Why Sony Interactive Entertainment?
Sony Interactive Entertainment isn’t just the Best Place to Play — it’s also the Best Place to Work. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is the company behind the PlayStation brand. As a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, we’re part of a proud legacy of innovation and excellence. SIE is a dynamic technology company, delivering cutting-edge hardware and network services to more than 100 million people and an entertainment leader, home to some of the most beloved and recognizable intellectual properties (IP) in the world. Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity.
In Games and Publishing Analytics, we work with some of the most legendary studios in the world, supporting teams behind PlayStation franchises such as Uncharted, The Last of Us, Ghost of Yotei, God of War, and Helldivers 2. We provide end-to-end analytics for PlayStation Studios, helping teams understand players, evaluate game systems, and make data-informed decisions from early development through launch.
We're looking for a Senior Game Data Analyst who brings strong analytical fundamentals, game curiosity, and the judgment to turn messy questions into practical insight.
As a Senior Game Data Analyst, you'll partner with game teams and publishing stakeholders to answer complex questions about player behavior, feature performance, commercial outcomes, and long-term game health.
You will:
Lead analysis across player behavior, feature and content performance, monetization, and overall game health.
Turn ambiguous design, product, and publishing questions into clear analytical plans and recommendations.
Develop proxy metrics for player-experience goals such as pacing, challenge, friction, agency, and build diversity.
Combine telemetry, playtests, surveys, sentiment, and product context to evaluate whether features are landing as intended.
Apply judgment to imperfect evidence, including small samples, pre-launch tests, incomplete telemetry, noisy signals, and bias.
Support commercial questions around launch, acquisition, segmentation, campaigns, and franchise health.
Build dashboards and analytical frameworks that support consistent decision-making.
Communicate insights clearly across design, product, publishing, research, engineering, data science, and leadership.
Strong SQL skills and experience working with large behavioral datasets, especially event-level gameplay data.
Strong exploratory analysis skills and the ability to turn raw gameplay data into clear insight.
Experience analyzing player behavior and game systems, including progression, combat, economy, difficulty, matchmaking, feature adoption, engagement, retention, or segmentation.
Experience partnering directly with designers, producers, product managers, researchers, engineers, or game leadership.
Ability to distinguish between similar-looking behavioral signals, such as challenge versus frustration, friction versus intentional difficulty, novelty versus durable engagement, or confusion versus experimentation.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain what the data supports, what remains uncertain, and what teams should do next.
A background in statistics, mathematics, economics, computer science, or another applied quantitative discipline.
4+ years of analytics experience in the games industry, ideally supporting game development, live operations, player behavior analysis, feature evaluation, or gameplay systems.
2+ years of experience working on a shipped game, live service game, or game team operating through rapid development cycles such as playtests, launch, live events, or content releases.
Familiarity with the realities of game development, including changing priorities, incomplete information, telemetry gaps, cross-functional dependencies, and decisions that cannot wait for perfect data.
Experience with Python, R, or statistical tooling for experimentation, causal inference, metric validation, forecasting, or behavioral modeling.
Experience with Looker, Power BI, MicroStrategy, Tableau, or another BI tool with a semantic layer.
Familiarity with Git or other reproducible analysis workflows.
Experience across live service or games with complex progression, economy, combat, content, or social systems.
Familiarity with publishing or commercial analytics, including acquisition, launch performance, campaign impact, monetization, forecasting, or franchise health.

Document and share learnings, standard operating procedures, and templates back into shared lifecycle playbooks to improve operational efficiency and consistency across titles.
This role is accountable for helping game teams deliver lifecycle campaigns efficiently and in a timely manner to match release goals. In success, this role will actively improve player satisfaction through well-operated campaigns, experimentation, and continuous optimization of how we use our tools.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in product management with hands-on knowledge of live operations, digital marketing, CRM, and digital products, tools, and campaigns.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and comfort managing multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, live-ops environment.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to turn complex requirements into structured plans and tool configurations.
Strong understanding of player behavior, game design, and live service models, with a passion for creating engaging and relevant player experiences.
Experience operating or supporting lifecycle, CRM, marketing automation, or experimentation tools in a production environment.
Familiarity with multiple types of live service games, including premium and free-to-play, and general games-as-a-service (GaaS) models.

Creating scalable solutions for wide-ranging technical troubleshooting and self-help for a large team.
Proactively educating the research team and Studio teams about research tools and infrastructure.
Owning relationships with relevant vendor partners and internal partners.
Qualifications
Experienced with full-stack coding for web-based applications primarily in PHP, JS, React, and utilizing relational databases.
Understanding of common services in AWS, including deploying and operating containerized services, networking fundamentals, and monitoring/alerting.
Technical writing.
Non-technical skills are as important as technical:
Strong verbal and written communicator.
Interest in learning & growing.
Willingness to collaboratively solve problems with their broad range of technical knowledge.
Critical thinker and problem solver.
Can-do attitude for troubleshooting and creating solutions.
