Position Overview

Johnson Law Group is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our Chicago office in support of our Personal Injury Auto Accidents practice. This role involves managing litigation matters from intake through trial, preparing legal documents, and ensuring compliance with procedural requirements and deadlines. Based on experience and qualifications, this position may be considered at a Senior Litigation Paralegal level.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, motions, and settlement documents for attorney review
• Organize, review, and summarize medical records, police reports, and accident-related documentation
• Coordinate with clients, medical providers, expert witnesses, and opposing counsel
• Conduct legal and factual research to support case development and litigation strategy
• Assist with deposition, mediation, and trial preparation, including exhibits, witness files, and trial binders
• Track and manage litigation deadlines in accordance with Illinois civil procedure and local court rules
• Maintain accurate, well-organized case files within the firm’s case management system
• Provide compassionate, professional communication to clients throughout the litigation process

Required Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree
• Minimum of 3 years of litigation paralegal experience in personal injury (auto accident experience strongly preferred)
• Strong working knowledge of Illinois civil procedure and electronic filing systems
• Excellent organizational, writing, and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal case management software
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English

Compensation & Classification

• Hourly, non-exempt position
• Eligible for overtime in accordance with applicable Illinois and federal wage and hour laws

This role is responsible for managing pre-trial case workflows, supporting litigation preparation, maintaining client communication, and assisting with administrative functions to ensure efficient office operations. Key Responsibilities

• Assist with pre-trial case management, ensuring deadlines and procedural requirements are met
• Draft complaints, motions, discovery documents (including Plaintiff Profile forms), and e-file in state and federal courts
• Conduct legal research and file cases in Illinois state jurisdictions
• Review and analyze medical records to assess claims and identify key case details
• Maintain consistent communication with clients, providing updates and guidance throughout the case lifecycle
• Accurately document case progress and audit files to ensure matters remain on track
• Maintain detailed and organized records within the firm’s case management system
• Provide administrative and operational support for the Chicago office, including file organization, coordination with courts or vendors, and internal workflow tracking

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience in Personal Injury (plaintiff-side preferred)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a structured, team-based environment

• Conduct legal research and factual analysis related to personal injury matters
• Communicate regularly with clients, medical providers, experts, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel
• Take and defend depositions and participate in mediations and hearings
• Negotiate settlements and advocate for favorable resolutions on behalf of clients
• Prepare cases for trial and represent clients in court as required
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the firm’s case management system

Required Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
• Active and good standing membership with the Illinois State Bar
• Minimum of 5 to 7 years of personal injury litigation experience (plaintiff-side preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively
• Commitment to client service and professional excellence
