Role Summary

The Residential Whole Loan - Analyst/Associate will be a key contributor to the execution of our residential mortgage investment strategy spanning over $1.5 billion in whole loan residential mortgages.  In this role, the Associate will support market analysis, loan stratification and data-driven pricing, underwriting support, and portfolio monitoring and reporting. The role requires strong technical skills to enhance data processing, automation, and analytics within the investment process. The ideal candidate should be eager to learn, adaptable to evolving capital markets, and comfortable integrating technology into financial analysis. Additionally, this role will also support ongoing business development efforts, including analyzing new origination channels and conducting due diligence. The Associate will cross train and develop other members of the team, ensuring proper depth of talent and resources within the capital markets function.

The Associate will have experience in the residential mortgage and/or RMBS structured finance markets including, but not limited to: asset-level contract finance, due diligence (asset valuation, credit and compliance), collateral analysis, risk mitigation, product development, regulation compliance, and vendor/client management. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support the residential mortgage team on transactions and asset management of the residential mortgage investment portfolio
• Perform deep sector specific research and analysis, identify relative value and potential trade opportunities, and communicate ideas across the team
• Keep portfolio managers updated on key developments in mortgage related sectors, and contribute to the team’s strategic outlook in both whole loan and securitized markets
• Help negotiate and manage flow and bulk contracts

Minimum Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree (preferably in accounting, finance, economics, math, or engineering)
• 5+ years experience within the residential mortgage space
• Knowledge of mortgage structured finance including Agency / Non-Agency MBS and Credit Risk Transfer (CRT) markets, with the skills to run various sensitivity and scenario analysis using prepayment models
• Familiarity with loan-level due diligence, collateral, and contract finance for residential mortgage loans
• Strong quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint, and customer relationship management software

Chief Compliance Officer

Job Summary

The Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) will lead and oversee the compliance program for NLG Capital, Inc. (the Firm), an SEC-registered investment adviser within the National Life Group family of companies. This senior leadership role is responsible for preparing and executing a forward-looking compliance strategy that ensures adherence to regulatory standards while enabling the Firm’s continued growth across various asset markets—including CLO management, Private Credit, Asset-Backed Finance, and Commercial Real Estate investment strategies.

The CCO will partner closely with the Firm’s leadership team, Board and Legal team to integrate compliance across both traditional insurance asset management and the Firm’s expanding private markets platform. This position plays a critical role in supporting NLG Capital’s strategic shift from public to private assets, providing practical, solutions-oriented compliance guidance that supports innovation while maintaining strong governance and fiduciary standards.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Compliance Leadership

• Define and execute a comprehensive compliance strategy aligned with NLG Capital’s growth priorities, including private credit, CLO management, asset-backed finance, commercial real estate and other private markets.
  • Partner with leadership to ensure compliance frameworks enable business objectives while maintaining regulatory integrity and investor confidence.
  • Provide proactive guidance on compliance risks, regulatory developments, and industry trends—particularly those shaping private and alternative investments.
  • Build and maintain a governance framework that spans both traditional insurance investments and private asset platforms.

Regulatory Oversight & Relationship Management

• Serve as the primary point of contact for the SEC and other regulatory bodies, overseeing examinations, inquiries, and communications.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all regulatory filings (e.g., Form ADV, Rule 206(4)-7 annual reviews) and Board reporting.
  • Monitor and interpret new and evolving regulations affecting investment activities, including private credit, structured finance, and real estate investment activities, ensuring the Firm remains prepared and compliant.

Program Development & Execution

• Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Firm’s compliance program, with specific focus on CLO management, private lending, and SPV oversight.

  • Partner with investment and operations teams to develop compliance controls around credit underwriting, borrower diligence, and collateral management.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or Law (required). Advanced degree (JD, MBA) or professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CAIA, IACCP) strongly preferred.

Experience

• 10+ years of progressive compliance or legal experience in investment advisory, asset management, or private markets, including at least 10 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated expertise in private credit, CLOs, structured finance, and commercial real estate investing, including oversight of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs).
  • Proven success leading compliance programs at firms managing both public and private assets.

Skills

• Deep knowledge of SEC regulations, the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, and compliance best practices across alternative and private asset classes.

Position Summary 

The Investment Analytics Analyst will have direct exposure to NLG Capital's investment process by supporting senior members of the Office of the CIO Team. In doing so, they will work on projects related to asset allocation, risk management, performance measurement, competitive intelligence, and other investment related projects. The high impact role will offer exposure to key areas of the National Life investment process while ensuring that we are able to objectively frame our investment portfolio positioning and risk.  This role provides the necessary information that is required to improve our investment decisions and to ensure that our decisions are aligned with the strategic objectives and constraints facing National Life Group.  

Responsibilities 

• Supporting the Office of the CIO in executing on NLG Capital’s investment strategies 

• Create and improve analytical tools and monitors that support our investment process through improved understanding and visualizing complex data sets 

• Create monitors that bring transparency and objectivity of information to our investment process 

• Influence key decision makers through recurring and ad hoc analysis 

• Integrate insights into practical workflows utilizing Excel, Tableau / Microsoft BI, and email-based reporting

THE PERSON 

Pivotal Experience & Expertise 

• Strong understanding of financial markets, with at least three years of investment experience or an advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Financial Engineering, Data Science or Computer Science or combination thereof 

• Asset management experience within the insurance industry preferred 

• Experience in financial analysis and/or development and/or business analytics related roles 

• Experience using Excel, Microsoft BI, Tableau, and other data visualization tools 

• SQL and Python helpful

Role Summary

• The Hedging Leader at NLG Capital is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the hedging framework and activity for the company’s insurance and reinsurance operations. This is a critical leadership role that sits at the intersection of investments, risk management, and actuarial strategy. The position requires deep expertise in hedging and derivative strategies, specifically index and product related design, combined with the ability to lead a team and collaborate across functions to ensure effective risk management, capital efficiency, and alignment with the firm’s long-term objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a scalable hedging program to manage market, interest rate, and option risks across NLG’s insurance companies.
• Oversee day-to-day hedging operations, starting with static hedging programs and evolving toward dynamic overlays as business and asset volumes increase.
• Monitor and report on hedge effectiveness, including metrics such as value-at-risk, hedge P&L attribution, and capital impacts.
• Partner with investment, actuarial, and finance teams to design and execute hedging strategies for new products, M&A, and reinsurance deals—including FX hedging and in force risk management.
• Optimize collateral and capital efficiency associated with hedging activities.
• Build and lead a high-performing team of 2–3 professionals responsible for hedge execution, reporting, and analytics.
• Collaborate with actuaries, distribution partners, and banking counterparties on the development and launch of new FIA and RILA products, including custom and indexed-linked strategies.
• Work with corporate finance and actuarial valuation teams to support projections, capital planning, and stress testing.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven track record of successfully designing and implementing hedging programs in insurance or reinsurance contexts.
• Broad understanding of life and annuity products, including IUL, FIA, MYGA and RILA.
• Strong ability to communicate complex hedging strategies simply and effectively to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience balancing risk management and capital efficiency objectives.
• Strong technical proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with quantitative tools preferred.
• Self-motivated with demonstrated excellent leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Actuarial, quantitative finance, or CFA background preferred but not required.

Position Overview

The Director of RMBS Trading & Residential Credit Investing is responsible for leading residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) trading, whole loan trading, and private residential credit investment initiatives. This role oversees portfolio management, sourcing, pricing, structuring, and execution across a broad range of residential credit asset classes. The Director drives relative value analysis, develops proprietary analytical tools, manages junior team members, and partners cross-functionally to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns.

Key Responsibilities

RMBS Trading & Portfolio Management

• Manage and actively trade multi-sector RMBS portfolio, including agency, non-agency, CRT, NPL/RPL, and other structured credit subsectors.
• Conduct relative value analysis, performance surveillance, and risk monitoring across holdings.
• Source and evaluate market opportunities, maintaining relationships with buy-side and sell-side counterparties.
• Develop and enhance internal pricing models and analytical frameworks to support trading decisions.
• Oversee portfolio analytics, scenario analysis, and performance attribution.
• Build loan-level pricing models incorporating prepayment, default, severity, and rate assumptions.
• Manage and mentor junior team members responsible for modeling and portfolio surveillance.
• Manage acquisition and disposition of whole loan asset classes
• Coordinate transaction execution with legal, transaction management, counterparties, and servicers.
• Prepare and present detailed investment committee memoranda outlining return expectations, risk factors, and sensitivities.

Risk Analytics & Process Development

• Design and implement robust portfolio monitoring and delinquency tracking frameworks.
• Develop expected loss modeling and pricing optimization tools.
• Collaborate with middle and back-office teams to design underwriting and operational processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field; strong academic record required.
• 7+ years of experience in RMBS trading, whole loan trading, residential credit investing, structured products, or mortgage analytics.
• Deep knowledge of residential mortgage products, securitization structures, and credit performance drivers.
• Strong financial modeling skills (loan-level cash flow modeling, scenario analysis, yield and spread analysis).
• Experience presenting investments to Investment Committees.
• Demonstrated ability to manage portfolios and drive P&L performance.
• Strong negotiation and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Prior team leadership or analyst management experience preferred.
