We are currently looking for a Senior Radar FPGA/Embedded Systems Engineer to support our growing team. Our Radar Systems group develops, maintains, and operates advanced software for phased array radars. This role would be responsible for building, maintaining, and deploying the FPGA images we use in our in house SDRs as well as the control software to interact with the radar and drivers.

Daily work focuses on software development in the following key areas:

Xilinx Platform Ownership

• Own and maintain the Xilinx Vivado + Yocto project(s) end-to-end
• Modernize and harden the development and production environments
• Update the existing projects to build and run on current Xilinx tool versions
• Establish a reliable process to build, package, and deploy FPGA/boot images to devices (local and remote)

Testing, Verification & Reliability

• Significantly improve the FPGA verification and regression infrastructure
• Add observability and diagnostics for on-target debug (ILA/VIO, counters, assertions/health monitors) and define acceptance tests for new releases

Embedded Software Integration (C / Rust)

• Be comfortable reading and writing C and Rust for embedded targets to support FPGA integration
• Define and maintain clean FPGA software contracts to support long-term maintainability

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance
• Bachelor's degree in EE/CE (or related) plus 8+ years of relevant FPGA experience (or equivalent advanced degree + fewer years)
• Excellent communications skills, must be able to communicate highly technical ideas in a manner that is comprehensible to a team composed of individuals from diverse disciplines
• Strong, demonstrated experience owning production Xilinx FPGA projects (Vivado, constraints, IP integration), plus embedded Linux exposure
• Direct experience with Xilinx RFSoC devices (architecture, data converters, clocking, tool flow, common pitfalls)
• Ability to take an HDL module through the full FPGA flow on an SoC platform
• Experience operating and updating Yocto/AMD EDF-based systems in the field, including remote update/deployment workflows
• Experience writing performant C (and/or Rust) code for embedded systems, and optimizing for highly constrained environments

Preferred / Huge Plus

• Practical experience with coherent timing systems (10 MHz / 1PPS) and debugging timing-sensitive field issues 
• Modify and improve FPGA-based RF/radar signal processing chains
• Work with RF/signal-processing stakeholders to translate performance needs into FPGA changes
• Manage fixed-point design tradeoffs and validate against system-level metrics

The Opportunity

Join LeoLabs’ Hardware Engineering team in Menlo Park and help develop the next generation of radar systems that deliver persistent orbital intelligence to customers around the world.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will lead the design and development of complex electronics that are central to LeoLabs’ radar platforms. This is a hands-on role for an experienced engineer who can take ownership of board-level hardware from architecture and schematic capture through PCB implementation, bring-up, validation, and production support.

You will work closely with RF, mechanical, embedded, test, and manufacturing engineers to deliver robust, high-performance hardware across power, control, timing, and mixed-signal applications. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced hardware environment, enjoys solving challenging cross-disciplinary problems, and wants to build real systems that move quickly from concept to deployment.

This position is full-time onsite at our Menlo Park, CA headquarters. Occasional international travel may be required to support deployment and site activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of complex PCBAs and electrical subsystems for next-generation radar hardware
• Drive hardware from concept development, requirements definition, architecture, component selection, schematic capture, layout direction, bring-up, verification, and release to manufacturing
• Own board-level implementation for mixed-signal, power, control, timing, and other performance-critical designs
• Develop high-quality PCB layouts with strong attention to stack-up, grounding, return paths, high-current routing, controlled impedance, signal integrity, manufacturability, and reliability
• Work closely with RF, mechanical, embedded software, test, and manufacturing engineers to ensure successful system integration
• Support prototype bring-up, bench validation, debugging, root-cause analysis, and design iteration in the lab
• Collaborate with fabrication and assembly partners to resolve technical issues, improve DFM/DFT, and support transition from prototype to production
• Contribute to electrical architecture decisions, design reviews, and technical trade studies across multiple programs
• Help raise the team’s hardware design rigor through strong engineering judgment, documentation, and cross-functional execution

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance
• BSEE or equivalent technical degree
• 7+ years of experience designing complex board-level electronics
• Strong Altium experience in schematic capture and PCB design
• Experience taking hardware from concept through bring-up, debug, and manufacturing
• Strong mixed-signal PCB design fundamentals, including power, grounding, and EMI/EMC-aware layout
• Hands-on experience with board bring-up and electrical troubleshooting
• Experience working cross-functionally with mechanical, embedded, test, and manufacturing teams

Preferred Qualifications

• MSEE or equivalent advanced degree
• Experience designing electronics for radar, aerospace, communications, defense, robotics, or other demanding hardware applications
• Experience with high-speed PCB design, including controlled impedance and differential pair routing
• Familiarity with power, embedded, FPGA, or mixed-signal subsystems
• Experience supporting prototype builds and transition to production
• Experience working with manufacturers on DFM and production readiness

Within 1 month, you will:

• Ramp quickly on LeoLabs’ radar systems, hardware architecture, and active development programs
• Build familiarity with current board designs, design tools, and lab workflows
• Begin contributing to an active electrical design effort and supporting ongoing hardware bring-up and debug

Within 3 months, you will:

• Own execution of a board or subsystem design effort from schematic and layout through prototype release
• Drive hardware bring-up, validation, and design iteration in collaboration with RF, mechanical, embedded, and test engineers
• Contribute meaningfully to design reviews, technical tradeoffs, and cross-functional hardware integration

Within 6 months, you will:

• Lead development of multiple board-level designs or major electrical subsystems in active programs
• Release hardware for prototype or production builds and support manufacturing execution
• Identify and implement improvements to electrical design quality, development speed, and cross-team execution

Within 12 months, you will:

• Serve as a technical leader across multiple hardware development efforts
• Drive complex electrical designs from concept through validation and production
• Help shape the team’s engineering approach through strong execution, technical judgment, and mentorship

The Opportunity 

At LeoLabs, the Hardware Engineering Team designs, develops, manufactures, and deploys the advanced radar systems which provide persistent orbital intelligence to our customers worldwide. As a Manufacturing Technician, you will play a critical role in the production build. This role is focused on executing standardized manufacturing processes, supporting production schedules, and ensuring hardware is built to quality and configuration requirements. You will work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to support production throughput, issue resolution, and continuous improvement across complex electromechanical and RF systems. This is a full-time, on-site role based at our headquarters in Menlo Park, CA. 

Responsibilities 

• Assemble electromechanical subassemblies per work instructions, engineering drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) 

• Operate hand tools, power tools, and basic production equipment safely and effectively 

• Perform in-process inspections and final visual inspections to verify build quality 

• Identify defects, workmanship issues, or missing components and escalate appropriately 

• Support production schedules by completing builds on time and communicating blockers 

• Support prototype builds and engineering activities including mechanical modifications and rework 

• Operate standard shop equipment (drill press, band saw, belt sander, etc.) to perform light fabrication and part modification 

• Fabricate or modify simple brackets, fixtures, or mechanical components to support engineering and production efforts 

• Assist with general lab and production floor organization and equipment setup as needed 

Qualifications 

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. personnel security clearance
• 5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing involving mechanical or electromechanical assembly
• Demonstrated experience supporting the production of complex electromechanical systems
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions
• Experience using standard shop tools and performing basic mechanical fabrication tasks
• Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines 

Preferred Qualifications 

• Experience with PLM (e.g., Arena) and ERP (e.g., NetSuite) systems
• Background in electronics manufacturing and mechanical assembly  
• Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up
• Ability to thrive in a startup or rapidly evolving environment

The Opportunity 

We are seeking a highly organized and professional Office Manager to ensure smooth daily operations at our Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA - a fast-paced corporate and manufacturing environment. This role serves as the front-facing representative of the facility while providing administrative, logistical, and cross-functional support to supply chain, radar engineering, and leadership teams. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, adaptable, and confident working in a regulated environment, including areas subject to ITAR requirements.  

Though a full-fledged office environment, our Headquarters primarily functions as a radar engineering, warehousing, and manufacturing hub. Officially, you will be joining the Supply Chain Management department within the Radar team and will report to the Associate Director of Supply Chain Management. 

This is an on-site role at our Headquarters in Menlo Park, CA, 5 days a week. 

Responsibilities: 

Facility & Operations Management 

• Serve as front-desk point of contact; manage visitor check-in/check-out, badging, background checks, and security protocols (including ITAR compliance) 
• Manage relationships with landlords, contractors, and service vendors (cleaning, utilities, catering, IT, waste management, etc.); oversee contracts, billing, and issue resolution 
• Coordinate building maintenance, modifications, and facility improvements; conduct routine walkthroughs to identify needs and ensure compliance 
• Manage office equipment inventory (furniture, printers, kitchen equipment, refrigeration) 

Administrative & Supply Management 

• Assist with domestic and international new hire onboarding logistics: workspace setup, equipment coordination, badging, and swag distribution  
• Manage office supplies and snacks budgets, including vendor selection, ordering, inventory, and kitchen maintenance 
• Handle incoming/outgoing mail, document scanning, filing, preparation and shipping of legal documents, and secure destruction of confidential materials 
• Schedule conference room bookings and provide calendar/meeting coordination support to senior leadership

Safety, Compliance, and Culture

• Plan and execute office events (game nights, BBQ, holiday party, celebrations) and milestone recognition; coordinate team-building activities 

Cross-Functional Support 

• Coordinate with HR on in-office interviews, employee information, and administrative needs 
• Coordinate with Legal for document signatures, notarization, and compliance matters 
• Serve as backup support to Admin team for last-minute office needs 
• Assist with ITAR/NDA form execution and processing 
• Coordinate with IT relating to company devices and security protocols 
• Run various errands as required (valid driver's license required; mileage reimbursement provided) 

Required Qualifications 

• 5+ years of office administration, operations, or facilities management experience (manufacturing or enterprise environment preferred) 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently, take initiative, and work with minimal supervision 
• Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills; comfortable interacting professionally with all levels of staff, leadership, and external stakeholders 
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and sound judgment 
• High attention to detail with strong problem-solving mindset 
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook); ability to maintain spreadsheets, contact lists, and distribution lists 
• Experience managing vendor contracts, relationships, and billing
