Job Description

You will work with the Layer Health ML team applying our existing ML workflow to tailor models for a specific clinical use case. You will design, build, evaluate, and iterate on these models — combining strong data science fundamentals with modern LLM techniques to deliver high-accuracy, production-ready solutions across new clinical domains.

This is a high-velocity, high-ownership role for someone who enjoys diving deep into error modes, making targeted improvements, and closing the loop between model performance and real-world impact.

What you’ll do:

• Own end-to-end development of models for specific use cases: Build and iterate using our ML/LLM-powered workflows for new clinical areas, from initial prototyping through production refinement.

We’re looking for a dynamic individual to join us as a Solutions Engineer, working with health system customers to pilot clinical solutions using the Layer Health platform.  Working alongside another Solutions Engineer on our team, you'll leverage your technical expertise and understanding of both healthcare workflows and healthcare integrations to collaboratively build bleeding-edge prototypes of clinical solutions and help discover the next generation of applications through participative design and iterative development with customers, including some of the largest healthcare systems in the country.  You'll collaborate closely with the Customer Success, Sales, and highly engaged Product Engineering teams to understand customer needs, rapidly prototype solutions, and successfully implement lightweight pilots. We’re currently hiring our first Head of Marketing. You'll help define and lead Layer Health’s marketing strategy across digital marketing, product marketing, and go-to-market (GTM) channels. • In collaboration with the Customer Success and Product teams, perform detailed workflow analysis at client hospitals to understand clinical workflows and help design AI-based interventions.

What you'll need:

• You are an exceptional Clinical Informatician with significant experience in analyzing and redesigning healthcare IT workflows and a history of successfully launching new products/features in a hospital setting (EPIC, Cerner, etc.).
• You are eager to tackle new challenges and quickly acquire new skills and abilities. You thrive in an environment primed for innovation at every level: theoretical machine learning, user interface design, human-AI collaboration, etc. 
• You excel at algorithmic thinking and have fluency with at least one programming language (preferably Python) as well as beginner to intermediate SQL skills.

Reporting to the Head of Growth, you will serve as the primary executive owner for health systems adopting applied AI infrastructure - responsible for renewal, expansion, strategic alignment, and outcomes.

In this role, you will lead the design and implementation of key parts of our platform. This role can be hybrid (2-3 days per week in office) in either our Boston or NYC office.

Job Description

We’re hiring an experienced product-minded full stack engineer to join our team. In this role, you will own the end to end development of new features and product experiences to supercharge Layer Health’s internal and customer facing applications.

You can expect to:

• Design, build, and maintain scalable and performant APIs and web applications.
• Speak with customers to understand their needs and design solutions to address them.
• Collaborate on a cross-functional team to design and ship new product features/experiences.

We look for:

• 7+ years of experience in full stack software development, with the ability and flexibility to traverse the stack when necessary.
• Fluency in Typescript, React, and other modern web technologies (we use React).
• Fluency in one or more backend languages (we use Python).
• A strong communicator who thrives in a customer-focused, fast-paced environment. 
• A proactive problem-solver with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently.

We’re hiring an exceptional ML Engineer to join our team (Boston or NYC office). In this role, you will design, develop, and deploy scalable ML software systems to address large-scale challenges in healthcare. You will work closely with our software engineers, research scientists, and product teams to build ML-native enterprise platforms, ensuring scalability, efficiency, and reliability.

• Translate start-of-the-art LLM research (both internally developed and from the community) into production, delivering value for our customers.

We look for:

• 5-7+ years of experience in backend and cloud platform software development, with the ability and flexibility to traverse the stack when necessary.
• Fluency in one or more backend programming languages including Python, Golang, Rust, Java (we use Python).
• Familiarity with modern ML/LLM techniques and frameworks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
• Experience in 0-to-1 development of end-to-end ML systems (design, training, inference, deployment, and monitoring; bonus if involving LLMs). - this is a bonus and not a requirement
• Experience developing and maintaining performant, scalable, and data-centric enterprise software products.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

We’re seeking an experienced EHR Integration Engineer specializing in integrating with common EHRs. The successful candidate will have significant experience using a variety of different protocols (FHIR, HL7, etc.) with leading EHRs such as EPIC and Cerner.

What you’ll do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and robust integrations between Layer Health and various EHR systems (EPIC, Cerner, PACS, Cardiovascular systems, LIS, etc.).
• Troubleshoot integration issues and provide timely resolutions to ensure uninterrupted data flow and system interoperability.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of EHR integrations.
• Create documentation to support integration processes and workflows.
• Communicate project status, issues, feedback, ideas, to various teams.
• Be proactive in communication with team members and clients.

What we look for

• 5+ years of experience as an integration engineer, software engineer, or related discipline.
• 2+ years of proven experience integrating third-party vendor projects with large EHR systems (including Epic), specifically with FHIR.
• Strong Python programming skills.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards, including FHIR, HL7v2, and SMART on FHIR.
• Proficiency in solution design principles and practices, system development methodologies, and software life cycles.
• Familiarity with diverse technical integrations, technologies, and processing environments, including cloud and SaaS technologies.
• Skilled in solving complex production issues.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate challenges and issues directly with clients.
