Job Summary

As a Production Manager you will lead the hourly foundry operators responsible for the full investment casting process from pattern production, to pouring, to post-processing. This isn't a desk-based management role; we are looking for a leader with a high degree of tenacity for hands-on, gritty operational work who can navigate a technical manufacturing landscape and has lived on the factory floor taking personal accountability for safety, quality, delivery, and yield. You will set the operating cadence of the foundry while building the team, processes, and discipline required to scale.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the individual accountable for foundry operations across multiple shifts
• Establish the organizational structure and recruit requisite personnel to build a world-class team of Operations Technicians
• Establish the shift cadence, ensuring the team meets safety, quality, delivery, and cost metrics
• Own onboarding and training programs for the hourly foundry operators, establishing a culture operational excellence via effective development and application of each individual’s skills
• Manage operational improvement initiatives to eliminate hazards, prevent non-conformances, reduce lead time, and drive down cost by challenging requirements and applying creative thinking
• Set and champion organizational policy and standards that enable production autonomy, foster an environment of continuous improvement, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
• Advocate for the operators and ensure their perspective and feedback is represented across all aspects of the business, from day to day tasks to executive strategy and planning
• Facilitate cross-functional relationships to inform/execute improvement opportunities, ensure alignment of priorities between organizations, and focus efforts to relentlessly drive down lead time and labor hours

Minimum Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or test engineering in aerospace, automotive, or commercial industries
• 2+ years of experience directly managing non-exempt manufacturing personnel in aerospace, automotive, or commercial industries
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven track record of inspiring operators, building consensus across cross-functional teams to overcome operational blockers, and driving complex initiatives to completion on budget and schedule
• Functional understanding of production tracking, scheduling, and manufacturing systems

Preferred Skills/Experience

• Demonstrated ability to scale production throughput in a high volume manufacturing setting
• Familiarity with aerospace or defense manufacturing quality systems
• 4+ years of experience directly managing non-exempt manufacturing personnel in aerospace, automotive, or commercial industries
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
• Direct experience with investment casting processes including shell building, burnout, pouring, and finishing

Job Responsibilities

• Design and develop manufacturing equipment from concept to production,
• Evaluate, qualify, and engage with vendors for components, subsystems, and entire pieces of manufacturing equipment. 
• Perform failure mode analysis to ensure equipment is safe, reliable, and performant
• Collaborate with Production, M&P, and other peer teams to ensure alignment of projects to business goals
• Resolve issues encountered in production. Develop and test engineering changes as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering experience in aerospace, automation, and/or manufacturing
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or similar Engineering discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Familiarity with other mechanical design tools (CAD, FEA, PLM, etc.)
• Hands on experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong Mechanical Design Skills (materials selection, statics/dynamics, tolerancing, component selection, etc.)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with investment casting, vacuum melting & casting, heat treatment, ceramics manufacturing, or similar
• Familiarity with SLA printers, furnaces or high-vacuum systems.
• Familiarity with highly regulated production environments and safety-critical equipment
• Familiarity with industrial controls (PLC, HMI, common controls components)
• Has had ownership over automated equipment builds.
• Worked for a high-growth tech company / start-up

Responsibilities

• Manage the technical execution of new foundry stand-ups by defining comprehensive facility requirements (i.e. square footage, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems) while overseeing the sourcing of critical assets and managing on-site equipment commissioning and qualification
• Leverage first principles to execute rigorous DoEs that establish technical requirements and inform opportunities to improve reliability, lead time, and cost in a high volume production environment
• Drive process innovation by identifying and implementing creative technical solutions for novel manufacturing challenges, focusing on creative, low-cost approaches to high-volume, high-reliability production
• Build consensus across verticals to drive initiatives to completion on budget and on schedule

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline (ABET accreditation required)
• 7+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or test engineering in aerospace, automotive, or commercial industries
• Demonstrated ability to scale production throughput
• Strong written and verbal communication skills from the operator level to the executive level
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with all levels of an organization
• Experience aggregating and analyzing technical data to justify and execute large scale projects
• Proven track record of navigating an expansive technical and operational scope, specifically moving projects from design to physical implementation

• 9+ years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, or test engineering in aerospace, automotive, or commercial industries
• Experience managing multi-million dollar capital expenditure projects, including facility expansions and the integration of new manufacturing technologies

• Review designs for producibility, leading and executing tasks to transition hardware from low-rate initial production to volume production
• Research, design, modify, and test production methods and equipment based on a deep understanding of hardware and software requirements
• Improve production efficiency and effectiveness by analyzing and planning workflows, optimizing space utilization, and maximizing equipment throughput without compromising quality
• Ensure hardware and process quality by establishing standards, designing testing methods, and implementing rate production validation processes

Responsibilities

• Working with the equipment and production team to stand up new casting equipment, with a view to excellent casting quality
• Casting setup and design - feeding system design, simulation, and iteration
• Diagnosing of production issues. Development, implementation, and testing of corrective actions
• Helping to set technical direction of Rangeview's casting process

Minimum Qualifications

• 5 years minimum of professional experience as a product or process engineer in advanced casting processes
• Degree in mechanical engineering, materials engineering, or similar, or evidence of exceptional ability
• Familiarity with the investment casting process, best practices, tools, common issues
• Familiarity with vacuum casting processes for reactive alloys
• High ownership and ability to work independently on difficult problems
• US Person - due to ITAR requirements

Preferred Skills/Experience

• Experience in single crystal or DS investment casting
• Experience with cored turbine blade production
• Experience in AS9100 Aerospace manufacturing
• Experience with SLA printing
• Worked for a high-growth tech company / start-up

Additional Requirements

• Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed
• Must be able to establish procedures for providing 24/7 on-call support for critical business activities and emergency situations

Summary Pay Range

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline. Salaries are based on demonstrated candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

• Level 3IC: $126,000-$154,000
