📣A bit about the role
Reporting into the People Manager at Sam’s Kitchen, you will be an integral part of the Butternut squad. You’ll partner with the teams on site to ensure our squad members feel valued, listened to and part of our journey. You’ll also bring a sprinkling of fun along the way through surprise and delight, and engagement activities. The team is responsible for driving a high-performing culture as well as ensuring excitement through celebrations and events. There will be a big focus on process efficiency and improvement, legislative and compliance awareness and creating an environment where people trust we act and deal with everything in a fair and consistent manner. This role will work closely with our Talent Acquisition and L&D teams to hire talent bar raisers and ensure robust development for our squad; overall creating a great place to work.

Some of the people initiatives you will be responsible for include:
Employee Advocate & Communication
- Partner with people leaders and squad members to ensure a great employee experience
- Provide the expertise to the squad in fields of labour law, working time, performance management
- Drive key engagement messages through our people leaders and pulse check engagement levels of our squad members through engagement surveys, regular presence in our Kitchen, Coffee & Connect forums, and informal conversations with the team
- Conduct, prepare and analyse information to tailor our People Team service to the needs of our squad and to implement our People strategy
Team Development
- Champion our diversity and inclusion plans in partnership with our L&D Specialist and Talent Acquisition Partner on site
- Drive Talent Reviews and subsequent actions to develop a high performing culture by supporting the Feedback Cycle, development plans, talent mapping and coaching people leaders through challenging conversations
- Partner with the People Team on executing localised wellbeing and engagement plans for our Kitchen
People Team Focus
- Working with the people team to deploy a 12 month strategy focused on:
- Increasing our competence in data and process compliance designing key metrics that helps us measure impact
- Keeping squad member engagement at the forefront of everything we do
- Partner with the Talent Acquisition Partner on a first class candidate to employee experience
- Working closely alongside the wider people team to provide a seamless service to our key stakeholders
Recruitment
- Conduct on site interviews (both internal and external) for various positions
- Ensure onboarding plans are in place for key roles and work closely with L&D Specialist to ensure a smooth induction process

🐶 PsiBufet & Butternut Box
Butternut Box was founded in 2016 and has seen outstanding growth and significant investment during its rapid evolution. A certified B-Corp, Butternut Box is committed to doing better for the planet, people and dogs. In 2023, the business secured £280m of investment from General Atlantic and L Catterton. This significant investment has allowed the business to rapidly develop its international expansion plans.
Butternut Box fully acquired PsiBufet, a Polish Direct to Consumer dog food brand in 2023. This business provides a foothold from which to establish a new manufacturing plant to serve these markets.
The new site is in Zabrze and has 400,000 sqft (compared to the original UK site at 150,000 sqft) and will have 8 lines with the capacity to produce 1,200T per week.
