Starlink Gateways are advanced ground stations antennas that are responsible for delivering internet from the ground to satellites – they must be high-precision, low-cost, high-performance in all weather conditions (from the Arctic Circle to the desert), and ultra-reliable over long periods of time. As a mechanical engineer on gateways, you will holistically own complex hardware and system design for these ground stations. The mechanical team is responsible for the design of everything from cutting-edge composites and manufacturing technology, state-of-the-art RF vacuum electronics, to high-precision pointing and actuation systems. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own hardware from conceptual design through high-volume production and ground station deployment and operation
• Rapidly iterate on designs, analysis, and test to inform high-level system trades and steer overall product direction

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and implement highly available, fault-tolerant consumer devices and gateways that operate for long periods of time with minimal maintenance for millions of users
• Participate in architecture, design, and code reviews
• Develop prototypes to prove out key design concepts and quantify technical constraints
• Work with the Starlink factory to manufacture devices in-house
• Write quality Linux based software for common processors and microcontrollers (e.g. ARM, RISC V, etc.)

THERMAL ENGINEER (STARLINK)

As a thermal engineer, you are responsible for the thermal design, test, and validation of all Starlink hardware. In addition, you will own advanced parabolic antenna systems for our gateways/ground stations, which we deploy regionally throughout the world. You will design, implement, and verify small router antennas, phased arrays, and reflector antenna systems. You will interact regularly with senior leadership to influence the fundamental operation of our constellation and network while collaborating with electrical, silicon, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to steer this project from initial concept development to full-scale production.

• Design, fabricate, and characterize prototypes of antennas, feed systems, and RF front ends for next-generation phased arrays, gateways, and consumer wireless products
• Create electromagnetic simulation models of hardware (antennas, filters, PCB layout) to design and evaluate performance

At SpaceX, we are building the next generation of space infrastructure to enable large-scale AI data centers in orbit. We are seeking an experienced Machine Maintenance Specialist to provide advanced troubleshooting, repair, and modification support for complex solar cell production tools. • Provide advanced troubleshooting, repair, and modification support for complex solar cell production equipment and tools

SR. ELECTRICAL TEST DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER, CUSTOMER HARDWARE (STARLINK)

SpaceX is leveraging its experience in building rockets and spacecraft to deploy Starlink, the world’s most advanced broadband internet system. Starlink is the world’s largest satellite constellation and is providing fast, reliable internet to millions of users worldwide. We design, build, test, and operate all parts of the system – thousands of satellites, consumer receivers that allow users to connect within minutes of unboxing, and the software that brings it all together. We’ve only begun to scratch the surface of Starlink’s potential global impact. As we continue to upgrade and expand the constellation, we’re looking for best-in-class engineers to join the team.

As a Starlink Electrical Test Development Engineer, you’ll have complete ownership over the development of test solutions for characterizing the reliability and performance of millions of customer-facing devices that we ship directly to end users (Starlink dishes/user terminals, Wi-Fi routers, etc.). Our customers currently include teachers in the most remote parts of the Amazon, researchers in Antarctica, digital nomads who travel via RV, emergency responders, commercial airlines, cruise lines, and residential users who live in more rural or developing areas. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, and verification of development, production, and reliability test solutions. You will interact regularly with senior leadership to influence the fundamental operation of our products while collaborating with electrical, silicon, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to steer this project from initial concept development to full-scale production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and develop automated test solutions for our high-volume consumer phased arrays, WiFi routers, power supplies, and upcoming products
• Select commercial-off-the-shelf hardware and/or design custom PCBAs to measure signals, apply flight-like loads, and power units under test
• Write automation software in Python to interact with units under test, test equipment, instrumentation, field data, and production documentation systems
• Work closely with and consistently provide feedback to responsible design engineers, manufacturing engineers, and test lab teams to drive design or infrastructure improvements to increase product reliability and yield
• Challenge assumptions and work to find simple solutions to complex problems

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline
• 5+ years of experience with hardware development or electronics test engineering (internship and extracurricular experience is applicable)
• 5+ years of programming experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Experience analyzing circuits and developing functional test plans
• Experience designing and troubleshooting PCBAs
• Experience with test equipment and measurement techniques to verify and validate product requirements (oscilloscope, multimeter, electronic load, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, vector signal generator, source measurement unit, etc.)
• Understanding of electrical schematics and electronics manufacturing to analyze and improve test coverage
• Understanding of metrology, sources of measurement error, and uncertainty analysis
• Experience developing object-oriented software
• Thorough understanding of electronics reliability and failure mechanisms
• Understanding and experience in environmental testing such as HALT/HASS, thermal, vibration and TVAC
• Strong understanding of computers and programming languages (Python, C/C++)
• Demonstrated ability to work in a highly cross-functional role

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines

PRODUCTION TEST TECHNICIAN (STARLINK)

As a Production Test Technician on the Starlink team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of Starlink products through manufacturing and test.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Support production in critical SMT lines-down events
• Wire and assemble ATE during new SMT line bring-up
• Perform PCB solder rework and hand assembly
• Troubleshoot first pass yield issues
• Assemble cable harnesses and install in test racks
• Develop mechanical fixturing solutions
• Assess production compliance to company and industry standards

 BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 1+ years of experience working in a production, mechanical, or manufacturing environment

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years of test experience in a manufacturing environment
• Associate's degree in a technical or engineering field
• Experience working with root cause/corrective action systems
• Self-motivated, proactive, and experience managing multiple priorities and tasks
• Practical experience working within quality management systems (ISO 9001)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends, as needed
• Must be willing to work one of the following shifts upon completion of training:
• Monday-Friday: 1st shift (8:00am-6:00pm) or 2nd shift (3:00pm-1:00am)
• Schedule may vary depending on site operational needs and flexibility is required regarding overtime and weekend support
• Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, and lifting up to 25 lbs. unassisted
• Must be willing to work onsite in Bastrop, TX – remote work not considered
