Red Ventures is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our Accounting team. This person will be responsible for a wide-range of accounting functions supporting the Lonely Planet business.

What You’ll Do:

• Work closely with leadership to actively engage in the technical and professional development of staff, including detailed review of work products for identification of improvement opportunities and coaching of all staff levels
• Oversee and manage the timely completion of all work performed by staff, including strategic planning of responsibilities and workload
• Review and perform account analysis and reconciliation, including review of complex general ledger accounts
• Oversee the accounting for inventory valuation and related accounts including obsolescence, receipts not billed
• Responsible for leading the annual international external audit processes
• Analyze and review journal entries for all staff levels, requisitions, invoices
• Responsible for the preparation of month-end financial statements and supplemental reports for multiple business units and varying business types
• Provide technical accounting support and oversight for significant and complex transactions such as acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and others as well as new accounting standards
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and accounting standards such as ASC 606 and Inventory accounting standards
• Utilize existing accounting systems to automate processes and reporting where appropriate

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance, CPA is a plus
• 6+ years of professional experience in accounting, financial reporting, or public accounting roles with previous direct management experience
• Inventory accounting experience is a must
• Proficiency utilizing financial systems and reporting packages as well as Microsoft Office products
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
• Effective leadership, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Strong team player who fosters collaboration and actively contributes to a positive, inclusive workplace culture
• Experience with Workday and Netsuite is a plus
• IFRS experience or experience with international accounts is a plus
  
  

Compensation: 

This range reflects total cash compensation, which may include base salary only or base salary plus target bonus, depending on the role. Where eligible, equity may also be offered separately and not included below. Actual compensation varies based on location, experience, and qualifications.

• Total Cash Compensation Range: $120,000 - $140,000 per year

Red Ventures is currently seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. This person will be responsible for the financial accounting and analysis for Lonely Planet, one of Red Ventures’ high growth business units within the travel industry. Ideal candidates will possess a fun, positive, energetic attitude and thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. This position will have an immediate impact on Lonely Planet through collaborative work with multiple cross-functional teams to complete recurring month-end close activities, problem solve, and make process improvements. This position will report to our Fort Mill, SC campus three days per week.

What You’ll Do:

• Perform revenue close procedures on-time and in accordance with US GAAP, including revenue and deferred revenue journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses
• Prepare a wide variety of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Participation of recurring month-end close activities
• Supplier Invoice and requisitions reviews and approvals for business operations
• Monthly Capex/CIP reconciliations
• Annual audit support
• Assist with monthly reconciliation of AR subledgers to the General Ledger
• Assist with accounting process redesign, documentation and automation including implementation of key systems
• Preparing monthly financial statements
• Provide financial support to business leaders in monthly forecasting and annual operating plan
• Prepare ad hoc business case analysis, including financial models and analysis of business trends
• Reviewing and analyzing data from external sites 
• Ensuring adequate financial and internal controls
• Preparing presentations for management reviews and quarterly board meetings
• Performing financial analyses and special projects as requested
• Providing financial data to shareholders as requested
  
  

What We’re Looking For:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance
• 3+ years of relevant experience and demonstrable success as indicated by progressively more responsible roles
• Experience with inventory accounting (including raw materials, WIP and Finished Goods) is strongly preferred
• Proficiency utilizing financial systems and reporting packages
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
• Knowledge of public company accounting and reporting
• Experience with Workday, NetSuite and MySQL, a plus
• Experience with mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, a plus
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving abilities
• Good organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Must be a team player
