Role & Team
As a Data Engineering Manager, you will lead across several cross-functional teams, managing up to ~10 data engineers and GIS specialists. You will support teams working on data processing and pipelines to enable ML-powered product capabilities.
Our product teams are cross functional and will typically include product managers, designers, engineers and subject matter experts relating to the team’s domain.
You will be accountable for the technical direction and delivery outcomes of your area. You will challenge your teams to pursue ambitious goals while providing a high level of support — growing engineering talent and fostering a highly collaborative, team-based environment where people can do great work.
Your primary focus will be on building high-performing teams and driving results through others. You will not be expected to spend significant time doing hands-on coding; however, you will be expected to dive deep technically when required and leverage your experience to support strong technical decision-making.
Time zone requirement: Europe (GMT/WET, CET, EET) and Eastern North America (NST, AST, EST)
What You'll Do
- Enable our data engineers to become highly productive members of their cross-functional teams, empowering them to ship high-quality, reliable data platforms and pipelines on a daily basis.
- Grow the teams by attracting great talent from your network.

- Provide regular 1:1 coaching and feedback to tap into the potential of all your team members and help them thrive and reach their aspirations.
- Be a strategic partner to product managers, machine learning engineers, and other stakeholders within your domains and ensure that we are making the correct data architecture and platform decisions that balance short and long term goals.
- Ensure suitability of the data architecture, pipelines, and data models within your domains to enable longer term product, analytics, and machine learning goals.
- Work closely with the other Product & Engineering leaders on strategy, technology and people, including improving our data engineering practices and introducing capabilities that can accelerate data access, reliability, and unlock new product and data-driven opportunities
Skills & Experience
- Experience working in a high growth scaleup environment
- Passionate about climate
- Product minded and able to demonstrate significant impact you have had on a business through the application of data platforms and data-driven systems
- 2+ years experience leading and managing data engineers across multiple teams
- Experience working with the following (or similar) technologies: Python, SQL, data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Airflow, Dagster), data warehouses/lakehouses, Postgres DB, data pipelines
- Ability to unblock your team by contributing at a senior engineering level (e.g., reviewing data models, debugging pipelines, guiding architecture). How hands-on you'll be in this role will depend on team size and maturity
- Comfortable working in a build it, run it environment (GCP, cloud run, grafana, k8s) - or similar, with an understanding of data reliability, observability, and pipeline operations
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and coach engineers at all levels
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment
- Passion for learning and staying updated with evolving technologies and industry trends, particularly in data engineering and data infrastructure

Role & Team

- Grow the teams by attracting and hiring great Data and ML talent
- Foster an inclusive, supportive, and caring culture where everyone can do their best work

Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of professional experience building ML- or data-driven systems, at least 3 years’ experience leading and managing ML or data-focused teams
- Passionate about climate and the role technology can play in addressing environmental challenges
- Experience working in a high-growth scale-up or startup environment
- Product-minded, with the ability to demonstrate meaningful business impact through technology
- Sufficient technical depth in machine learning, data systems, or applied ML to guide teams and challenge decisions
- Experience working with python-based ML or data workflows and collaborating closely with data scientists
- Strong leadership skills, with a coaching mindset and the ability to support engineers and data scientists at all levels
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional environments
- Passion for learning and staying current with evolving technologies and industry trend

- Engineering mindset or background, with experience applying software engineering best practices to data and ML systems (e.g., reproducibility, testing, monitoring, and production deployments)

Role & Team
As our inaugural Senior Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding Overstory’s systems, data, and reputation. Partnering closely with your manager - the Director of Information Security and Compliance - you will take ownership of our security and compliance posture, and define, implement, and continuously improve our security program.
You will lead initiatives across vulnerability management, compliance, and security operations, while acting as a trusted partner to engineering, product, and business teams. This role is ideal for someone who combines hands-on technical expertise with a strategic mindset and enjoys building scalable security practices in a growing company.
Time Zone Requirement: Eastern North America (NST, AST, EST)
What You’ll Do
- Own and evolve Overstory’s compliance program, ensuring ongoing alignment with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other relevant frameworks
- Drive vulnerability management end-to-end, from detection to remediation, working closely with engineering teams to prioritize and resolve risks efficiently
- Design and improve security processes and controls across infrastructure, applications, and internal systems
- Lead security input in architecture and engineering decisions, helping teams build secure-by-design systems
- Oversee and improve identity and access management, endpoint security, and core IT security practices
- Own vendor security and third-party risk management, including assessments, risk evaluation, and mitigation strategies
- Lead audit readiness and execution for SOC 2 and ISO 27001, including control design, evidence collection, and auditor coordination
- Partner with customer-facing teams to handle security questionnaires and build scalable, high-quality response processes
- Contribute to security awareness and culture, mentoring others and raising the security bar across the organization
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience in security engineering, security operations, or a related field
- Direct experience with security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and/or ISO 27001, including audit processes
- Deep experience with vulnerability management, including tooling, prioritization, and remediation workflows
- Fluency working across cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and modern SaaS ecosystems
- Experience with identity and access management, endpoint security, and IT/security operations
- Demonstrated ability to translate security risks into clear, actionable guidance for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Demonstrable experience (or at a minimum a serious interest in) leveraging AI tooling to accelerate business impact.
- Strong written communication skills and are comfortable owning documentation and audit artifacts
- Demonstrable proactive, pragmatic mindset as well as capacity for balancing security best practices with business needs
- Experience working cross-functionally influencing without authority in a remote-first environment
Nice To Have
- Experience designing or improving SIEM, logging, and alerting pipelines
- Familiarity with compliance automation platforms (Drata, Vanta, Tugboat, etc.)
- Experience leading or owning SOC 2 / ISO 27001 audits
- Background in application or cloud security engineering

Role & Team
We’re looking for a Director of Platform & Infrastructure to own and evolve our core engineering foundations. Reporting to our VP of Product Engineering, this role will lead SRE, MLOps, and Platform teams with a mandate to create leverage across the entire organization.
As a scaling startup, we’re evolving from early-stage infrastructure to a more mature, reliable platform that can support rapid product development and growing customer demand. This role is critical in helping us make that transition — building systems, standards, and teams that enable speed today while laying the foundation for long-term scale.
Partnering closely with product, data, and application engineering teams, you will set the technical vision, define best practices, and ensure our infrastructure enables teams to move fast with confidence.
This is a highly cross-functional leadership role for someone who combines deep technical judgment with a systems mindset, strong people leadership, and a passion for building platforms that empower others.

What You'll Do
- Own the platform strategy across Platform, MLOps, and SRE, aligning it with company and product goals
- Grow senior ICs (and eventually manages) across multiple teams, fostering strong technical leadership and healthy team cultures
- Define and evolve our platform vision, including developer experience, internal tooling, CI/CD, infrastructure, observability, and reliability standards
- Oversee MLOps systems that support model development, training, deployment, monitoring, and governance in production
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, ML, Data, Security, and Compliance to ensure the platform meets current and future needs
- Balance speed and stability, making thoughtful tradeoffs between innovation, cost, reliability, and operational excellence
- Set metrics and accountability for platform performance, reliability, and developer productivity
Skills & Experience
- 10+ years experience leading platform, infrastructure, or reliability teams in a scaling startup environment, including navigating ambiguity, rapid growth, and the transition from early-stage systems to more mature, repeatable platforms
- Strong understanding of cloud-native infrastructure (GCP strongly preferred), Kubernetes, CI/CD, and modern DevOps practices
- Experience supporting machine learning systems in production, including model deployment, monitoring, and lifecycle management
- A track record of building reliable, scalable systems used by fast-moving product teams
- Excellent people leadership skills — you know how to coach managers, grow talent, and build inclusive, high-performing teams
- Strong communication skills and the ability to influence across org boundaries
- Experience in data- or ML-heavy products

Our engineering team is growing! We are looking for multiple senior full stack engineers to join our web product team(s) and help us scale our product suite.
As a Senior Software Engineer at Overstory, you will have a direct impact on our mission by building new capabilities and features that in turn enable utility companies to more effectively manage risks associated with climate change, wildfires and storms. We will also look to you to effectively partner with product, design and tech leads on key initiatives and mentor other engineers from time to time.

- Proven experience of full stack development across the following (or similar) technologies: *Python/FastAPI, React/Typescript, Postgres DB, data pipelines; (*Python experience a core requirement)
- Recent experience working in a build it, run it environment (GCP, cloud run, grafana, k8s) - or similar
- Experience working in a high growth scaleup environment across distributed, remote teams
- Deeply committed to tackling the climate crisis

Role & Team
As a Staff Engineer, you will work across multiple teams to evolve a suite of web and internal tools that enable utility companies to more effectively manage risks associated with climate change and wildfires.

At Overstory, our Staff Engineers are hands-on technical leaders whose influence extends beyond their team either through leading cross team initiatives, making technology choices for critical aspects of our technology platform or solving for critical technical challenges within teams enabling our business to achieve our rapid scaling plans (growing 3x YoY).
This role will start off being primarily team scoped solving critical scaling challenges. There is scope to expand remit as we grow.

Role & Team
As a Staff Machine Learning Engineer at Overstory, you will lead the development and scaling of our Wildfire Fuel Detection Model. This core engine powers how we understand vegetation structure, fuel loads, and wildfire risk from satellite and environmental data. You’ll help shape the next generation of Overstory’s modeling capabilities by combining cutting-edge ML techniques, large-scale geospatial data, and real-world domain expertise.
Reporting to our VP of Product Engineering, you’ll work closely with data scientists, ML engineers, and product teams to ensure our wildfire models are accurate, robust, and production-ready – balancing scientific rigor with practical engineering excellence. As a senior technical leader, you’ll mentor other engineers, drive architectural decisions, and define standards for modeling, experimentation, and deployment across Overstory.
Time zone requirement: Eastern North America (NST, AST, EST)
What You’ll Do
In collaboration with data, ML, and science colleagues, you will:
- Architect and build advanced ML models to map and predict vegetation and fuel conditions across diverse geographies.
- Design and maintain robust data and feature pipelines for large-scale geospatial and temporal data.
- Partner with wildfire science and product teams to define modeling objectives and evaluation metrics tied to real-world impact.
- Build reproducible experimentation frameworks and model evaluation workflows.
- Scale models from research to production with a focus on performance, reliability, and explainability.
- Lead the evolution of ML systems, tooling, and processes — ensuring that our wildfire fuelscape models remain state-of-the-art and maintainable.
- Collaborate with MLOps peers to streamline training, inference, and monitoring in production environments.
Skills & Experience
- Experience thriving at the intersection of machine learning, geospatial data, and environmental science; deeply motivated by the opportunity to reduce wildfire risk through data-driven insights
- 10+ years of experience designing and building production-grade ML pipelines and systems
- Strong background in deep learning, computer vision, or remote sensing
- Skilled in designing end-to-end ML systems — from data ingestion and preprocessing to deployment and monitoring
- Hands-on experience with frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, or LightGBM, and data tools like Dask, Spark, or GeoPandas
- Familiarity with GCP and Vertex AI, or similar cloud-based ML platforms
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across technical and scientific domains
- Comfortable leading architectural discussions and mentoring other engineers

The Role
As the CTO of Overstory, you will lead and scale a world-class engineering team that reduces the risk of wildfires and power outages around the world. This is a rare opportunity for a seasoned engineering leader to help guide a commercially successful climate-tech company through its next stage of growth.
Following our Series B, we’re entering a phase of rapid expansion. You will define a compelling technical strategy and build the team to deliver it. This role requires someone who can zoom in and out seamlessly — rolling up your sleeves to solve complex technical problems while also communicating effectively with the board.
Our product sits at the intersection of AI and remote sensing — fields evolving at light speed. Role & Team
As a Senior Engineer, you will have a direct impact on the development of core geospatial products and internal data-processing and annotation tools at Overstory.
Your breadth of skills will allow you to set a technical vision for the development of the web applications, ETL pipelines, and backend services owned by these teams.
You’ll partner with product managers, external resources, and your team members to execute this vision.

What You’ll Do
- Explore best practices to combine coding agents with software craftsmanship and teach other engineers these practices
- Optimize the orchestration of several object detection and image alignment models
- Design and maintain robust data and feature pipelines for millions of geospatial entities
- Contribute to the technical vision for the development of our internal annotation and QA web applications
- Work closely with your Product Manager to discover and propose new products to solve use cases such as anticipating the impact of an outage at a particular locatio
Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a senior software engineer
- Skilled in designing ETL pipelines with near-real-time orchestration, in Python.
- Strong background building and maintaining scalable web-applications with React, FastAPI, PostgreSQL
- Experience with XP practices such as TDD or trunk based development. The team would be new to these practices
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts to various audience
Nice To Have
- Experience with the Geospatial ecosystem such as PostGIS, Geopandas or Deck.GL
- Experience with Dagster, Airflow or similar orchestration frameworks
- Experience with building web-applications tailored for repeatable human or agentic workflows

About Our Team
We are a group of 100 people from all over the world. Fifteen nationalities are represented in our team and at last count we speak fourteen languages: English, Dutch, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, Luxembourgish, Lithuanian, Bulgarian, Cantonese, Estonian, and Danish.
We work remotely from eleven countries and are looking for candidates that are living and working in one of them: United States, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, Ireland, Estonia, Portugal, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark and Canada. We gather once a year in-person for our unforgettable team gathering event. We also offer the option to occasionally meet up for in-person collaboration.
