Muon seeks a Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate can go deep on design and analysis but also has a "systems mindset" and will be a force multiplier collaborating with other disciplines to arrive at an elegant, well-balanced design. Being an early-stage startup with a small team, breadth is extremely important and we expect this person to dive into structural analysis, dynamics, thermal design, supplier management, and everything else associated with the full lifecycle of an electromechanical product.
This is an individual contributor role focused on hands-on design, analysis, build support, and test execution for spacecraft mechanical hardware.
Due to the hands-on nature of this role, it requires onsite work at our Mountain View and San Jose locations.

The salary range for this role is $144,000 - $177,000 plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.

About the role
Muon seeks an experienced and passionate spacecraft structural analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate has unwavering attention to detail and a total ownership mindset to help the team develop robust hardware which meets requirements on time. Being an early-stage startup with a small team, breadth is extremely important and we expect this person go far beyond running finite elements analyses. Ability to dive into structural test data, dynamics, inform risk vs. cost decisions, supplier interaction and everything else associated with the full lifecycle of a spacecraft and optical payload development is critical.
Leadership is also a key attribute we seek for this role. Muon’s team will be growing rapidly over time and there will be opportunities for both direct-management and indirect (tutoring, mentoring).
This role is located at our headquarters in San Jose, California.

Muon seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to serve as a Mission Mechanical Lead on upcoming missions. In this role, you’ll be working with our customers and system engineers to design a solution that meets mission requirements by re-using existing platform components & designing new components that are unique to the mission.
You’ll own the mechanical direction of the mission from requirements definition to installation on the launch vehicle. This will include direct collaboration with the customer, as well as Muon’s systems engineering team to understand requirements, then an execution focus internally, pulling in relevant stakeholders (such as structural, thermal, electrical, etc) at the appropriate times to deliver a robust satellite on-time.

Muon seeks a Harness Designer to join our electrical engineering team. The ideal candidate is self-motivated and will help the entire Hardware Department. You will be working on the electrical team and will specify connectors, crimps, wire type and harness build instructions. This role will work in tandem with the mechanical harness counterpart who will specify routes, lengths, branch points and spacecraft integration instructions. This designer should be flexible and incorporate feedback from the AIT team to help with improving designs for spacecraft integration or test. This role is based in our Mountain View, CA office with a hybrid schedule requiring three days on-site per week.
The role will entail simultaneous work on multiple missions and projects, partnering with several engineers, designers, and technicians.

Muon seeks a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team, reporting to the Director of Mechanical Engineering. This role will be deeply technical with a focus on solving the most demanding design, analysis, test, reliability, and manufacturing challenges across multiple spacecraft platforms.
