Summary of Role 

The Vice President, Product Commercialization is a senior builder and commercial leader responsible for creating and scaling new software and data platform product lines within Palmetto’s Software & Data Group. This role owns the journey from 0→1 through early scale—defining commercial strategy, shaping product-market fit, and ensuring each product is designed to reach $100M+ in external revenue over time. While deeply hands-on in the earliest stages, this role also sets the conditions for scale through pricing, packaging, contracts, go-to-market motion, and early team structure. Reporting to the CTO, this role works in close partnership with product, engineering, data, and design leaders, and collaborates directly with the CEO on select enterprise deals and strategic partnerships.

Strategic & Tactical

Build and Launch New Platform Product Lines

• Identify and shape new software and data platform opportunities from ground zero
• Translate customer problems into compelling value propositions, pricing, and commercial strategy
• Partner deeply with product and engineering leaders to ensure what’s built can win commercially and scale sustainably

Drive Early Commercial Traction

• Personally lead early go-to-market efforts, including enterprise sales, pilots, partnerships, and lighthouse accounts

Design for Scale

This is a technical data PM role on the Platform Product team. This is a great opportunity to build a new product line while getting industry expertise from the core business. You’ll lead a team delivering new data products and an AI-first platform. This is a hands-on role that requires fluency with data, experience building enterprise-grade APIs, and strategic ownership of how the product grows to unlock new customers and use cases. We’re looking for a PM that has the technical depth and vision to scale an AI-first platform, defining and implementing evaluations, and building effective HITL processes. • Develop deep fluency in push vs. pull integration patterns and define when each is appropriate — whether that means polling a manufacturer API on a schedule, receiving real-time webhooks, or negotiating direct data feed agreements that give Palmetto better signal fidelity.
• Lead integration negotiations alongside legal and business stakeholders, shaping data access terms, rate limits, signal coverage, and SLA commitments that maximize what the platform can do downstream.
• Build a scalable integration framework that makes onboarding new OEMs repeatable and efficient — reducing the one-off engineering effort that comes with each new hardware partnership.

Data Transformation & Platform Schema

• Own the data transformation layer — defining how raw, heterogeneous device signals get normalized into a clean, consistent schema that every internal team can rely on without needing to understand the quirks of each OEM's data format.
• Design and maintain standardized data models and API response contracts that make the platform easy to consume — clear field definitions, predictable structures, and versioning practices that protect downstream teams when things change.
• Partner with engineering to optimize pipeline reliability, ingestion latency, and data quality — ensuring that the data foundation is trustworthy enough for other teams to build business logic on top of with confidence.
• Define and enforce data quality standards, SLAs, and alerting thresholds that surface problems before they cascade into downstream errors for operations, finance, or consumers.

Platform Empowerment & Self-Service

• Design the platform not just as a product you own, but as an infrastructure other teams can actively use and extend — establishing contribution patterns, documentation standards, and guardrails that let teams like Asset Management and Consumer add to the platform without creating technical debt.
• Build self-service capabilities that reduce dependency on your engineering team for routine data access — enabling other product and ops teams to query, filter, and act on device data through well-designed interfaces and APIs.
• Champion a clear culture: standardized responses, clear contracts between services, and shared tooling that makes the platform feel like a foundation — not a black box.
• Act as the connective tissue across internal teams, earning influence without authority and driving adoption of platform standards across dotted-line stakeholders who depend on this data to do their jobs.

Performance Monitoring & Alerting

• Define what great looks like for solar and battery performance monitoring — translating raw device data into actionable insights that empower operations, field service, and customer support teams to identify issues and act quickly.
• Drive the evolution of alerting logic from OEM-triggered notifications toward production-based, outcome-driven alerting — reducing false positives, improving dispatch quality, and giving downstream teams the signal clarity they need to apply their own business rules.
• Ensure monitoring coverage expands thoughtfully as new asset types are added — from HVAC systems to future whole-home electrification products — with each new asset class integrated into the same clean schema and alerting framework.

Consumer-Facing Data & Energy Transparency

• Own how device data surfaces to homeowners — ensuring that what the platform captures translates into clear, meaningful experiences that help consumers understand their system's performance.
• Define how production data (e.g. solar energy generated) and consumption data (e.g. home energy usage) are presented together so homeowners can see the full picture of their energy profile — not just that their system is running, but how well it's working for them.
• Partner with the Consumer Experience and Customer Support teams to ensure that data quality, latency, and schema decisions made at the platform level directly support the trust and clarity homeowners need in their day-to-day interactions with Palmetto.

Roadmap, Planning & Execution

• Own the product strategy, OKRs, roadmap, and quarterly planning — making clear, well-reasoned prioritization decisions that balance foundational platform investments with the feature requests that come from every team who depends on this data.

• Experience working on monitoring, alerting, or operational intelligence products that feed downstream workflows.

Summary of Role 
The Senior Salesforce Product Manager role will drive the continued development of Palmetto's Salesforce platform in alignment with Palmetto’s business needs and objectives. The Salesforce Product Manager owns the product strategy, roadmap, and weekly sprint priorities for Palmetto’s Salesforce team by serving as the primary business liaison and subject matter expert on the platform’s ever-evolving features and capabilities. The Salesforce Product Manager will also consult with other Product teams regularly to align on cross-product priorities. 

Strategic & Tactical
Key Responsibilities of the Salesforce Product Manager:

• Understand Palmetto’s business processes and organizational priorities
• Proactively engage with stakeholders regularly to understand their evolving needs
• Manages technical SFDC lead and delivery team
• Proactively builds reporting to support business operations, as well as track sprint delivery and progress of the SFDC delivery team(s)
• Develop, maintain, and communicate the Salesforce product’s vision and roadmap
• Establish and track progress against evolving business initiatives for the Salesforce team
• Manage, prioritize, and refine User Stories for the Salesforce product backlog
• Work closely with peers in your department to ensure that your projects and initiatives align with the priorities of their related systems i.e. accounting and financial systems
• Lead Salesforce product roadmap and sprint planning meetings with the Salesforce development team
• Lead solutioning conversations and technologies for products that live within or touch the Salesforce system
• Facilitate daily standups with the Salesforce development team
• Engage with business stakeholders and end-users to resolve impediments to Product development as they arise
• Manage end-user testing, communications, release management, and roll-out plan for new Product feature releases
• Align with other Palmetto Product Owners when needed to maintain cross-product alignment
• Manage MANY priorities across the org and drive the strategic vision and implementation of Salesforce enhancements to support Palmetto’s growth and business needs
• Very strong technical foundational knowledge and understanding of the Salesforce platform and various clouds (Sales, Service, Field Service Lightning, etc.) 

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience at a technology company or consulting firm
• 5+ years of experience working in an Agile development environment and participating in Agile ceremonies
• Ability to manage many competing priorities and complex projects
• Salesforce certifications highly preferred (consultant, administrator, etc.)
• 3+ years of experience working with middleware for Salesforce (BOOMI, Tray.IO, or other) along with DevOps tools (Gearset or other)
• Experience translating business needs into strong user stories/requirements for new product features 
• Technical aptitude and expertise in the Salesforce platform as well as other applications commonly integrated with Salesforce
• Excellent organizational and project management skills; can manage priorities and dependencies across teams
• Excellent communication skills with experience translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Strong leadership skills rooted in high EQ, with an ability to rally cross-functional teams towards demanding goals
• Is regarded as a subject matter expert in Salesforce; can set up working agreements with other teams on how to use, engage and request updates to their service.
