Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative entry-level/new graduate with an interest in roadway and transportation design to support a variety of projects, including urban and rural roadways, multimodal paths, and highway and interchange improvements.

As a member of our Roadway team, you will work alongside experienced engineers on meaningful transportation projects that positively impact communities. You will contribute to project delivery through CAD drafting and design support, assist with research and preparation of technical reports, and participate in field observations and site visits as needed. Job Description

Our transportation team delivers innovative solutions for highways, interchanges, arterial roadways, and municipal street systems that improve mobility, safety, and long-term community development.

As a Licensed Engineer (PE) on our Roadway team, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of roadway projects of varying size and complexity. You will contribute technical expertise while also supporting project management activities and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and support the planning and design of roadway projects, including urban and rural highways, interchanges, and municipal roadways.
Prepare and review engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents in accordance with client and regulatory standards (e.g., DOT guidelines).
Perform and oversee design calculations, including horizontal and vertical alignments, drainage considerations, and roadway geometrics.
Develop cost estimates and assist with project budgeting, scheduling, and resource coordination.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (traffic, bridge, drainage, survey, and environmental) to deliver cohesive project solutions.
Communicate with clients, stakeholders, and project teams throughout the project lifecycle, including participation in meetings and presentations.
Support or lead project management efforts, including tracking progress, managing deliverables, and ensuring quality and timeliness.
Conduct site visits and field observations to support design development and construction activities.

Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of Arkansas, or the ability to obtain within six months
Knowledge of municipal and DOT standards and procedures
Strong communication skills
Ability to contribute and work well on a team

As a member of Olsson’s Roadway team, you will contribute to a wide range of transportation and infrastructure projects that support safe, efficient, and sustainable communities. In this role, you will support roadway planning and design efforts through CAD drafting and design, assist with research and technical documentation, and participate in field visits and site observations as needed. Job Description

Olsson provides multidisciplinary design services for transportation projects spanning DOT and municipal roadway systems, including urban and rural highways, interchanges, and local streets. As a Licensed Roadway Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of roadway projects, with a strong emphasis on enclosed storm sewer drainage design. Responsibilities include preparing roadway and drainage plans and specifications, performing and reviewing design and hydraulic calculations, developing cost estimates, and supporting project management efforts. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, agency partners, and clients, contribute to technical decision‑making, and help mentor junior staff. The role also includes participation in client meetings and occasional field observations, offering involvement throughout the full project lifecycle.
