Summary of Role 

Palmetto is seeking a motivated and curious student to join the Accounting team for a summer internship. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience supporting real business initiatives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

The intern will gain exposure to corporate accounting and financial reporting processes and contribute to meaningful work aligned with team priorities during a critical quarterly close period. This role is structured to provide practical development while delivering measurable business value through participation in month-end close support, balance sheet reconciliations, and reporting preparation.

Throughout the internship, the intern will support accounting workflows related to solar asset tranche activity, EPC payment structures, and accounts receivable reporting while gaining insight into financial operations within the renewable energy industry.

Core Responsibilities

The intern will support the Accounting team through project-based work and ongoing close activities. Responsibilities may include:

• Assisting with activities supporting the monthly close process, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation
• Assisting with preparation of balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts
• Supporting preparation of quarter-end financial reporting schedules and related documentation
• Contributing to reconciliation template improvements and documentation updates to strengthen internal controls
• Assisting with accounting workflows related to solar asset tranche activity and EPC payment structures
• Supporting data tracking, reporting preparation, and process improvement initiatives within the accounting team
• Completing a defined project focused on improving reconciliation templates, close support schedules, or accounting documentation

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
• Pursuing a degree in Accounting or a related field
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated analytical or problem-solving ability
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
• Prior internship, coursework, or project experience in accounting, finance, or financial reporting is preferred

Summary of Role 

Palmetto is seeking a Director, SEC Reporting & Technical Accounting to lead all external reporting and technical accounting functions. This is a highly visible and critical role responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of the Company’s SEC filings, technical accounting positions, and financial disclosures. The Director will serve as the Company’s primary subject matter expert on US GAAP technical accounting matters and will own all aspects of the SEC reporting process.

This is a newly created and critical position developed in response to the continued growth and complexity of our business. The role interfaces cross-functionally across the organization and requires the ability to operate with credibility at the executive level.

Strategic & Tactical

• SEC Reporting & External Disclosures
  • Lead the end-to-end preparation and review of all SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and other required filings, ensuring compliance with Regulation S-X and S-K disclosure requirements
  • Oversee the preparation of financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, earnings releases, and non-GAAP reconciliations
  • Manage the XBRL/iXBRL tagging process and ensure accurate, timely submission of filings via EDGAR
  • Coordinate the review of SEC filings with external auditors, outside legal counsel, investor relations, and executive management
  • Monitor FASB, SEC, PCAOB, and other regulatory bodies to identify and assess the impact of new accounting standards and regulatory developments on the Company’s reporting and disclosures
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors on all external reporting and technical accounting matters
  • Administer and optimize the Company’s SEC reporting software platform (e.g., Workiva)
• Technical Accounting
  • Serve as the Company’s primary subject matter expert on complex and non-routine accounting matters under US GAAP
  • Research, document, and communicate technical accounting positions on complex transactions, including equity arrangements, revenue recognition, lease accounting, business combinations, impairments, and other significant transactions
  • Author and maintain high-quality technical accounting memos that withstand auditor and regulatory scrutiny
  • Lead the assessment and implementation of new accounting standards across the organization, including developing accounting policies and updating the Company’s policy framework
  • Provide proactive technical accounting guidance to business partners on contemplated transactions and strategic initiatives to ensure accounting and operational considerations are addressed upfront
  • Collaborate with Legal, FP&A, Tax, and business teams on complex or judgment-intensive accounting matters
• SOX Compliance & Internal Controls
  • Own and maintain a strong internal control environment over financial reporting, including SOX 404 compliance
  • Design, document, and continuously improve controls over the external reporting and technical accounting processes
  • Partner with internal audit and external auditors on control testing, deficiency remediation, and readiness activities
• Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Hire, mentor, lead, train, and develop staff to support the Company’s external reporting and technical accounting needs
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Controllership team to support the consolidated close process
  • Develop and present management reports, accounting policy summaries, and technical updates to senior leadership and the Audit Committee
  • Manage relationships with cross-functional department heads across the organization, staying abreast of strategic activities that may drive changes to financial policies and reporting
  • Ad-hoc/special projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree a plus
• CPA required
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience; a combination of Big 4 public accounting and public company industry experience strongly preferred
• Deep expertise in US GAAP and SEC reporting rules and regulations, including Regulation S-X, Regulation S-K, and EDGAR filing requirements
• Demonstrated experience authoring technical accounting memos on complex topics including ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 350/360, ASC 805, ASC 718, and other areas
• Experience with SEC reporting software (Workiva preferred) and XBRL/iXBRL tagging
• Experience supporting capital markets or other significant company transactions is a strong plus
• SOX 404 experience, including design and documentation of internal controls over financial reporting
• Strong organizational skills with a focus on accuracy, detail orientation, and the ability to produce high-quality work in tight timelines
• Demonstrated ability to lead both initiatives and teams in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, and to communicate complex technical accounting requirements to both technical and non-technical audiences

Summary of Role 

Palmetto is seeking a SOX Compliance Director to own and lead the company's Sarbanes-Oxley program. This is a high-impact, highly visible role that sits at the intersection of operational accounting, controls assurance, and cross-functional collaboration. The Director will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a scalable SOX 404 compliance framework to ensure that Palmetto is well-positioned for PCAOB controls audit. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), a builder's mindset, and the ability to operate with credibility at the executive level.

Strategic & Tactical

• SOX Program Ownership
  • Own the end-to-end SOX 404 compliance program, including scoping, risk assessment, controls documentation, sample testing, and remediation
  • Lead the development and maintenance of process narratives, risk and control matrices (RCMs), and flowcharts across all in-scope financial processes
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive controls inventory, ensuring coverage of entity-level controls, IT general controls (ITGCs), and business process controls
  • Drive annual SOX scoping decisions in collaboration with internal audit, external auditors and senior leadership
• Testing & Assurance
  • Design and execute (or oversee) controls testing procedures in accordance with PCAOB standards
  • Manage walkthroughs and control testing timelines to align with audit cycles and financial close schedules
  • Identify control deficiencies, assess their severity, and work with process owners to drive timely and effective remediation
  • Coordinate reliance strategy with external auditors to optimize the internal/external audit relationship and reduce redundancy
• Cross-Functional Partnership
  • Serve as the primary SOX subject matter expert and advisor to process owners across Accounting, Finance, Tax, IT, Legal, and HR
  • Partner with IT and business systems teams to assess and strengthen ITGCs and application-level controls across key platforms (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, and other enterprise systems)
  • Collaborate with FP&A and the broader Accounting organization on the financial reporting control environment, including period-end close and financial statement preparation controls
• Governance & Reporting
  • Prepare SOX status reporting and key metrics for executive leadership and the Audit Committee
  • Develop and deliver controls training and awareness programs across the organization
  • Stay current on SEC, PCAOB, and COSO framework developments; assess and communicate implications to the program

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required
• 8+ years of progressive experience in SOX compliance, internal audit, or external audit, with at least 3 years in a SOX program leadership role
• Deep familiarity with PCAOB auditing standards, COSO 2013 framework, and SEC reporting requirements
• Experience building or significantly scaling a SOX program in a pre-IPO or newly public company strongly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to assess and document complex business processes and design effective controls
• Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet non-negotiable deadlines
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable presenting to senior leadership and external auditors

Reporting

Summary of Role 

This role will be critical to the success of our accounting function. The position will be responsible for revenue related processes and technical accounting, including assisting with the valuation of unconsolidated investees. The responsibilities will be focused on revenue recognition for all product lines at the company, including month end revenue reporting. The position will also assist with the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, as well as the preparation of the Company’s quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements. We are looking for someone with a strong accounting background, and a keen eye for detail, who is excited to make an impact, add value, and collaborate with a team in a fast-paced, ever-growing environment.

Strategic & Tactical

• Own end-to-end revenue accounting processes, including model validation, close, reporting, and audit support, serving as the primary point of contact for all revenue-related matters
• Ensure proper accounting for revenue arrangements, including detailed analysis of complex financial models. As part of this responsibility, the following are critical items that will need to be completed:
  • Review and documentation of key assumptions used in financial models
  • Preparation of process documentation of all revenue arrangements
  • Preparation of internal revenue models used for valuation
  • Cash reconciliation process
  • Customer risk review
• Perform detailed variance analysis on revenue, cash, and key drivers, and investigate discrepancies across models, sub-ledgers, and the general ledger
• Collaborate with various internal teams to develop and implement policies for recognizing revenue from renewable energy projects, adhering to ASC 606
• Drive month-end close processes for timely and accurate reporting, including:
  • Preparation of reconciliations and other close items as necessary
  • Preparation of revenue accruals and estimates
  • Preparation of fund accruals and estimates
• Own and enhance key controls over revenue recognition, ensuring audit readiness throughout the year and proactively addressing control gaps
• Document relevant technical accounting matters, including analysis of new business initiatives
• Identify opportunities to streamline and automate accounting processes, with a focus on leveraging industry-specific software and tools
• Design and implement scalable processes to support growth in transaction volume and complexity across revenue streams
• Partner on initiatives to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting, including the implementation of new accounting standards and systems
• Assist with the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and industry-specific standards
• Support in the preparation and support of external audits, including the documentation and testing of key controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or equivalent required
• 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, with exposure to financial modeling
