, you’ll also take on responsibilities such as tracking supplies, flagging workflow issues, helping refine procedures, and writing thorough shift handoff logs so the day team can hit the ground running.
Because we’re an early-stage startup, you’ll get involved in many parts of the company. You’ll learn to adapt to new tools, experiments, and processes while contributing to Swift’s evolving technical capabilities. In this dynamic environment, you’ll find many opportunities to grow your skills, and we encourage you to take full advantage of them.
