About the Role
Semafor is seeking an Executive Producer to lead and scale our fast-growing portfolio of video and audio shows, including flagship video podcasts. This is a senior, high-impact role responsible for end-to-end ownership of the portfolio — from development to production, distribution and commercial success.
This person will sit across the entire portfolio, driving both creative excellence and operational rigor, and will play a critical role in shaping the future of Semafor’s multimedia strategy.
Success in this role is defined by the cultivation of a high-performing, scalable portfolio of shows that delivers measurable audience and revenue growth while cementing Semafor’s distinct voice through breakout flagship series in both video and audio. You will act as the strategic bridge between editorial, audience, and commercial teams, ensuring every project is seamlessly integrated across the organization. Ultimately, you will build and lead a streamlined production operation capable of rapid expansion, maintaining elite quality standards even as our content footprint accelerates.
What You’ll Do
- Portfolio Leadership & Strategy
- Own the overall vision, strategy, and performance of Semafor’s show portfolio, serving as the central point of accountability across editorial, production, partnerships, and audience teams.
- Build a scalable slate of programming aligned with Semafor’s brand and audience prioritiesBuild a scalable, low-cost production model deeply engaged with new editing and distribution tools
- Show Development & Talent
- In partnership with editorial leadership and commercial teams identify and develop new show concepts.
- Lead the development and launch of new series from concept through pilot and full production
- Partner closely with editorial leadership to ensure editorial integrity and impact
- Coach and develop on-air talent (journalists, hosts, contributors) into high-performing, distinctive voices
- Shape formats, storytelling approaches, and creative direction across all shows
- Production Leadership
- Oversee end-to-end production across all series (pre-production, production, post-production, delivery)
- Use AI tools to scale production
- Manage and scale a team of producers, editors, and freelance/contract talent
- Establish efficient production workflows and standards to support growth
- Ensure consistent quality, pacing, and production value across all outputs
- Commercial & Partnerships
- Collaborate with commercial leadership to develop sponsor-ready show concepts and packages
- Define success metrics across editorial quality, audience growth, and commercial performance
- Ensure all sponsored content is executed to a high standard and meets agreed KPIs
- Balance editorial integrity with commercial objectives in a premium media environment
- Audience & Distribution
- Partner with audience development team to maximize audience reach and engagement
- Help define distribution strategies across platforms (YouTube, social, audio platforms, owned channels)
- Use data and insights to refine formats, improve performance, and scale successful series
- Operations & Scaling
- Build systems and processes to support a rapidly expanding portfolio
- Manage budgets, timelines, and resource allocation across multiple concurrent productions
What We’re Looking For
- 8–12+ years of experience in video, audio, or television production, with leadership responsibility
- Proven track record of launching and scaling successful video and/or podcast series
- Strong editorial judgment and storytelling instincts, ideally within news, business, or current affairs
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex productions
- Commercial acumen and experience working with sponsored content or branded media
- Deep understanding of digital distribution platforms and audience growth strategies
- Experience with, or at least interest in, new AI production tools
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Salary and Location information
This position is based in New York, NY at Semafor Headquarters.
Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours and travel domestically and internationally on an as-needed basis. This position is in office Monday - Thursday and work from home on Fridays.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $175,000 per year, is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.

About the Role
We’re looking for an early-career journalist to fill a paid, entry-level position as a Newsroom Fellow. The journalist will work across Semafor’s coverage verticals, with a focus on covering business, finance, leadership and CEOs, technology, media and energy.
The fellow is expected to help carry out administrative tasks, including helping build, produce, and publish a number of our newsletters. They will also help research stories alongside senior journalists, and contribute to breaking news coverage on our website.
Ideal candidates would be self-starters, keen to get involved in a growing newsroom, and contribute in any and all ways, including research, producing newsletters, and creating data visualizations to accompany our publications. Experience living or working in different countries is a plus.
As the position is based in New York, candidates must retain the right to work in the US. The Newsroom Fellow will report to the Breaking News Editor. Candidates will be asked to complete a writing exercise as part of the interview process.
Your responsibilities
- Work in a small team, providing critical admin, production, research, and other logistical support for Semafor across multiple verticals.
- At the direction of other editors, provide research and support for the reporting of stories and the production of newsletters and other products.
- Work with the Breaking News Editor to write breaking news stories for a globally aware and sophisticated audience.
- Stay on top of a broad range of issues to be able to identify topics of most interest to readers
- Collaborate closely with the rest of Editorial work seamlessly across all of Semafor, and contribute to other products as they are developed.
What makes you qualified
- A demonstrated interest in high-quality, globe-spanning journalism
- Prior experience, including fellowships, internships, a journalism degree or other journalism-related education is not required, but is an advantage
- A passion for world events and issues and a broad interest in a wide range of subjects
- A willingness to take on a variety of tasks and responsibilities
- A broad reading list across conventional and unconventional sources
- An eagerness to be part of a dynamic work environment demanding initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed
- Prior experience living or working in different countries, or speaking different languages, is an advantage
Compensation
We are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target annual salary range for this non-exempt position is $28-33 per hour. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall near the middle of this range. Compensation for the successful candidate will vary based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility, and qualifications.
- $25 per hour to $28 per hour
This is a fixed-term employment contract of six months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of two years. Standard working hours are from 9 am to 6 pm local time, Monday through Friday.

About the Role
Private credit, AI, politics, and other global forces are upending the world of business and finance, reordering how money moves around the globe. We’re looking for a tireless and talented senior editor to work alongside our marquee reporters as they break big stories on the bleeding edge of Wall Street — private investing, hedge funds, deals, activism, banking, prediction markets and private equity.
We’re looking for someone with outstanding news judgment, a global perspective, and a deep commitment to the reader, to help lead this key pillar of Semafor, edit some of our most important stories, and grow our global audience of leaders and decision-makers. You’ll also help write, produce and provide insight for our daily briefings, collaborating with journalists across Semafor’s newsroom.
Ideal candidates bring a strong track record of coaching reporters, elevating coverage, and enlivening prose, as well as experience in the pace and platforms of online breaking news.
This senior editor position will be based in Semafor's London office location. Candidates will be asked to complete a writing and editing exercise as part of the interview process, and must retain the right to work where they live.
Your responsibilities
- Edit some of our highest-profile scoops, analysis and stories
- Take a leadership role in the editing and production of the Semafor business and finance briefings
- Plan and coordinate coverage with colleagues and freelancers who operate across multiple time zones
- Collaborate closely and constantly with Semafor’s editing team, and other verticals across Semafor’s global newsroom
- Think constantly about story distribution and audiences, whether on social media or key partners and platforms
What makes you qualified
- 5+ years of relevant journalism experience, including newsroom management, leadership, or editing experience
- Experience in editing business and finance stories, with an ability to convey authority, insight, and nuance
- A fluidity in writing and a comfort with editing writers with unique voice
- A strategic, sophisticated approach to identifying the strongest angle across different issues, storylines, and geographies
- Eagerness to be part of a dynamic work environment demanding initiative, flexibility, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed to help the team succeed
Compensation: The base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $140,000 annually based on individual candidate experience.
