We’re looking for an Operations/Automation Engineer to support Slingshot’s growing portfolio of synthetic cell products. You will work across Manufacturing Operations, R&D, and Process Engineering to drive continuous quality improvements, equipment maintenance/calibration, and technology transfer from R&D to Manufacturing.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be detail-oriented, with a strong technical background and industry lab or manufacturing experience. Ideal candidates will also have experience in lab automation, and the ability to combine creative problem solving with the rigorous documentation required in a regulated industry. Experience with microfluidics, flow cytometry, chemistry, and/or life science is a plus. You should also be comfortable with analyzing data and writing technical reports to clearly communicate results or making recommendations to management. Responsibilities
- Work in cross functional teams to support R&D and Manufacturing Operations
- Validate, monitor, improve, and support essential technical equipment and manufacturing processes
- Identify and implement automated solutions to improve production capacity, efficiency, and throughput
- Minimize downtime by maintaining critical laboratory and manufacturing equipment
- Rigorously document processes to ensure regulatory compliance and maintain records within eQMS
- Ensure that all lab equipment is regularly calibrated to regulatory standards.
- Utilize CMMS software tools (e.g. Limble, Jira, AirTable, etc.) to organize and document the maintenance and calibration of industrial equipment.
- Draft and execute installation, operational, and performance qualification protocols for equipment used in production
- Manage and organize relationships with vendors and service providers
- Write technical reports and present them to the leadership team.
- Train personnel on equipment and processes related to the manufacturing of Slingshot products
- Support general lab activities (supply chain, operations)
- Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety guidelines
Requirements
- BS or MS in Engineering, or an equivalent demonstration of technical skills and background from work experience and STEM education
- Minimum of 3 years professional experience in biotech/manufacturing, or a related industry
- Hands-on problem solving experience, especially in the repair, maintenance, calibration and operation of manufacturing and/or scientific equipment
- Hands-on experience in implementing and programming lab automation solutions
- Experience with quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and working in regulated environments such as biopharma
- Basic proficiency with CAD and mechanical tools such as 3D printing for rapid prototyping and troubleshooting
- Experience with standard chemistry and/or life science lab workflows
- Knowledge of best practices for laboratory EH&S
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with attention to detail
- Strong organization and communication skills
- Ability to manage and negotiate relationships with vendors and service providers
- Experience with software tools (e.g., Limble, Jira, AirTable, etc.) for organizing and documenting equipment maintenance and calibration is preferred.
- Flow Cytometry experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with technical project management tools such as Jira or Github is a plus
- Proficiency with data analysis, statistics or coding tools (e.g. Python, R, JMP, Minitab, etc.) is a plus

We are seeking a visionary and execution-focused Senior Vice President of Operations to lead and scale our end-to-end operations as we transition from research-use-only (RUO) products into regulated markets.
This executive role sits at the intersection of production, regulatory affairs, quality systems, and supply chain, and is responsible for driving product development from concept through scale-up and commercialization. The ideal candidate is both a strategic leader and hands-on builder with deep expertise in biotechnology manufacturing, regulatory strategy, and global supply chain operations — ensuring delivery of high-quality products that enable advancements in cell-based research, diagnostics, and therapeutics worldwide.
Location: Emeryville, CA. This position requires on-site daily in Emeryville, California.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Executive Leadership
- Lead and scale end-to-end operations, including manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics
- Lead facility design, equipment qualification, process validation, and technology transfer
- Drive operational excellence via automation, lean manufacturing & continuous improvement
- Plan, budget, and manage operational capacity across custom and catalog product lines
- Expert user of Netsuite or a similar ERP system
- Partner with R&D, Commercial, and Finance to align product development
Regulatory Affairs & Compliance
- Develop and execute regulatory strategies to support product commercialization
- Support customer regulatory submissions by providing technical documentation and guidance

Quality Management Systems

This is a high-impact, highly strategic role that spans the full people operations lifecycle from talent acquisition and compensation design to compliance, benefits, and HRIS infrastructure. The ideal candidate is an experienced, execution-oriented HR professional who thrives in ambiguity, operates with the discipline of a department of one, and is capable of advising the CEO and executive team on workforce strategy while simultaneously managing day-to-day HR operations.

Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership & Organizational Design
- Serve as primary People & HR Business Partner to the CEO and C-suite, advising on workforce strategy, organizational design, performance, compensation, and risk management.
- Partner with the CEO and board on headcount planning and organizational restructuring, including communication strategy and change management execution.
- Advise functional leaders (Sales, R&D, Operations, G&A) on employee relations, performance management, and talent development.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Own end-to-end recruiting across all functions, including job description development, sourcing strategy, interview coordination, offer preparation, and ATS management (Greenhouse).
- Partner with external recruiting firms and manage agency relationships to support high-priority searches.
- Design and execute inclusive, high-quality onboarding experiences; manage background checks, I-9/E-Verify compliance, and new hire systems setup.
Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards
- Maintain and evolve the company’s compensation philosophy and leveling framework, benchmarking against market data.
- Develop and present offer letters, merit adjustment letters, and promotion documentation with defensible, board-ready language.
- Lead annual open enrollment and ongoing benefits administration in partnership with our benefits broker (Sequoia); evaluate plan competitiveness and manage carrier relationships.
- Oversee equity program administration and support annual merit, bonus, and equity cycles.
HRIS, Operations & Compliance
- Own HRIS strategy and administration; currently leading migration from Rippling to NetSuite SuitePeople HR in partnership with Finance and Operations.
- Evaluate and implement supplemental HR platforms to fill capability gaps (benefits administration, I-9/E-Verify) as the HRIS stack evolves.
- Maintain comprehensive employee records and ensure compliance with California, federal, and international employment law requirements.
- Manage international employment infrastructure via Employer of Record (Deel/Rippling) for EU and UK-based employees.
- Maintain audit-ready HR documentation and support legal counsel on employment matters, including investigations and separations.
- Quality Assurance:
- Ensure compliance with quality control measures, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
Employee Experience & Policy
- Own and maintain the Employee Handbook, HR policies, and labor & human rights documentation.
- Lead semi-annual performance review cycles, including calibrations, promotions, and coaching support for managers.
- Plan and coordinate employee engagement, training, and development initiatives.
- Manage offboarding, including exit interviews, separation documentation, and COBRA/benefits continuation.
Requirements
- Minimum 6+ years of progressive HR generalist or HR business partner experience, ideally in a life sciences, biotech, or regulated environment.
- Demonstrated experience as a solo HR practitioner or department of one, with the ability to operate both strategically and administratively.
- Strong working knowledge of California employment law, federal regulations, and international employment considerations (EU/UK a plus).
- Experience with ATS platforms (Greenhouse preferred) and HRIS systems (Rippling, NetSuite, or equivalent).
- Proven ability to design and communicate compensation frameworks using market benchmarking data (Carta or equivalent).
- Experience supporting or leading workforce reductions, restructurings, and organizational change management.
- Executive-level communication skills; able to advise C-suite and middle management with sound judgment and well-reasoned recommendations.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple high-stakes workstreams simultaneously.

We are seeking a Senior Technical Product Marketing Specialist to help shape how we bring complex scientific products to market. This role is ideal for someone with strong flow cytometry experience and a talent for translating technical detail into clear, compelling messaging for scientific and commercial audiences. The person in this role will own product positioning, messaging, pricing, and go-to-market strategy for assigned product lines; develop technical content and sales tools; support launches; write customer-facing copy; and help manage inbound customer communication across digital channels.
Responsibilities
- Own product positioning, messaging, pricing, and go-to-market strategy for assigned product lines
- Support product launches from pre-launch validation through collateral development and channel enablement
- Partner with R&D on new product concept validation and help inform product requirements by bringing flow cytometry expertise, customer insight, and market feedback into the product development process
- Develop and maintain technical content including application notes, product guides, protocol documents, FAQs, and comparison materials
- Write compelling customer-facing copy for product pages, launch materials, campaigns, and other commercial assets
- Build sales enablement tools including battle cards, competitive comparisons, and objection handling guides
- Conduct customer interviews and synthesize field feedback to inform positioning, pricing, and roadmap
- Monitor the competitive landscape, relevant publications, conference activity, and market pricing dynamics
- Serve as a front-line responder for inbound live chat, answering product and catalog questions, routing quote or custom-work inquiries to the appropriate sales team members, and translating recurring themes into improved website content, FAQs, and messaging
- Own the event calendar and logistics, develop presentation materials for scientific conferences including CYTO and regional flow cytometry events, and attend key events as needed
Requirements
- 4+ years of hands-on flow cytometry bench experience required
- Strong proficiency in panel design, compensation, and multi-platform instrument workflows
- Ability to independently author scientific and technical content
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for both scientific and commercial audiences
- Bachelor's degree or higher in a life sciences field; advanced degree preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in biopharma QC, cell therapy, or clinical flow cytometry
- Prior experience in product marketing, field applications, or scientific sales at a life sciences tools company
- Publication record or conference presentation experience
- Familiarity with CRM platforms such as HubSpot
