MANAGER, CULINARY 

The Manager, Culinary is a leadership role dedicated to the oversight of a wide variety of departmental focuses in the support category within the culinary department, reporting directly to the executive chef. Team responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: ordering, receiving, back stocking, cleaning, basic maintenance, operations planning, service expansion projects, menu maintenance, internal auditing of food and workplace safety, and general help. An individual in this role will support a reporting structure comprised of Supervisors, Leads, and staff level individuals contributing to a selection of these responsibilities in multiple locations and groups around our Bastrop campus. A versatile leadership background in a variety of services, operational formats, and roles within culinary and food services is critical. Experience with budgeting, scheduling across multiple groups and work areas, conceptualization of work planning, process implementation, performance management, and large team environments is expected. We are looking for a high-level communicator who is detail oriented, organized, and can drive efficiency in operations. The Manager, Culinary supports the mission by coordinating work across multiple Culinary and Food Service support teams and categories with the goal of driving team performance and monitoring wise usage of company resources. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages food ordering, receiving, logistics, and expenditures
• Coordinates houseman for equipment and event setup
• Manages product requisitions, charge-outs, and deliveries from outlets
• Maintains accurate inventory of products for all departmental areas
• Manages the operation of the Commissary kitchen
• Works with the culinary team to ensure the best product/vendor selection for cost and quality
• Maintains expenditure data and reporting for high-level visibility into spend per outlet
• Satisfies interdepartmental requests through our internal request system
• Manages porters for site support, food deliveries, and backstock
• Manages dishwashers for kitchen support
• Manages the product fulfillment from the Commissary kitchen and mise en place production
• Manages Starmarket for the operational stock, supply, and service
• Manages staff scheduling, payroll, and attendance for the team
• Supervises water, ice, and supply backstock deliveries around campus
• Supports internal delivery of supplies for daily operations and events
• Monitors and support equipment and asset management/preventative maintenance
• Supports daily services and other tasks as directed by management
• Coordinates communication across multiple teams with varied responsibility focuses
• Ensures a safe and clean work environment is maintained by teams across several workspaces
• Directs report management of Supervisor, Lead, hourly reports
• Maintains staff training and credentials are up to date
• Performs annual staff reviews, supports ongoing staff development, and succession planning

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 5+ years of restaurant or retail food service experience
• 3+ years of experience managing a team of 8 or more individuals

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years of inventory experience
• Have or be able to obtain food handler card
• Have or be able to obtain manager level food safety certification
• Advanced understanding of food safety and sanitation practices
• Customer service and or guest interaction experience

COOK – TEMPORARY

This is an entry-level line cook position for individuals who are familiar with basic cooking principles and techniques, have a firm understanding of all basic food safety principles, and can identify and use standard cooking equipment. Daily tasks will focus on food preparation and operating a station at one of our various food outlets, according to leadership’s specifications. The cook position supports SpaceX’s success by providing quality food options that boost morale and productivity. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set up, work, and maintain a clean and safe workstation
• Complete daily prep tasks
• Help the team meet time and quality standards set by the supervisor
• Cook and plate completed dishes for service
• Clean kitchen equipment and work/storage areas

POSITION DETAILS:

PORTER - TEMPORARY

As a Porter at SpaceX, you will be interacting with our guests (employees), fellow staff members, and management staff in our private restaurant in a polite, courteous manner. You will also help with restocking supplies and other duties assigned by kitchen management.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Support daily operational logistics including delivery receiving, restocking, and internal distribution of supplies
• Conduct daily checks of water jug stations, soda bibs, and CO₂ systems to maintain uptime and service reliability
• Fulfill and deliver requisitions accurately, ensuring communication and documentation via internal systems and team channels
• Assist with weekly inventory counts and ordering cycles to support production and service schedules
• Verify product quality, expiration, and invoice accuracy during receiving; escalate discrepancies as needed
• Operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts) safely and efficiently once trained
• Maintain clean, organized, and compliant storage and staging areas
• Collaborate cross-functionally with culinary, café, and facilities teams to anticipate needs and prevent shortages
• Support special projects or operational setups as assigned by site leadership

BARISTA - TEMPORARY

The SpaceX Hospitality team serves employees, customers, government partners, potential clients, and visitors with snacks, daily meals, and full-service events. The Barista is a team-oriented role for individuals passionate about coffee, espresso, and tea preparation and service. Ideally, this individual has several years of barista experience, hands-on knowledge of espresso drinks, coffee flavor profiles, and coffee bar operations; knowledge of food operations and culinary arts is preferred. Candidates must understand basic customer service and food/beverage safety principles. The role involves using equipment like manual espresso machines, drip brewers, grinders, and serving utensils. Daily tasks include handling customer orders/inquiries, maintaining food service spaces, and setting up/working stations at various outlets per leadership specifications. This position supports SpaceX's mission by providing excellent customer service, quality beverage options, a welcoming atmosphere, and accurate order fulfillment to boost morale and productivity.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Set up, maintain, and clean workstations, surrounding areas, dining, work, and storage spaces to ensure safety and organization  
• Perform cleaning and maintenance on departmental tools, equipment, and drip coffee stations  
• Complete daily record keeping, tasks, and opening/closing checklists  
• Meet time and quality standards set by leadership while working with urgency  
• Engage customers, fulfill orders, and demonstrate strong customer service and communication skills (including menu changes)  
• Assist with catering and event requests

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage cost controls and control expenditures
• Create pricing schedules for all meals
• Source high quality ingredients with a focus on local, sustainable, and organic items
• Plan and create all menus with an emphasis on seasonal items and creative menu choices
• Purchase and manage inventory
• Enforce food quality
• Hold staff meetings for food safety, quality issues, and innovations
• Ensure the safety of the physical kitchen and café space
• Cater company events as needed
• Create a pleasant and fun environment for SpaceX employees to meet and share a meal
• Build a structure to deliver in-house catering and support company and special events

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate
• 3+ years of sous chef or culinary management experience

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Degree in culinary arts 
• High volume production and catering experience 
• Proven ability to create innovative menus daily
• Ability to perform under pressure
