The Senior Tax Manager’s primary focus is the preparation and completion of Lush's US tax returns. In this position, you will also play an essential role in growing talent by leading the structuring and planning for all aspects of taxation. This includes corporate income taxes, sales and use taxes, transfer pricing and duties for Lush North America. 

As the Senior Tax Manager, you will partner with business operations to ensure that the tax structure meets changing business needs, monitor compliance activities and manage all tax authority audits. You will identify challenges and opportunities and create step plans to resolve, utilizing outside expertise when necessary. You will also partner with the Global Head of Tax on North America tax reporting and as updates are needed to transfer pricing.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, the Senior Tax Manager's core RESPONSIBILITIES will include:

Income Tax Compliance

• Oversee US income tax returns including Federal and State income tax as well as routine submissions such as 1042 and FBAR
• Oversee tax compliance, reporting and related filings (including SR&ED, NR4, T5 etc.) across Canada and Puerto Rico utilizing external advisors as needed
• Oversee tax installments to ensure appropriate compliance with legislative requirements
• Act as the point of contact and support for tax compliance matters across North America

Tax Audits

• Oversee audit management of income tax, sales tax and duties audits in a proactive and strategic manner

Sales Tax

• Oversee sales/sales and use tax compliance in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico
• Develop and maintain a current and appropriate tax operating model 
• Ensure timely and accurate filing of all US, Canadian and Puerto Rican GST and Sales and Use tax returns

Transfer Pricing

• Review existing policies and assist the business to adjust transfer pricing strategies and structures as needed that reflect any changing business operations
• Effectively utilize outside support if needed
• Manage the preparation of any necessary transfer pricing documentation

Tax Accounting

• Oversee book tax calculations, estimates and accruals
• Oversee monthly management reporting and budgeting
• Oversee current and deferred tax provisions 
• Oversee the North America tax reporting to the parent company in the UK

Other Duties

• Lead a tax team with two direct reports and provide support and mentorship, coaching and developing them through fearless leadership
• Stay up to date with changes in tax rulings and relevant trends and make recommendations as needed
• Partner with the business operations teams to develop and implement strategies for optimizing Trade Agreements and duty drawbacks.  
• Establish appropriate systems or processes to identify and manage tax compliance risk
• Partner with the business operations teams to deliver efficient and effective tax support to strategic business initiatives and provide practical solutions
• Prepare and develop tax structures, policies and processes
• Manage external tax consultants as required

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

• Qualified CPA, US CPA or equivalent
• 7+ years of hands on tax experience in public accounting firm or large corporate environment 
• Strong analytical and technical skills to understand financial information necessary to prepare corporate tax filings and the ability to identify and research tax issues;
• 2 – 4 years specific US tax return preparation and filing experience
• Proven knowledge and experience of international tax regulations and procedures
• Outstanding interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Independent worker who is proactive and can work well with minimal supervision
• Accustomed to and ability to deliver results within a highly seasonal, high pressure production environment
• Self-motivated, accountable and results oriented
• Able to travel domestically and internationally

Preferred: 

• Experience working in a retail or in-house environment is a plus 
• Experience implementing accounting and tax software and advising on the impacts on tax reporting

Reporting to the Retail Finance Business Partner, the Senior Financial Analyst - Retail undertakes the following RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead month-end variance analysis for Retail, providing insights on financial performance and key underlying drivers, changes against the plan, and upcoming opportunities and risks.
• Support quarterly shop forecasting and budget setting.
• Support Retail Finance business partner in meetings and escalate where needed.
• Provide support for any ad-hoc analysis projects, modelling, and presentation materials to support requests from the retail business
• Translate complex data into compelling narratives, clearly communicating trends, insights, and actionable impacts to guide strategic decision-making.
• Lead monthly financial reforecasting and annual budgeting processes, including the development, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of forecasting models to ensure accurate financial plans.
• Support the automation and enhancement of financial & reporting systems by partnering with the BI team to build dashboards 
• Streamline reporting process to meet needs of both external and internal users
• Project work involvement where required to support ad hoc requests from retail business

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required: 

• 5+ years of related experience in FP&A 
• 5+ years of well-rounded finance experience, including a strong accounting background and an overarching understanding of P&L dynamics
• Experience working with the retail industry.
• Proven ability to strong relationships with key stakeholders, influencing them by communicating complex financial concepts in a way that they can easily comprehend 
• Extensive prior experience with P&L (profit and loss statement) management, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis

The Senior Treasury Manager, North America is responsible for leading the day-to-day treasury activities for the North American business, with a focus on liquidity management, cash flow forecasting, banking, debt funding, foreign exchange exposure & hedge mitigation, covenant compliance and treasury controls.

This role centralizes treasury responsibilities that have historically been spread across multiple accounting roles and provides dedicated ownership over a critical risk area for the business. The Treasury Manager will work closely with Accounting, FP&A, Group Treasury (based in UK), and external banking partners to ensure the business has appropriate visibility over cash, adequate liquidity, strong treasury controls, and disciplined execution of treasury activities.

This role undertakes the following RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own daily and weekly visibility into North America cash positions, liquidity needs, and short-term funding requirements across Canada and the U.S.
• Lead the short-term cash flow forecasting process in partnership with FP&A, Accounting, and operational stakeholders, including identifying risks, pressure points, and funding requirements.
• Manage treasury operations related to cash concentration, intercompany funding, and movement of funds across the business, as appropriate.
• Monitor foreign exchange exposures and support the execution and administration of the North American hedging program in partnership with Group Treasury and banking partners.
• Maintain treasury documentation including hedge logs, confirmations, settlement support, and related control documentation.
• Support disciplined execution and control over FX and hedge-related activity, including timely follow-up, review, and escalation where needed.
• Manage banking relationships and support the ongoing optimization of banking structures, bank accounts, and treasury services.
• Review and approve treasury-related payments, including wires, ACH, and EFT transactions, in line with approval authorities and internal controls.
• Support cash reconciliations and monthly bank reconciliations, including identifying trends, breaks, and opportunities for process improvement.
• Partner with the Accounting team on month-end close activities related to cash, debt, intercompany funding, and treasury-related balance sheet accounts.
• Lead annual credit facility negotiations and ongoing banking relationships.
• Monitor debt covenant compliance and prepare quarterly and annual compliance reporting packages for lenders and other stakeholders, as required.
• Support the preparation of treasury-related reporting, analysis, and materials for leadership, lenders, auditors, and other internal stakeholders.
• Identify and implement improvements to treasury processes, controls, and reporting, with a focus on reducing risk, increasing clarity of ownership, and improving efficiency.
• Establish and maintain clear treasury procedures and documentation to support a stronger and more scalable control environment.
• Provide leadership across treasury workstreams and help coordinate the efforts of team members supporting cash, banking, and treasury-related activities.

You bring the following QUALIFICATIONS:

• CFA, CPA or CTP designation, or equivalent finance/accounting qualification.
• 8-12+ years of relevant experience in treasury, cash management, financial accounting, or a related finance function.
• Strong experience in cash flow forecasting, liquidity management, banking, and treasury operations.
• Experience with foreign exchange exposure management, hedging administration, or treasury risk management.
• Strong understanding of internal controls and financial risk management in a multi-entity environment.
• Experience preparing or supporting debt covenant reporting and lender compliance packages is an asset.
• Experience working in a complex, multi-location business across Canada and the U.S. is preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and comfort working with large volumes of data and reconciliations.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, and banking platforms
• Strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability.
• Able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and competing deadlines.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across Finance and the wider business.
