About this Role

Sage provides life-saving functionality that improves the lives of our older population. This role is critical to ensure Sage can live up to its mission to be a 24x7, highly available platform for elder care. As a Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll partner with engineering teams across the organization to achieve four 9s of uptime for our platform.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve highly reliable system architectures, ensuring high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability across Sage’s production infrastructure.
• Lead complex incident response efforts, coordinating across engineering teams to quickly diagnose and resolve production issues while driving thorough post-incident reviews and long-term reliability improvements.
• Define and implement organization-wide observability practices, including metrics, logging, tracing, and actionable alerting to ensure strong visibility into system health.
• Establish and maintain reliability standards, including defining SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets, and partnering with engineering teams to integrate these practices into the software development lifecycle.

• Build internal tooling and platforms that improve the developer experience, simplify debugging, and enable safer and more reliable deployments.

Qualifications

• 7-12+ years of experience in software engineering, infrastructure engineering, or site reliability engineering, operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Experience operating and supporting edge or device-based systems, including managing connectivity, observability, remote updates, and reliability for distributed hardware deployments such as IoT or field devices.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including experience debugging distributed system issues across load balancers, DNS, TLS, and VPC networking within platforms like Amazon Virtual Private Cloud or similar cloud networking environments.
• Experience operating and scaling production databases, including performance tuning, replication, backup/recovery strategies, and high availability for systems such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or distributed databases.
• Deep expertise in cloud infrastructure, such as Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform
• Strong experience designing and operating highly available systems, including strategies for redundancy, failover, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
• Expertise in containerization and orchestration, particularly with Kubernetes and modern container platforms.
• Advanced observability and monitoring skills, using tools such as Datadog, Prometheus or Grafana.
• Strong programming ability in languages commonly used for infrastructure and reliability engineering (e.g., Go, Python, or Java), with experience building internal tooling and automation.

About this Role

We are looking for a hands-on Tech Lead Manager to lead the engineering efforts for building cross-platform experiences as we realize the vision of a fully connected care platform. You will partner closely with Product, Design, Hardware, and business leaders to iterate and deliver on context-rich workflows that improve the caregiver experience so they can focus on providing quality care to their residents.

As an engineering leader on the Product Engineering team, you will set the foundation of our native strategy and collaborate with other engineers to build hardware + software solutions. Success in this role requires close attention to details, creative problem solving, and a strong bias toward action and experimentation.

Responsibilities

• Define the mobile application strategy, evaluating hybrid architectures candidates through hands-on proof-of-concept work and delivering a clear, written recommendation with tradeoffs the team can act on.
• Build the first iteration of our mobile app, both prototyping and building a production-ready version of our core platform.
• Establish the integration boundary between our existing web application and the native layer, ensuring web engineers can continue to ship features without being blocked by native build complexity.
• Own the end-to-end mobile build, release, and over-the-air update pipeline, from local development through app store submission and production delivery.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years leading engineering teams or projects.
• Experience shipping a production-grade native Android application to Google Play — you have personally navigated the full release pipeline, not just the code.
• Hands-on experience with at least one hybrid native framework (e.g. React Native, Ionic + CapacitorJS, Flutter + Dart, etc.) and a clear point of view on when hybrid is the right call versus full native.
• Experience integrating device APIs from a hybrid runtime — such as device identity, push notification delivery, or Bluetooth Low Energy peripheral interaction — not just reading documentation about them.
• Experience managing or mentoring engineers, including setting technical direction and conducting code review at an architectural level.
• Experience partnering closely with Product and Design leaders to shape product strategy and user-centered solutions.
• Track record of building experimentation-driven development processes and rapid MVP iteration cycles.

Preferred Qualifications

• Comfortable working across the full stack; able to collaborate with backend engineers on notification infrastructure and device management APIs without needing hand-holding on the contracts.
• Experience managing native application deployment pipelines end-to-end: versioning strategies, build automation, code signing, app store submission, and over-the-air update delivery.
• Experience building or operating a high-reliability push notification pipeline — device token lifecycle, delivery guarantees, and handling of silent vs. visible notifications.
• Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy — scanning, pairing, service/characteristic discovery, connection state management — in a production application on real hardware.
• Experience deploying and managing native applications through a mobile device management (MDM) platform, including app provisioning, configuration policy enforcement, and managing OS and app updates on enrolled device fleets.
• Experience with programmatic audio control on mobile: routing audio output, managing platform audio sessions, and handling system-level interruptions.
• Prior experience in a startup, incubation, or 0-to-1 environment where architectural decisions had long-lasting consequences.

About this Role

We are looking for a Senior/Staff Security Engineer to own and advance the security posture of our platform as we scale. You will be the dedicated security practitioner on the engineering team, responsible for hardening our cloud and edge infrastructure, driving compliance programs, building vulnerability management and incident response capabilities, and embedding security into the software development lifecycle.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role reporting to the Engineering Manager of Cloud and Security. You will work across AWS and GCP environments, partner closely with product engineering and platform teams, and have direct impact on Sage's ability to earn and maintain customer trust. Success in this role requires deep technical security skills, comfort operating across a broad surface area, and a bias toward practical, risk-proportionate solutions over checkbox compliance.

Responsibilities

• Harden and continuously improve the security of Sage's cloud infrastructure across AWS and GCP, including IAM policies, VPC configurations, security groups, and network segmentation.
• Own vulnerability management end to end: implement scanning, triage findings, coordinate remediation with engineering teams, and track resolution. Drive penetration test findings to closure on defined timelines.
• Build and maintain incident response capabilities, including detection tooling, runbooks, and post-incident analysis.
• Drive Sage's SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance programs forward, producing evidence, closing control gaps, and coordinating with external auditors.
• Implement and operate supply chain security controls, including dependency scanning, credential leak monitoring, and secret rotation automation.
• Embed security into CI/CD pipelines and the software development lifecycle through automated checks, secure defaults, and developer education.
• Conduct security reviews of architecture decisions, new services, and third-party integrations. Own the vendor security assessment process for evaluating and tracking third-party risk.
• Establish and maintain key and credential rotation policies with clear ownership and audit trails.
• Implement automated compliance scanning across cloud accounts and projects with defined triage workflows.
• Validate that disaster recovery procedures maintain security controls through failover, including encryption, access control, and network segmentation.
• Partner with engineering, product, and executive stakeholders to communicate security risk clearly and advocate for proportionate investment.

Minimum Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in security engineering, with demonstrated depth in cloud security (at least one of AWS or GCP required).
• Hands-on experience with IAM design, VPC architecture, security group management, and infrastructure hardening in production environments.
• Experience building or significantly improving vulnerability management programs, including tooling selection, integration, and triage workflows.
• Direct experience with SOC 2 and HIPAA compliance, including evidence collection, control implementation, and auditor interactions.
• Practical incident response experience: you have detected, investigated, and resolved real security incidents, not just written the plan.
• Experience securing containerized applications and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience securing device or edge computing environments, including firmware updates, device authentication, and network security for IoT or embedded systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. You can explain a risk finding to an engineer and a business stakeholder in the same day.
• Willing and excited to be in the office Tuesday through Thursday (NYC).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools for managing security controls declaratively.
• Familiarity with healthcare or other regulated industries where data protection has real consequences.
• Experience with supply chain security tooling (dependency scanning, SBOM generation, container image signing).
• Track record of building automated credential rotation and secret management pipelines.
• Experience operating security programs at a growth-stage startup where you had to prioritize ruthlessly and build from scratch.
• Relevant certifications (CISSP, AWS Security Specialty, GIAC) are a plus but not required if the experience is there.
• Comfortable reading and reviewing application code (Java preferred) to identify security issues such as overly broad token scoping, improper credential handling, and authentication/authorization flaws. Ability to contribute fixes directly is a plus.

About this Role

As a Senior Engineer on the Detect team working on applied machine learning, you're a fullstack engineer who owns the end-to-end lifecycle of the AI models that power our camera-based detection system — from data collection and labeling through prompting, training, evaluation, and production deployment. Today, Detect uses frontier multi-modal vision models to analyze video streams and detect falls in real time. Your job is to make these external models dramatically better and more capable.

You'll take ownership of our ML experimentation platform and infrastructure, maturing it into a robust system that enables the team to rapidly iterate on model quality at scale. You'll design repeatable fine-tuning pipelines that allow models to continuously improve with new production data, and expand the system's detection capabilities beyond falls into new behavioral categories. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role where you'll directly impact the accuracy of a life-saving system used every day by caregivers across the country.

• Improve detection accuracy and reduce false positives through prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, and novel inference strategies

About this Role

This Staff Data Product Developer will be a pivotal technical leader in our fast-growing startup. Operating at a Tech Lead level within the Analytics team, you will be the primary builder and architect of our client-facing data platform, Sage Insight. You will work autonomously, bringing a blend of technical expertise, product sense, and an entrepreneurial spirit to translate user needs into robust, scalable data applications.

While this is a highly senior role, you will not be an "ivory tower" architect; you will be hands-on developing 80% of the time in your first 6-9 months. You will apply software engineering best practices to a low/no-code environment (specifically Palantir Foundry), partnering closely with our Product and Design teams. Your goal is to ensure our clients have a seamless, intuitive, and powerful experience when interacting with their data. • A minimum of 2 years of experience in full-stack application development within a low-code or no-code app development environment.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience leading technical projects, with a demonstrated ability to own project delivery and guide technical execution.

About this Role

As a Senior/Staff Backend IoT Engineer, you will be a technical leader responsible for bridging physical systems at senior living communities with the cloud computing infrastructure that powers the Sage platform. You will define the architectural direction for our edge computing systems and drive technical decisions that impact the entire organization. You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and Implementation teams to help create the next generation of software/hardware solutions that revolutionize care in senior living. Beyond individual contribution, you will mentor engineers across the team, establish engineering best practices, and serve as a key technical voice in company-wide strategic decisions.

You will have the opportunity to own multiple projects (e.g., fall detection, location tracking technology, integration with third-party hardware). Your contributions to the edge and backend technology stacks will directly impact the ability to scale the adoption of Sage's offerings and improve the senior living industry.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical architecture for Sage's edge computing platform, balancing immediate delivery needs with long-term scalability.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning Hardware, Cloud Infrastructure, and Client Success to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Mentor and grow engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Develop greenfield solutions to solve some of the most challenging problems in the senior living industry.
• Develop software that will run on thousands of on-premise deployed systems and design the cloud systems that will allow for their orchestration.
• Create and maintain software to create high fidelity diagnostics of edge hardware.
• Design methods to train machine learning models that determine location of residents at senior living communities.
• Develop full-stack services and review pull requests with the broader engineering team, raising the bar for code quality and system design.
• Remotely troubleshoot and diagnose issues with edge deployed hardware and software, working closely with support and client success teams to systematically address root causes.

Minimum Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant depth in backend and/or embedded systems
• Track record of leading complex technical projects from conception through delivery, influencing outcomes across team boundaries
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and elevate team capabilities
• Proven experience and proficiency in Java and object oriented principles
• Working knowledge of Linux, networking and RF communication
• Strong communication skills, with experience presenting technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• A history of coming up with solutions to problems that could be described as MacGyver-esque (in a good way!)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing high-availability production Java systems
• Experience customizing Linux distributions for commercial deployment
• Experience designing systems that span edge and cloud environments, including challenges like intermittent connectivity, over-the-air updates, and fleet management
• Experience working with AWS backend technologies and distributed systems
• Background in IoT, healthcare technology, or regulated industries
• Experience with some of the technologies listed here and opinions on what makes some better than others and why

About this Role

This role is a senior backend engineer on the EHR Integrations team who will drive forward the development of the core tasking workflows. We are starting to make large investments on EHR integrations to better capture care and improve day to day work flows for our caregivers and communities.

You'll be responsible for understanding and implementing complex data flows between EHRs (Electronic Health Record) and Sage, and tackling difficult data problems. You are excited about making an impact on caregivers, ultimately improving quality of care given to residents, and setting up the Sage ecosystem to have high quality data around care provided. You work cross-functionally to gather requirements, ask the right questions, and drive alignment on what to build.

Responsibilities

These are examples of projects that you’d work on:

• Partner with product and data teams to build and deepen EHR integrations
• Develop data-intensive applications, potentially leveraging genAI, for both internal and external users
• Shepherd integrations between core Sage applications and data platform in partnership with other engineering teams
• Implement complex authentication and authorization flows, including customer SSO/identity provider integration
• Build, manage, and optimize compute-intensive data pipelines

Minimum Qualifications:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with significant depth in backend and/or distributed ETL systems
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs
• Understanding of authentication and authorization concepts, including OAuth, and machine to machine access
• General experience/knowledge of backend service frameworks, such as Spring, Dropwizard, Django, etc
• Experience with developing and deploying services in a containerized environment, ex: Docker or Kubernetes
• Experience with general database operations, including designing and writing database tables and queries, general knowledge of indices, and experience optimizing queries
• Experience with distributed systems, including knowledge of (but not limited to) load balancers, proxies, APIs, rate limiting, scaling
• Familiarity with ETL methodologies, real-time and batch processing architectures, and the engineering best practices that underpin reliable, scalable data integration solutions.
