As a Web Application Developer, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing our core Perl-based web application, ensuring performance, reliability, and security. You will work closely with internal teams to implement critical system features, optimize database interactions, and streamline development workflows.
Responsibilities:
Application Development and Maintenance:
- Maintain existing Perl web application code to ensure high performance, stability, and security.
- Design, develop, and deploy new features and enhancements for the application.
- Collaborate with internal teams to define requirements, architecture, and deployment strategies.
Database Management:
- Manage and optimize database interactions using SQL to ensure data integrity and efficiency.
Development Tools and Processes:
- Utilize modern development tools, including VSCode and Git, to manage source control and streamline development workflows.
- Follow coding best practices, perform code reviews, and ensure adherence to development standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with internal teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Provide input and feedback on system enhancements and process improvements.
What we look for:
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Perl development.
- Front-end development skills: HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
- SQL for database querying and management.
- Experience with Git and development environment management with VSCode.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other programming languages such as Python or Node.js.
- Familiarity with Linux, Docker, and Shell scripting.
- Proficiency with MySQL or PostgreSQL.
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Prior experience in Financial or Transportation industries is a plus.
