About the Role
Hopscotch takes a team approach to serve patient needs and provide the best care possible. Our goal is to provide the care each of us would want for ourselves or for our family members, in the right setting and at the right time. The Hopscotch Care Team is responsible for delivering high-touch, high-quality care to patients, including coordination of care across different physicians and within the healthcare system.
As a Medical Assistant, you will play a critical role on the Care team for Hopscotch to serve our patients, enable patient outcomes and create a positive patient experience. As part of the Care team, this professional will be one of the first individuals to engage the patients during a clinic visit and will work across the team to communicate, identify patient needs and execute on care plans to ensure patient care is delivered.
This is a full-time role is based at our Spindale location.
Compensation range for this position is between $18 - $24 per hour depending on clinic location and candidate experience/qualifications.

What You'll Do
As a Certified Medical Assistant, you will provide support to the physician and care team as well as the patient to enable positive patient outcomes and a positive patient experience by end-to-end preparation for physician visit and more broadly. Specific responsibilities for this role will include, but are not limited to:
- Engage patients prior to provider visit, prepare and set expectations
- Plan for any necessary services or steps required in the clinic (e.g. flu vaccine, blood draw)
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, safe, and ready for patient visits
- Ensure efficient patient flow by preparing for the visit, rooming patients in a timely manner, getting necessary information, and assisting the provider with staying timely on their schedule
- Obtain vital signs, patient status and needs, and review medications
- Collects phlebotomy and other lab specimens; performs basic waived lab tests.
- Deliver patient screenings per protocols and assists physician as needed
- Provide patient care in line with training, certification and regulations (e.g. vaccine administration)
- Catalogs and communicates patient needs to the PCP and broader Care team
- Supports other diagnostic and care needs for the patient, in collaboration with Care team
- As directed and in line with certification, supports pharmacy medication dispensing
- Schedule diagnostic testing
- Apply or assist with application for Durable Medical Equipment (DME)
You will also collaborate with the Care team and provide support to patients, as needed, outside of the provider visit including:
- Provide telephonic support to patients, in line with protocols and physician direction
- Participate in care team meetings to discuss patient care and clinical operations
The role also requires support maintenance of the clinic, including equipment and facility upkeep including:
- Order supplies and stock exam rooms
- Conduct routine quality control checks, including infection control measures, equipment QAs, and check for expired medication and supplies
About You
You would be a great fit for this position if you have:
- A high school diploma or equivalent education (GED)
- Graduated from a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e. foreign-trained physician, paramedic, etc.)
- A minimum of 1 year of work experience in the healthcare industry, preferably as a Medical Assistant, Patient Care Technician or similar in a hospital, medical clinic or comparable environment OR documented clinical rotation training can be substituted for work experience
- Certification in BLS (including CPR)
- Experience with an EMR and similar technology
- EMR experience and proficiency required
- Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician (preferred)
- US work authorization

What You'll Do
As the Medical Director, you will provide day-to-day leadership for the clinic teams and deliver high-quality care, an exceptional patient experience and a best-in-class culture, acting as a Champion of the Hopscotch Care Model and a Culture advocate for your team and your patients. Specifically, you will:
- Provide leadership, oversight and support for the team to drive day-to-day execution against critical priorities to enable high-quality care, a great patient experience, engagement across the team and a best-in-class culture
- Set the curve for Care team and across Care Centers through clear understanding and execution to deliver care in the Hopscotch care model, a commitment to results, quality and excellence and by executing against key workflows and processes to enable the model
- Management of Providers including ensuring all Providers complete administrative tasks and utilize indirect care hours appropriately, managing their panels and completing documentation
- Partner with the Care Center Manager to outperform against target metrics and outcomes, including patient experience, STARS/HEDIS, care coordination, utilization and cost of care, through collaboration and engagement of your clinical care team
- Provide high-quality patient care in the comprehensive and interdisciplinary care model of Hopscotch health to deliver best-in-class outcomes and results for your dedicated patient panel
- Provide direct oversight of your clinical care team, including Hopscotch Advanced Practitioner, Medical Assistant, Care Manager, Community Health Worker and others
- Support the Hopscotch mission and vision through your leadership around talent and culture, clinical innovation and compliance/best practices to enable success
- Represent Hopscotch Health in the community and provides community-based education, engagement, and participation in events such as health fairs/conferences
About You
You’ll be a great fit for this position if you have 5+ years of post-Residency experience and have experience in managing teams. You must be Board Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, have an active, non-probationary North Carolina state medical license (or willingness to obtain), and be authorized to work in the US. An ideal candidate will also have:
- Familiarity with innovative clinical models, specifically those that serve high acuity members
- Experience with the Medicare population, including in-home care as well as documentation and compliance requirements
- Experience caring for “at-risk” panel of patients
- Experience using data and insights to drive action in a clinical setting
- Experience leading, teaching, and training others, in both formal and informal ways
You also have a proven track record demonstrating:

What You'll Do
Patient Experience & Front Office Operations
- Serve as the first point of contact for patients, creating a warm and welcoming environment
- Greet, check in, and check out patients
- Verify insurance, collect copays, and maintain accurate patient records
- Manage scheduling, including appointment coordination and patient outreach
- Answer phone calls and manage electronic communication within the EMR
- Assist patients with forms, paperwork, and general questions, including questions on insurance and bill navigation
- Coordinate patient transportation and external services as needed
- Support medical records requests and documentation processes
Clinical Support & Patient Care
- Engage patients prior to provider visit, prepare and set expectations
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document patient information
- Review medications and patient history with accuracy
- Assist providers during visits and support timely patient flow
- Perform clinical tasks in line with training and certification (e.g., vaccines, basic lab work, phlebotomy)
- Support preventive care screenings and care gap closure
- Coordinate diagnostic testing, referrals, and durable medical equipment (DME)
- Provide patient education and follow-up support as directed
Clinic Operations & Team Support
- Ensure exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for patient care
- Monitor and maintain clinical supplies and equipment
- Support inventory management and ordering
- Participate in care team huddles and team meetings
- Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and quality standards
- Float between front office and clinical responsibilities based on daily clinic needs
