About the role
Muon seeks an experienced and passionate spacecraft structural analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate has unwavering attention to detail and a total ownership mindset to help the team develop robust hardware which meets requirements on time. Being an early-stage startup with a small team, breadth is extremely important and we expect this person go far beyond running finite elements analyses. Ability to dive into structural test data, dynamics, inform risk vs. cost decisions, supplier interaction and everything else associated with the full lifecycle of a spacecraft and optical payload development is critical.
Leadership is also a key attribute we seek for this role. Muon’s team will be growing rapidly over time and there will be opportunities for both direct-management and indirect (tutoring, mentoring).

As a Senior Mission Lead Systems Engineer, you will serve as the technical lead for a specific Muon mission, owning the end-to-end technical success from concept through on-orbit operations. You will be the primary technical interface with customers for your mission. In this role you will have a “big-picture” view of mission execution, spanning the full lifecycle of mission design - from initial formulation with the Business Development team, through execution with the space vehicle hardware and software teams, to on-orbit validation and mission performance monitoring with the Operations team. You will be responsible for interacting with customers and cross functional team leads to develop requirements and ICDs, work with other Systems Engineers to perform system modeling, develop test plans with AI&T teams, and identify and reduce risk across the program with Program Managers.

Muon seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to serve as a Mission Mechanical Lead on upcoming missions. In this role, you’ll be working with our customers and system engineers to design a solution that meets mission requirements by re-using existing platform components & designing new components that are unique to the mission.
You’ll own the mechanical direction of the mission from requirements definition to installation on the launch vehicle.
