As a Sr. Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) in PitchBook’s engineering division, you will be creating and evolving systems to automatically run our suite of products and services reliably and consistently. As part of a team of site reliability engineers and platform engineers and in conjunction with group leadership, you will help define service level objectives (SLOs) that determine success and build systems to achieve those objectives.

You will utilize your strong background in deploying, managing, and maintaining production systems, working with developers to operate and monitor large-scale services with complex distributed systems and data integrations. You will incorporate observability tools (monitoring, telemetry, tracing, alerting), perform incident management, conduct root cause analyses, eliminate single points of failure, build reliability and redundancy into our infrastructure, establish and test our recoverability, mitigate failures, and do all of these things through automation and tools.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain internal platform services, Kubernetes operators, and observability tooling that support enterprise reliability at scale
• Design and deliver developer experience tooling and AI-leveraged workflows through Claude Code plugins and MCP servers
• Requires strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Java (Spring Boot), observability, event-driven architecture, and Python; experience with Clean Architecture, cloud-native deployment patterns, and building internal tools that improve developer productivity across engineering organizations.

As a Staff Software Development Engineer, AI Enablement, you will operate as a technical leader and force multiplier across Product, Engineering, Research, and Business teams. Your role is to define, build, and scale AI-powered productivity capabilities that fundamentally change how PitchBook teams work, ship, and innovate. 

This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role focused on software systems, internal platforms, and developer productivity tools, rather than core infrastructure ownership. You will identify the highest-leverage opportunities for AI enablement, set technical direction, and deliver reusable solutions that accelerate delivery, improve quality, and reduce friction across the organization. 

You will partner closely with engineering leaders, product leaders, and executive stakeholders to ensure AI is embedded into workflows in a safe, scalable, and repeatable way. Your work will directly influence PitchBook’s ability to move faster than competitors, fully realize the value of AI investments, and attract and retain top technical talent. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Act as a technical force multiplier at the organizational level, designing AI-powered tools and workflows that unlock step-change productivity gains 
• Define and own the technical vision and roadmap for internal AI enablement and developer productivity capabilities 
• Architect and build scalable internal platforms, libraries, and “golden paths” that make AI easy, safe, and effective to adopt 
• Identify systemic bottlenecks in development, research, and knowledge workflows and translate them into high-impact AI solutions 
• Lead complex, ambiguous initiatives end-to-end, from problem framing and experimentation through production adoption 
• Partner with senior engineers, managers, product leaders, and non-technical stakeholders to align solutions with business priorities 
• Establish best practices, patterns, and standards for AI usage across teams, including quality, safety, and evaluation 
• Provide technical leadership through design reviews, mentorship, and hands-on collaboration across multiple teams 
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies and translate them into practical, production-ready capabilities 
• Champion responsible AI usage, scalability, and long-term maintainability 
• Model PitchBook’s values by fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Skills and Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience) 
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with demonstrated impact at scale 
• Proven experience leading cross-team technical initiatives or internal platforms 
• Deep proficiency in Python; experience with additional languages (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Java) is a plus 
• Strong hands-on experience building AI-enabled products or productivity tools using LLMs and GenAI frameworks 
• Experience designing APIs, shared services, or developer platforms used by multiple teams 
• Strong understanding of prompt engineering, evaluation strategies, and responsible AI patterns 
• Experience translating ambiguous business problems into scalable technical solutions 
• Solid grounding in modern development practices (Git, CI/CD, testing, observability) 
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence without authority 
• Track record of mentoring senior engineers and raising the technical bar across teams

This role owns the foundational layers that make AI usable, safe, and scalable for product teams, data scientists, and the broader workforce — including managed tool access (MMCP), shared context layers, agent creation and governance, and enterprise AI workflows. Your team acts as a force multiplier, empowering experimentation, capturing high-value wins, and operationalizing them into reusable, production-grade capabilities. This role is critical to PitchBook’s transition into a genuinely AI-enabled organization. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Own and lead the AI Enablement roadmap, including managed tool access, context management, agent creation and governance, and workflow orchestration

• Strong experience enabling AI/ML systems in production, including GenAI and LLM-based systems 
• Experience with AI tooling, orchestration, or agent frameworks (e.g., LangChain, custom agent systems, workflow engines) 
• Deep understanding of cloud-native architectures (AWS and/or GCP), including Kubernetes and Docker 
• Experience designing secure, governed access to data, tools, and services 
• Experience with Python (Java a plus) and building APIs or platform services 
• Strong systems-thinking skills: ability to design platforms that scale across teams and use cases 
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both deeply technical and non-technical audiences
