Purpose of the role:
Pico is looking for a hands-on technical leader to run our Level 1 Operations team supporting Pico’s global low-latency trading network and flagship products and services. You’ll lead a team of sharp Level 1 technical support professionals who handle high-stakes, complex calls for Tier 1 banks, hedge funds, asset managers, and broker-dealers. This is not a typical support role — these are mission-critical environments where seconds matter. You’ll bring real autonomy, urgency, and technical depth to every situation while staying calm under pressure and communicating confidently with senior stakeholders on both the client and internal side.
If you’ve led technical support teams in fintech or come from a telecom/carrier background, have an understanding or networks, with script in Python exposure, and know your way around servers, this is the leadership opportunity you’ve been waiting for.
What You’ll Do
- Lead & Develop the Team - Directly manage, mentor, and grow a team of Level 1 engineers. Set performance standards, run 1:1s, deliver training, and build a high-performing group that delivers exceptional technical support every day.
- Own High-Pressure Incident Escalation - Act as the primary escalation point for all AMRS incidents. Lead client and internal calls, drive rapid resolution, clear communication, and seamless handoffs across APAC, EMEA, and AMRS in our global follow-the-sun model.
- Drive Circuit & Carrier Management - Oversee circuit lifecycle, vendor/carrier escalations, and outage resolution. Your telecom or carrier experience will be a huge advantage when negotiating with providers under pressure.
- Champion Automation & Operational Excellence Continuously - improve monitoring, alerting, and tooling. Collaborate on automation initiatives (Python, APIs, etc.) to eliminate repetitive work, reduce MTTR, cut alert noise, and scale the operation.
- Deliver World-Class Client Communication - Maintain flawless client relationships through clear, professional, updates and presentations. Own CRM accuracy, standardize incident notification frameworks, and ensure every stakeholder feels heard and informed.
- You’ll also contribute to runbooks, process improvements, SLA governance, and audit/compliance deliverables while shaping how we support our most demanding clients.
What You Bring
- Proven leadership experience managing or mentoring Level 1 technical support teams in 24/7 environments
- Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, switching, BGP) — telecom/carrier background is highly valued
- Track record of running high-pressure incident bridges with senior client and internal stakeholders
- Excellent verbal and written communication + presentation skills — you don’t shy away from hard conversations
- Experience (or strong interest) in fintech/low-latency trading environments supporting Tier 1 banks, hedge funds, or broker-dealers
- Ability to thrive with autonomy while operating with urgency and ownership
- ITIL, CCNA/CCNP, or Linux certifications
- Hands-on experience with Salesforce, Orion, Device42, or NetBox
Preferred or Desirable
- Solid understanding of servers, operating systems (Linux preferred), and basic scripting/automation (Python or similar)
- Background in financial services or low-latency trading infrastructure

Working Arrangements
This is a hybrid position with weekly time in the office with the flexibility of working from home. There will be a requirement to work weekends on a rotational basis. Though travel may be required from time to time, it is not expected to be regular or frequent. Purpose of the role:
Working within Pico’s and Pico’s clients’ various Data Centers in Chicago with some NY, Mexico and Canada, the role holder will be responsible for the physical build and maintenance of our environment. Working closely with our Network and Systems engineering teams and our Project Management and client Service Delivery functions to ensure prompt delivery of all projects. With a structured approach, strong team ethos and the flexibility and commitment to solve problems and get things done, the role holder will be a key member of this small but highly skilled and integral team. A key requirement of this job is flexibility as the role holder will be expected to work in short change windows, late at night and out of hours.
Responsibilities and duties (include but not limited to)
This includes, but is not limited to the following services:
- Equipment Rack and Stack
- Cable, Label & terminate fiber or copper network cabling
- Assist with the diagnosis of hardware and software - troubleshooting
- Perform cabinet/cage audits
- Blade/Card, Memory, Hard Drive, and Transceiver installations or removal
- Testing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber optic circuits
- Perform migrations of equipment, power, or networking devices
- Shipping and receiving packages in Office and co-locations
- Receive, log, and store internal packages
- Arrange access for internal and external customers
- Order, receive, install, and test cross connects (copper/fiber)
- Provide timely updates using a computer-based ticketing system
- Perform and document inventory verification/counts and rack elevation
- Monitor and report on power utilization in co-locations
- Maintain overall Data Centre cleanliness and appearance
- Work flexible shift schedules including rotational on-call coverage
- Report to the facility within a 1hour average for emergency outage assistance
- We operate many data centers across EMEA, the candidate will be required to travel throughout Europe, sometimes on very short notice, particularly in the short term.

Education, Skills and background (incl. Education and Experience Requirements)
- 3+ years of experience in Telecommunications or Data Centre related field
- In depth knowledge of Telecom structured cabling standards
- In depth knowledge of network device / server deployment
- In depth knowledge of DCO standards and operations
- 3+ years use of industry standard test equipment

Working Arrangements
The working days for this role are Tuesday to Saturday: Tuesday to Friday 4 PM to midnight and Sat 9 AM to 5 PM. Sunday availability on request. This is a non-office-based position. Travel between data centers in New Jersey (and occasionally beyond) will be required on an on-going basis. Home base is New Jersey, where we operate out of Equinix NY4, the travel is primarily within AMRS. The role holder will be expected to work whatever hours are necessary for the performance of this role (recognizing that it involves multiple jurisdictions / geographies including but not limited to EMEA, USA and APAC).
Other important information
Physical demands of the position include:
- Lift and handle up to 50 pounds
- Bend, stoop, and stretch as required for placement and retrieval of network devices, materials, or equipment
- Work under a raised data center floor
- Climb ladders (up to a16 feet) to reach plenum spaces

Purpose of the role:
The Network Operations team are responsible for maintaining the operational stability of all aspects of Pico’s proprietary electronic trading network, PicoNet, a cutting edge, multi-vendor, multi-technology network that spans over forty locations globally.
Network Operations provide critical front-line support across many of Pico’s infrastructure technology domains, including, but not limited to:
- Global and Regional WAN connectivity
- Metro Area Dark Fibre networks
- Ultra Low Latency Trading Fabric
- Edge connectivity to 200+ financial markets
- Data centre LAN networks in 40+ locations
- Market Data feeds
- Bespoke client trading environments
Network Operations are a global team consisting of regional teams located in London, New York, Singapore, and Tokyo. The team operates a follow-the-sun model that provides dedicated network support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This is a client facing role that demands a high standard of customer service and technical support be provided to both our internal and external clients. Alongside normal daily activities, the role provides the opportunity to participate in project-based initiatives and collaboration with other technology teams.
Responsibilities and duties (include but are not limited to):
- Diagnose the root cause of operational issues and provide suitable technical solutions for effective resolution.
- Perform triage, troubleshooting, and fault resolution as part of Pico’s Incident Management process.
- Monitor the operational health of the network infrastructure using event management systems and analysis tools.
- Prepare and implement network changes in accordance with Pico’s change management policy.
- Work directly with clients to assist with support queries in alignment with Service Level Agreements, SLAs.
- Identify opportunities within the environment to reduce inefficiencies, increase operational stability, and enhance security.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including: infrastructure diagrams, procedural runbooks, and knowledge base pages.
- Adopt the use of the Devops toolset to efficiently complete discovery and implementation tasks.
- Manage client and internal case queues for all incident and project-based work.
- Participate in global team collaboration efforts, including: shift handover, technical peer reviews, and knowledge transfers.
Education, Skills, and Background (including experience requirements):
- 10 years of experience working in a large enterprise or service provider environment.
- At a minimum hold a CCNP certification, ideally certified in CCIE, or equivalent level of knowledge and experience.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage own workload.
- Experience working within the Financial Industry preferred.
Required Skills
- Solid understanding of IPv4 addressing with the ability to subnet using VLSM.
- Demonstrable understanding and experience supporting the following:
- 1q VLANs and Trunks
- Multiple Spanning Tree protocol
- Etherchannel
- Static routing

- Routing protocol redistribution
- Network traffic engineering using routing policies

- Good understanding of the TCP/IP stack and TCP/UDP operation.
- Ability to diagnose the root cause of networking issues within complex network environments.
- Ability to create and analyse packet captures to identify network and application issues.
- Experience supporting enterprise firewall platforms.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting IPSec VPNs.
- Experience working with Network Management Systems utilising SNMP and Syslog.
Preferred Skills
- Demonstrable understanding and experience supporting PIM Sparse Mode Multicast, Source Specific Multicast, and IGMPv2/v3.
- Demonstrable understanding and experience supporting Network Time protocols – PTP, NTP, PPS.
- Experience supporting the following platforms: Arista, Cisco Nexus, Cisco ASA, Fortigate, Palo Alto, Corvil.
- Experience using automation technologies: Python, Ansible, Git.
