As we continue to grow and advance our technological capabilities, we are seeking a talented and dedicated Field Service Engineer to join our team in US. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance and support (remote and on site) to our SNSPD (Superconducting Nanowire Single Photon Detector) systems’ customers, and ensuring their inquiries and issues are addressed promptly and effectively. As this product embeds a lot of different technologies (cryogenics, high vacuum, RF electronic, optical, PLC software, high-level software, network, etc.), this position requires a broad technical expertise, in addition to good communication skills and customer-centered approach.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries and technical support requests, specifically on our cryogenic single photon detectors.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues reported by customers, providing timely and accurate solutions.
- Handle product training and installation, as well as guidance to customer, remotely or on customer site.
- Collaborate with internal teams including R&D, Test and Manufacturing department, to escalate and resolve complex customer issues.
- Document customer interactions, including issues reported and solutions provided.
- Continuously improve customer support processes and procedures to enhance the overall customer experience.
- Assist in the development of support documentation, FAQs, and knowledge base articles to help customers troubleshoot common issues independently.
- Stay up to date on product features, updates, and industry trends to better assist customers and provide proactive support.
You’d be a good fit with:
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in Physics, Engineering Physics, Electrical Engineering or similar
- A demonstrated interest and experience in deploying precise and cutting-edge physics/optical instruments will be a plus
- Deep hands-on experience in at least three of the following: Cryogenics, (High Vacuum), Optical Metrology, RF Electronics, PLC Programming, or Network Architecture.
- A proven track record of troubleshooting complex, multi-disciplinary systems where hardware and software intersect.
- Ability to translate complex technical "hows" into clear "whys" for diverse stakeholders.
- Valid driver’s license and a willingness to travel for global on-site installations and high-level support.
- A self-starting mindset with the patience to navigate high-pressure technical roadblocks and the agility to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced team.

- Experience managing end-to-end installations or complex site surveys independently in international or sensitive environments.

- Proficiency in specific industry tools (e.g., LabVIEW, Python for automation, or advanced CAD viewers) that speed up the diagnostic process.

The Role:
We are looking for a Fabrication Research Scientist. As a Fabrication Research Scientist, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
In this role, you will design, fabricate, and test optical circuits for optical interfaces to qubits. You will develop integration techniques for combining optical and electronic devices that optimize for system level performance. You will lead efforts to fabricate and test these devices at foundry scale.
Responsibilities:
- Work with architecture teams to turn system level specifications into component level specifications and design rules
- Design optical circuits taking into account target performance, fabrication capabilities, and interactions with other components
- Fabricate test devices in a user facility
- Build relationships with external vendors to scale up fabrication and testing
- Partner with internal test and measurement teams to ensure devices meet target specifications
Requirements:
- 5 + years of experience fabricating optical or quantum devices
- A PhD in electrical engineering, physics, or a related field
- Experience leading cross disciplinary teams within large projects

We are looking for a Lead Solutions Architect - Quantum Memories. As a Solutions Architect, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
The IonQ quantum memories team is looking to augment our technical sales and strategy function to develop and support GTM pushes for the advanced technologies we are building, as well as support development and planning of our internal technical roadmap. Responsibilities:
- Create go-to-market assets outlining the unique capabilities of IonQ's integrated quantum networking, sensing, and compute systems; collaborate with sales team to help move customers through the sales funnel
- Engage cross functionality with IonQ technical teams to understand and communicate the value of IonQ's integrated quantum hardware stack; lead discussions with customers to explore potential technology use-cases and technology fit
- Work cross-functionally with technical and program management teams to ensure alignment with customer goals
- Provide strategic feedback on customer perspectives and desires to shape future tech roadmap planning
- This is a non-commission technical sales role.
You’d be a good fit with:
- 5+ years of professional experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- PhD in physical sciences. Candidates must have a solid understanding of the fundamentals of quantum physics, but a quantum science background is not required.
- 2+ years of experience in an industry setting, incl. 1+ years with external-facing responsibilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
- Project and stakeholder management experience across internal and external parties
You’d be a great fit with:
- Experience in management consulting, venture capital, technical sales, or similar contexts

We are looking for a Senior Research Scientist for quantum memory development. As a Senior Research Scientist, you’ll lead part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
In this role, you will do pioneering work in quantum memories for long-range quantum networks and modular quantum computing. You will work with a world-class team of scientists and engineers to build systems that can rapidly process and store quantum information from photons and apply those systems to building scalable quantum computing systems. Your work will stretch from pioneering systems to operationalizing and scaling quantum memory systems that will be the backbone of the world’s largest quantum computers.
Responsibilities:
- Design and test control sequences for quantum memories with high efficiency and fidelity
- Coordinate with photonic design and fabrication teams to produce high performance nanophotonic devices
- Optimize low-duty cycle tune-up routines to keep quantum memory systems running with high up time
- Continuously improve repetition rate, efficiency, and fidelity of quantum memories
- Interface with RF and optical engineers to scale the control and qubit routing systems for a large scale optical-interconnect architecture

- PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering
- Work in quantum optics and microwave control of qubits (ideally spin qubits in diamond)

We are looking for a Senior Physicist for optical signal chain development. As a Senior Physicist, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
In this role, you will do pioneering work on optical signal chains for long-range quantum networks and modular quantum computing. You will work with a world-class team of scientists and engineers to build systems that can rapidly process and store quantum information from photons and apply those systems to building scalable quantum computing systems. Your work will stretch from pioneering systems to operationalizing and scaling optical signal chains that will be the backbone of the world’s largest quantum computers.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate how pieces of the optical signal chain can be hardened for autonomous operation and production
- Investigate the feasibility in prototype experiments and develop routines that calibrate and maintain the optical setup.
- Benchmarking different variations of the signal chain against each other by comparing signal losses (impacting the rate) with stability (possibly impacting both rate and fidelity) and scalability;
- Coordinate with other teams internally at IonQ and/or with external vendors to develop subcomponents.
You’d be a good fit with:
- PhD in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering
- Work in quantum optics and quantum computing (ideally previous work with single photons)
- Experience designing and testing complex opto-mechanical and opto-electronical setups (including using acousto-optical and electro-optical modulators for intensity and frequency feedback loops)
- Experience in developing automated routines (hardware & software) that calibrate and maintain setups autonomously
You’d be a great fit with:
- Experience in optically-mediated entanglement protocols between qubits

The Role:
We are looking for a Staff Engineer, Foundry Management. As a Staff Engineer, you’ll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world’s best quantum computers to solve the world’s most complex problems.
In this role, you will oversee the transition of leading nanofabrication technologies from small scale fabrication to foundry scale mass production. You will work closely with research scientists, engineers, and product managers to prepare existing fabrication workflows for transition to foundries, establish relationships with mass production partners, and ensure production of devices meets required timelines and specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Manage relationships with foundries and large scale production partners for cutting edge device platforms
- Select optimal development and production partners based on device and technology platform needs
- Work with research scientists to optimize existing process flows for foundry scale integration
- Partner with product teams to ensure production timelines match target product specifications and volumes
- Transition technology and IP from research developments within IonQ to external production partners
- Propose new techniques for large scale production of quantum devices
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in managing fabrication and device production
- Experience transitioning or developing new technologies for foundry scale production
- Deep understanding of fabrication and device physics principles including photonic, electronic, and mems devices
- The ability to synthesize complex device performance and production requirements into a device production plan
- Ability to effectively communicate and form consensus with external and internal stakeholders through documents and presentations
