The Opportunity
The Development Operations Associate supports the infrastructure and daily execution of Development fundraising operations at Chicago Public Media. This role ensures the timely and accurate processing of gifts, maintains data integrity within the CRM, supports donor stewardship workflows, and produces standardized operational reports.
This position plays a critical role in supporting organizational growth, particularly as Chicago Public Media expands philanthropic fundraising.
General Responsibilities
Gift Processing, Data Management, & Reporting (55%)
Own the accurate and timely processing of all philanthropic gifts, including:
Process all Development gifts and pledges in the CRM in coordination with the finance team
Ensure data accuracy of constituent data, financial data, and reporting data
Monitor pledge schedules and payment timelines
Build and maintain reports as they relate to other areas of responsibilities within the job description.
Monitor donor data managed with the CRM and provide support to ensure accuracy and standards of all Development donor data.
Donor Acknowledgment & Stewardship Workflow (25%)
Manage the operational execution of gift acknowledgments:
Produce and distribute Development donor acknowledgment letters in a timely manner
Maintain acknowledgment timelines and standards
Maintain acknowledgment templates
Manage the operational execution of Development tax letters:
Produce and distribute annual donor tax letters for Development donors
Event & Campaign Operations Support (20%)
Provide data and tracking support for fundraising events and future campaigns:
Manage event gift tracking
Support registration data workflows
Provide on-site support for Development events in coordination with the Events and Stewardship Manager.

The Opportunity
The Staff Accountant reports to and assists the Accounting Manager in the preparation and maintenance of CPM’s financial records and transactions. The position is the primary liaison with CPM’s Corporate Sponsorship team and is responsible for applied payments, invoicing, account aging review, and ad hoc reporting. The Staff Accountant also assists in the preparation of grant reporting, regulatory and tax filings, and CPM’s annual financial audit.

The Opportunity
The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for CPM’s financial modeling and reporting including but not limited to Executive Management and Board reporting, quarterly forecasts, annual operating plans, longer-term strategic analysis, detailed reporting for audit, tax, and grants, and reporting for the annual insurance renewal. The Senior Financial Analyst creates the financial update and business narrative for Finance Committee and Board of Directors meetings. In addition to financial modeling and reporting, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for analytical decision support and scenario modeling to assist with executive level, strategic decision-making. The Senior Financial Analyst is tasked with ensuring that CPM’s third-party financial software meets the organization’s financial objectives along with the organization’s reporting and compliance needs. The Senior Financial Analyst in partnership with the accounting team serves as the project manager, systems implementation manager, systems administrator, and trainer for key financial systems including the general ledger reporting software, FP&A reporting software, and expense reimbursement software. The Senior Financial Analyst has one direct report (Senior Data Analyst).

The Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist is a shared accounting role between Payroll and Accounts Payable. This role collaborates closely with Accounting, Human Resources (HR), and Accounts Payable and ensures timely and compliant processing of Payroll and Accounts Payable to support organizational financial processes. The Opportunity
The Accounting Manager is a hands-on, highly analytical individual with a strong foundation in not-for-profit and/or public accounting that leads our daily accounting operations while ensuring appropriate accounting compliance and control. The Accounting Manager bridges the gap between technical GAAP compliance and day-to-day operational excellence. The Accounting Manager oversees the general ledger, drives month-end close cycles, and ensures our organization is always "audit-ready.” This position is responsible for supervising the organization’s general accounting functions and manages three direct reports, an Accounting Supervisor and two Staff Accountants. The Accounting Manager interacts with individuals on all levels within the organization and provides accounting support to ensure compliance with agency and programmatic requirements.
The Accounting Manager must be a disciplined, analytical thinker who instinctively looks beyond the “what” of the numbers to investigate and understand the “why.” This individual must be able to identify underlying trends and anomalies and translate and communicate them into a cohesive, actionable narrative.

The Opportunity – Senior Counsel, Media Law
Chicago Public Media, Inc. (“CPM”) is looking for a Senior Counsel, Media Law, to join our public media organization. The Senior Counsel, Media Law, will support our award-winning journalists, editorial operations, marketing, events, membership and product teams at WBEZ and its affiliate, the Chicago Sun-Times. In addition, the role will support contract review, drafting and negotiation company-wide as well as compliance-related legal work. The Senior Counsel, Media Law, will report to the Chief Legal Officer of CPM and will work closely with other members of the law department, the organization’s Editor-in-Chief, executive and senior leadership teams.

The Graphic Design & Marketing Intern will work with CPM’s Marketing team to gain experience with branding, designing creative concepts and marketing strategies for radio shows, podcasts, events and more. By the end of the internship the Graphic Design & Marketing Intern will have experience with working with the Creative Manager on branding, executing marketing campaigns and assist in the creation of creative campaigns from concept to execution including but not limited to templating, layout design, social media asset creation, print, digital, video and physical assets.
The Graphic Design & Marketing Internship will be a 6 month long program at 24 hours/week. The rate of pay is $20/hour. We are located at Navy Pier in Chicago, Illinois. All interns MUST be able to work from our office and studios at Navy Pier in Chicago.
Chicago Public Media interns gain hands-on experience while working alongside some of the best talent in the business. Our hope is that — after receiving a solid foundation at Chicago Public Media — our interns continue to contribute to this industry.

The night assistant news editor is responsible for running the Sun-Times’ news coverage in the evenings. The editor will oversee the work of General Assignment reporters on the News Desk by assigning them stories, guiding their reporting and editing their news copy for print and online to ensure it meets our standards of excellence. The editor will work Tuesday through Saturday nights.

The Opportunity
The Audience Editor is within an operations role on the audience team and is responsible for working across the newsroom to connect and engage our audiences with our journalism, radio shows and audio content across platforms. This person will work with audience specialists, reporters and editors to adapt, create and edit WBEZ and Sun-Times original reporting and content into formats that best align with audience behaviors and platform best practices, including but not limited to web-based article formats, social posts, vertical video content, SEO, audio playlists, web displays, SMS initiatives, push alerts, special newsletters and experimentation with emerging platforms.
Audience work sits at the intersection of journalism, analytics and community engagement, ensuring our journalism reaches the right people at the right time, in the right format. At the core of the role is an understanding of audience behavior, digital best practices and platform strategy. This must all be done while upholding strong editorial standards and ensuring quality. With that in mind, this is not a marketing role. Editorial experience is a must.

Position Summary
We are seeking an entrepreneurial Senior Vice President, Sales and Sponsorship to join Chicago Public Media. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on creating new revenue opportunities, enjoys working across teams, and isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo of our current media sales systems. We want you to help us evolve our sponsorship and advertising businesses that are truly for the public of Chicago.
The Senior Vice President, Sales and Sponsorship will develop and execute a comprehensive advertising and sponsorship strategy that manages campaigns across multiple channels and platforms. This position will build a collaborative structure that leverages CPM’s talent and opportunity in Chicago’s vast corporate and community spaces.

Position Summary
Chicago Public Media is seeking a Managing Editor to lead our Chicago news coverage and help shape the future of regional nonprofit journalism. As a senior leader, you will partner closely with the Editor-in-Chief to execute the editorial vision for the nation’s largest local nonprofit newsroom, encompassing both the Chicago Sun-Times and WBEZ.
The Managing Editor ensures the strategic operation of our combined digital, print, and audio newsrooms.
