Engineering Test Technician, Energy Storage

As an early member of a new engineering technician team, you will play a key role in building, setting up, and running tests to support the development of a new product at Redwood Materials. You’ll work hands-on across mechanical, electrical, and basic software tools to help validate product performance and reliability. You will support all phases of the hardware development lifecycle from early design validation and long-term reliability testing to final process validation by assembling test setups, operating equipment safely, capturing data, and troubleshooting issues as they arise. This role requires a proactive, can-do attitude with careful attention to detail and a strong safety mindset.

Hours: Full-time, Days

Responsibilities Will Include:

• Build, set up, and execute validation tests for a new electromechanical product
• Partner with cross-functional teams (design, reliability, and abuse engineers) to support FMEAs and test plan execution
• Assemble, install, and maintain test infrastructure such as fixtures, sensors, actuators, chambers, and power supplies
• Operate test equipment, follow procedures, and ensure safe handling of high-voltage systems and lab hardware
• Collect, organize, and document test data, observations, and results clearly and consistently
• Perform basic failure triage and support failure analysis through teardown, inspections, and root-cause investigations
• Troubleshoot test setups and hardware issues; escalate and collaborate to resolve blockers quickly
• Support test automation and data logging tools (e.g., running scripts, validating outputs, contributing small updates as needed)
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) line operations by assisting with product assembly, build readiness, and day-to-day troubleshooting. Create, update, and maintain build documentation, including work instructions, assembly procedures, and change logs to ensure accurate and repeatable processes
• Support with the management of lab inventory, organization, and power infrastructure. Assembly and validation of high-voltage harnesses and electrical sub-systems, including wiring, terminations, and integration while ensuring full compliance with electrical safety requirements and site policies

Desired Qualifications:

• Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, or related fields
• 3+ years of experience in a lab, manufacturing, or test environment (technician, engineering tech, or similar role)
• Experience working with or around high-voltage systems (400–2000VDC and 480–800VAC) and strong safety discipline (LOTO, PPE, safe work practices)
• Strong hands-on skills with mechanical assembly, wiring, sensors, instrumentation, and lab equipment
• Comfortable following test procedures, maintaining detailed documentation, and producing clear test summaries
• Familiarity with basic scripting or automation tools (Python a plus) and the ability to learn new tools quickly
• Strong communication and teamwork skills; able to work effectively with engineers and stakeholders across levels
• A get-it-done attitude—willing to jump in, own tasks end-to-end, and do what’s needed to support the team

Physical Requirements:  

• Ability to perform essential physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, stooping, climbing, lifting (up to 25 lbs), typing, and performing repetitive motions
• Manual dexterity to work with small components under a microscope for extended periods, including precision soldering and handling heavy copper assemblies

Working Conditions:  

• Ability to work in working conditions which may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, and temperature extremes, while protected by PPE, for extended periods of time
• Occasional travel required and flexibility to work weekends, nights, or on call as needed

Development Engineering Technician

The Development Engineering Technician at Redwood Materials supports research and pilot-scale operations by executing laboratory and manufacturing experiments that drive the development of new equipment, process flowsheets, and sustainable products. This role is responsible for building and maintaining lab and pilot equipment, preparing solutions, conducting wet-chemistry bench experiments, and powder handling, and mechanical analyses. The technician monitors and troubleshoots experiments in both lab and high-volume production environments while supporting the development and validation of new metrology systems. Success in this position requires strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on laboratory experience, attention to safety, and the ability to follow detailed technical procedures in fast-paced conditions. The ideal candidate is organized, technically skilled, safety-conscious, and motivated by a passion for sustainability and innovation.

Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday-Friday

Responsibilities will Include:

• Build and maintain pilot and lab equipment
• Prepare solutions and conduct wet-chemistry bench experiments

• Run and monitor experiments in high volume manufacturing and in a fast-paced environment

Staff Mechanical Design Engineer, EPC 

Redwood Materials is hiring for a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction team. This role is at the center of our activities focused on creating a sustainable circular economy for lithium-ion batteries by transforming recycled materials into battery materials for new lithium-ion battery production. 

Responsibilities will include: 

• Serve as Mechanical Engineer of Record on projects (Hazardous occupancy, clean and dry spaces, chemical process / industrial plants), responsible for mechanical / plumbing deliverables (specifications, calculations, permit / construction documents). 
• Design ownership for a wide range of mechanical and plumbing systems including, but not limited to: industrial/non-potable water, HVAC systems (labs, offices, industrial plants), process heating / cooling systems humidifiers, dehumidifiers, abatement systems (dust collectors, scrubbers), cooling towers, fans/pumps, plumbing, etc. 
• Review conceptual designs from developing Engineers and identify technical and financial risks. 
• Responsible for designing/reviewing mechanical engineering deliverables with respect to code compliance and ensuring design maintains the highest level of quality. 
• Develop and improve project workflows and standards to ensure each design is consistently excellent. 
• Participate in on-field construction and commissioning activities by serving as the point of contact for technical questions and real-time issue resolution. 
• Multi-discipline collaboration on the development of equipment general arrangements, P&IDs, isometrics, tie-in lists and material takeoffs. 
• Travel to project site and meetings as needed. 

Desired Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent discipline. 
• Licensed Professional Engineer with NCEES record with ability to apply for NV and SC 
• 7+ years of work experience in HVAC and Plumbing/FP design. 
• Expert familiarity with ICC including International Energy Conservation, Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire Protection Codes, NFPA standards, SMACNA duct construction standards, ACGIH Ventilation Practices and ASHRAE 
• Working knowledge of designing the following equipment types: condenser fluid heat rejection systems, chillers, boilers, air handling units, air and water source heat pumps, dust collectors, humidifiers, dehumidifiers, fans, and pumps. 
• Working knowledge or experience with the following is preferred: Abatement systems (thermal oxidizers, dry and wet scrubbers), Heat Exchangers (shell/tube, plate/frame, brazed fin), Control Valves and Instrumentation, and Heat Recovery Systems. 
• Working knowledge of writing sequences of operation for HVAC and chilled water systems. 
• Ability to specify ductwork material and size for various ducted exhaust systems and pressure classes. 
• Ability to specify pipe material and size for various thermal hydronic systems. 
• Ability to create or edit construction specifications covering mechanical, process piping and plumbing systems. 
• Proficient in the use of Revit and AutoCAD. Experience sourcing and specifying mechanical equipment and executing RFP process. 
• Strong experience with engineering software packages: Pipe-Flo (or other hydraulic modeling application), Caesar II, AspenTech applications and/or Applied Flow Technology applications, Carrier HAP, Trane Trace, Navisworks, Bluebeam.

Manager, Accounts Payable

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the full cycle of the accounts payable function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of all vendor invoices, employee expense reports, and payment disbursements. This role leads and develops the AP team, establishes and enforces internal controls, and partners cross-functionally with procurement, treasury, and the broader finance organization to support business operations and financial reporting. 

Responsibilities will include:

Team Leadership & Management 

• Manage, mentor, and develop a team of AP specialists, setting clear performance goals and conducting regular reviews. 
• Oversee day-to-day AP operations including workload distribution, queue management, and escalation resolution. 
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accuracy, and accountability within the team. 

Invoice Processing & Payment Operations 

• Oversee the end-to-end processing of vendor invoices, including 2-way and 3-way PO matching, coding, approval routing, and posting. 
• Ensure all payments — ACH, wire, checks— are executed accurately and on schedule. 
• Manage payment run cycles and prioritize urgent or time-sensitive disbursements. 
• Review and approve high-value or exception invoices prior to payment release. 

Vendor Relations & Supplier Management 

• Serve as the primary point of escalation for vendor payment disputes, reconciliation issues, and statement discrepancies. 
• Maintain accurate vendor master data including banking details, tax information (W-9 / W-8), and payment terms. 
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers and internal procurement teams. 

Internal Controls & Compliance 

• Design, implement, and monitor AP internal controls to prevent fraud, duplicate payments, and unauthorized disbursements. 
• Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable tax regulations including 1099 / 1042-S reporting. 
• Support internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation and reconciliations. 
• Maintain SOX compliance as applicable and ensure proper segregation of duties within the AP function. 

Reporting & Month-End Close 

• Own the AP sub-ledger and ensure timely and accurate close of AP at month-end, including accruals for not invoiced receipts. 
• Prepare and present AP metrics and KPIs including DPO, aging analysis, on-time payment rate, and invoice cycle time. 
• Reconcile AP balances to the general ledger and resolve discrepancies on a timely basis. 
• Assist the Treasury Manager with cash flow forecasting by providing accurate short-term AP payment projections. 

Process Improvement & Systems 

• Identify and drive process automation and efficiency opportunities within the AP function. 
• Lead or support ERP implementations, upgrades, or AP automation tool deployments (e.g. OCR, e-invoicing, workflow tools). 
• Document and maintain AP policies, procedures, and desktop guides. 

Desired Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
• 5+ years of accounts payable experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. 
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics). 
• Advanced Excel skills; comfortable with large data sets, pivot tables, and reconciliations. 
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

Preferred Qualifications

• SOX compliance experience in a public company environment. 
• Experience supporting cross-border or multi-currency payment operations.
