Role Roadmap

We’re looking for a sharp and analytical Strategic Finance Lead to help build the financial backbone of Kalshi. You’ll own forecasting, modeling, and cash management, and play a critical role in supporting investor reporting, fundraising, and cross-functional planning.

In this role, you’ll work across teams to translate complex data into clear financial insights, helping leadership make decisions that shape the future of the first regulated event-trading exchange.

We’re open to candidates with varying levels of experience. What matters most is your ability to think critically, build well, and work collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities

Modeling & Forecasting

• Build and maintain detailed financial models for budgets, forecasts, and scenario planning
• Analyze business performance and key metrics across revenue, expenses, and margins
• Partner with product, growth, and operations teams to gather inputs and validate assumptions

Investor & Fundraising Support

• Prepare materials and analyses for investor updates, board meetings, and fundraising rounds
• Translate complex financial data into clear, compelling narratives for external stakeholders

Cash Management & Planning

• Manage cash forecasting and runway analysis to ensure alignment with company growth goals
• Monitor spend against budget and identify opportunities for efficiency

Market & Competitive Analysis

• Conduct research on market trends, competitors, and comparable metrics to inform strategic decisions
• Build models to assess new market opportunities or business lines

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with internal teams to extract, clean, and interpret financial and operational data
• Support finance leadership in building scalable processes for reporting and planning

Qualifications

• Someone who feels comfortable owning and building models end-to-end, from assumptions to insights
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to turn data into action.
  Solid command of Excel / Google Sheets (SQL or BI tools a plus)
• Past experience at top investment bank or management consulting or PE firm is preferred
• Clear communicator who can collaborate across technical, operational, and leadership teams
• A self-starter with curiosity, structure, and a builder’s mindset - you like creating systems that actually work
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability

Salary Range: $140,000 to $200,000 annually plus equity and benefits. This salary range is based on the current available market data, and represents the expected salary range for this role. Kalshi has minimal hierarchy and few titles, but has broad ranges of experience represented within roles. Role Roadmap

We’re looking for a seasoned, detail-oriented Technical Accountant to serve as a trusted expert on complex accounting issues and emerging business initiatives. You’ll lead the Company’s interpretation and application of U.S. GAAP, partner cross-functionally on high-impact projects, and ensure technical conclusions are accurate, well-reasoned, and thoroughly documented. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of accounting, strategy, and regulatory evolution, and who’s passionate about shaping accounting policy in a fast-growing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting Leadership

• Lead the accounting evaluation for complex and emerging business initiatives, collaborating across teams to identify, assess, and resolve technical issues

• Develop well-supported conclusions and high-quality technical memos that stand up to audit and regulatory scrutiny

• Serve as a primary liaison with external auditors on technical matters, ensuring transparency and constructive dialogue

Accounting Standards & Policy

• Monitor and interpret new accounting guidance from the FASB and other standard-setting bodies, evaluating potential impacts on financial statements

• Lead implementation efforts for new standards and ensure consistent application across teams

• Develop, document, and maintain company-wide accounting policies, updating them as business operations and regulations evolve

Cross-Functional Partnership & Projects

• Partner with Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Operations to ensure accounting considerations are integrated into business decisions

• Support strategic initiatives and special projects, proactively identifying and addressing accounting implications.

• Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, documentation, and internal controls

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and active CPA (or equivalent certification)

• 5+ years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or technical accounting roles

• Strong preference for experience in financial exchanges, clearing organizations, broker-dealers/FCMs, fintech, or high-growth technology environments

• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ability to interpret, apply, and communicate evolving guidance across varied topics

• Proven success influencing cross-functional teams and driving alignment across Accounting, Legal, Finance, and Compliance

• Analytical, structured thinker with exceptional attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills

• A lifelong learner passionate about technical accounting, regulatory change, and continuous improvement

What Is Kalshi

Kalshi is the first and only federally regulated exchange where people can trade on any event. Think like the NYSE, but instead of trading stocks, you trade on the events you know and care about. After three years of regulatory struggle, Kalshi's historic regulatory approval from the CFTC has allowed it to launch a new asset class: event contracts. Event contracts, the fastest-growing asset class today, are elegant financial instruments structured as simple yes/no questions about the future. 

In 2024, Kalshi Klear was approved as a Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO) and now manages all clearing activity for its exchange members.

Role Roadmap

In the Financial Operations role, you will be an early member of Kalshi's Finance team. We cater to retail customers, market makers and hedge funds, and institutional traders. The Financial Operations team is responsible for ensuring the money flowing in and out of the Exchange, the Clearing Org and its connected systems is all accounted for.

• Transaction Monitoring: Oversee a high volume of financial transactions, tracking money inflows and outflows from various sources.
• Daily Snapshot: Generate daily reports to provide a snapshot of financial activity, ensuring accuracy and operational efficiency.
• Operational Excellence: Continuously monitor and optimize financial processes to guarantee smooth operations and adherence to financial regulations.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement. Provide valuable insights to support decision-making.
• Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with financial regulations and industry standards. Stay updated on changes in financial regulations that may impact our operations.
• Collaboration: Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align financial goals and achieve operational excellence.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
• Ideally 3+ years of experience post grad. 
• Proven experience in a financial exchange, clearing organization or payment processing company with a high transaction volume.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
• Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance standards. Those specific to financial exchanges, clearing organizations and FCMs are a plus.
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools. NetSuite experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Entrepreneurial spirit paired with a team mindset.
