About the Role: 

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Observability team and help build the platform that gives Redpanda’s engineering organization deep visibility into the health, performance, and behavior of our systems. You will own and evolve our Grafana-based observability stack—spanning metrics, logs, and traces—and ensure that every team at Redpanda has the tooling and insights they need to ship reliable, high-performance software.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of infrastructure and developer experience. You will work closely with platform and product engineering teams to design scalable observability solutions, drive adoption of best practices, and reduce mean time to detection and resolution across our cloud and on-premise deployments.

You Will:  

• Design, build, and maintain Redpanda’s observability platform using the Grafana stack (Grafana, Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Alloy/Agent)
• Develop and optimize dashboards, alerts, and SLO/SLI frameworks that give engineering teams actionable insights into system health
• Build and operate scalable metrics, logging, and distributed tracing pipelines that handle high-cardinality data across cloud and on-premise environments
• Instrument services and infrastructure with OpenTelemetry to ensure comprehensive, standards-based telemetry collection
• Partner with platform teams to improve incident detection, root-cause analysis, and mean time to resolution (MTTR)
• Evaluate and integrate new observability tools and techniques, driving continuous improvement of our monitoring capabilities
• Contribute to internal tooling and automation that streamlines observability onboarding for engineering teams
• Participate in on-call rotation to keep observability infrastructure running and incident free

You Have: 

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on observability, monitoring, or infrastructure
• Deep hands-on experience with the Grafana stack (Grafana, Mimir/Prometheus, Loki, Tempo) in production environments
• Strong understanding of metrics, logging, and distributed tracing paradigms and their trade-offs at scale
• Experience with OpenTelemetry (OTel) for instrumentation and telemetry collection
• Proficiency in at least one systems-level language (Go strongly preferred) and scripting languages (Python, Bash)
• Experience running and operating infrastructure on Kubernetes in public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Comfortable working with a 100% distributed engineering team, collaborating on GitHub, etc.
• Experience with AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) and able to independently validate, refine, and productionize generated outputs
• Solid understanding of time-series databases, log aggregation systems, and query languages (PromQL, LogQL)

Nice to Have: 

• Strong understanding of Go
• Experience operating a SaaS platform with production observability at scale
• Familiarity with eBPF-based observability or continuous profiling tools (e.g., Pyroscope, Parca)
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Pulumi) and GitOps workflows
• Operated and used streaming platforms (e.g., Kafka, Redpanda) either as a user or provider
• Experience building or managing multi-tenant observability platforms
• Contributions to open-source observability projects (Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, etc.)

About the Role:

We're looking for a Principal Software Engineer to help architect and build Redpanda's Agentic Data Plane (ADP), the control and execution layer that powers how AI agents safely interact with real-world data across the technological sprawl of the modern enterprise. Redpanda’s Agentic Data Plane enables intelligent agents to autonomously access, reason over, and act on enterprise data in real time, while providing their human counterparts with the visibility and control to ensure and validate that they do so securely. It combines Redpanda’s industry-leading low-latency streaming layer, a distributed query engine for real-time context, 300+ connectors for seamless data integration, and a global policy and observability framework that enforces access, records intent, and enables replayable audits.

You'll work on identifying and integrating the next generation of ADP capabilities as the agentic AI landscape evolves, translating emerging research and industry shifts into concrete engineering proposals and product bets. You'll partner closely across Engineering, with our Product and GTM teams, as well as directly with strategic customers to shape the product’s architecture and direction.

This is a hybrid role based in our San Francisco office.

You Will:  

• Track emerging research, frameworks, and industry developments in the agentic AI space, and translate the most relevant signals into concrete engineering proposals and product bets
• Identify, prototype, and deliver high-leverage emerging capabilities for ADP, in partnership with the broader team 
• Define architectural patterns for new ADP capabilities, ensuring they integrate cleanly with the existing runtime, policy, and observability layers
• Engage directly with strategic customers and the field to stress-test new capabilities against real enterprise deployment scenarios
• Serve as a technical ambassador for ADP externally, publishing research, writing engineering blog posts, and speaking at conferences to establish Redpanda's credibility at the frontier of agentic infrastructure
• Participate in on-call and help drive down operational toil, improving system observability and self-healing capabilities over time

You Have: 

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with a demonstrated track record of leading the design and delivery of complex, large-scale distributed systems
• Experience building or contributing to emerging areas of agentic AI infrastructure, e.g. eval frameworks, orchestration layers, context management, AI gateways, or similar
• Fluency with AI-assisted development at the level of agentic orchestration, i.e. composing multi-agent coding workflows with subagents to dramatically accelerate research and prototyping
• Deep expertise in at least one systems language (Go preferred) and comfort working across the stack
• Understanding of streaming data systems, messaging infrastructure, or data plane/control plane architectures, experience with Apache Kafka or Redpanda is a plus
• Experience designing and operating systems that enforce access control, policy, and auditability at scale 
• Self-directed, strong written communicator, comfortable collaborating asynchronously in GitHub, Slack, and Google Docs
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Able to lead without authority across engineering teams and engage credibly with technical customers and external audiences

Nice to Have:

• Familiarity with AI safety, alignment, or responsible AI research as it applies to autonomous systems in enterprise environments
• Experience with protocol buffers, protoreflect and codegen
• Background in security, identity, or data governance systems relevant to enterprise environments
• Experience running Kafka/Redpanda and/or Postgres at scale
• Experience with Kubernetes and cloud-native infrastructure across AWS, GCP, or Azure
• Prior experience in an early-stage or growth-stage startup, especially in a category-defining product area

U.S. base salary range for this role is $245,000 - $290,000. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. About the Role: 

Come and join our rapidly growing Solutions Engineer team! As a Solutions Engineer, you will help qualify and close opportunities with customers and partners and provide technical expertise through sales presentations, product demonstrations, and supporting technical evaluations

You Will:  

• Work alongside the sales team to introduce Redpanda to our potential customers
• Lead product and solution briefings, build proof-of-concepts (POC), run live product demos, and prototype Redpanda integrations
• Partner with Redpanda product management, engineering and support teams to solve customer challenges and improve customer experience
• Identify and address customers' key technical objections and develop the strategies to address those blockers to adoption

You Have: 

• 3-8+ years of prior experience leading presentations, collecting requirements, developing solution architectures, and teaching prospective users or project teams how to use software similar to Redpanda
• Comfortable developing/prototyping solutions in many different languages (e.g., Java, Python, Go, and Javascript)
• Passion for working on complex technical problems and have a strong understanding of modern infrastructure and streaming technologies (Kafka ecosystem preferred)  
• Strong ability to build relationships with our partners, customers, and open-source users
• Experience demonstrating technical concepts, including presenting and whiteboarding
• Collaborative spirit and enjoy making sure each team gets customer feedback to provide great customer experience
• Flexibility to travel to meet customers, attend events or conferences or wherever the work takes you 
• Comfortable with Linux and Kubernetes
