About the Role:
You will be part of a highly collaborative product team working at the core of our manufacturing facility transforming digital models into physical elements at scale.
Product Teams at GROPYUS own what they build, including underlying infrastructure, build pipelines, automated testing, release and rollout management, monitoring, and support. You will be trusted to solve problems efficiently and effectively building on top of a solid architecture and operational foundation and will be encouraged to seek out under-attended topics and assume responsibility for them both within your product area as well as across product areas.
As a Lead Engineer, you will lead two teams operating cloud software in our Product Delivery area. Your teams will be responsible for building solid integrations and abstractions for external systems like e.g. ERP systems. Furthermore, your team will be responsible for solving overarching planning and orchestrations topics. You will work closely with the other Lead & Staff Engineers, the Head of Engineering as well as Product Managers in the area to define and execute a delivery roadmap and operate the software with your team. You will be the lead for eventually 8 engineers and be responsible for their professional and career development.
With your experience in integrating systems, operating software systems, and balancing operational and feature development work you will help your team to be successful and deliver according to the company's targets.
What you'll be doing:
As a Lead Engineer (f/m/d) on the Product Delivery team, you will be responsible for:
- Leading a software development team both disciplinary as well as from delivery roadmap
- Working in a hybrid infrastructure environment (cloud and on-prem), managing complex software deployments at scale
- Strengthening the Operational mindset in Product Delivery with focus on monitoring, alerting and controlled feature rollout
- Acting as a sparring partner for Product Managers and Stakeholders in the area to manage requirements and priorities
- Being responsible for delivering features and improvements according to the roadmap and in alignment with Product Management
- Supporting your directs in professional and career development based on their strengths and weaknesses in alignment with the team’s and company’s needs
What you bring:
- You are an experienced software engineer leader with a strong background in software operations
- You possess practical experience in all key areas of modern software development, including infrastructure, observability, testing, deployment pipelines incl. quality assurance, and scaling
- You’ve operated and supported large-scale software systems in cloud and non-cloud environments (on-premise)
- You’ve worked in companies with strong operational cultures, ideally in logistics or manufacturing – understanding the commercial impact of system downtime
- Having experience in integrating external systems like ERP or logistics systems is a plus
- You have experience leading and developing engineers at various levels
- You are proficient with most of the following technologies:
- Kotlin / SpringBoot
- Kubernetes
- Linux
- PostgreSQL
- BPMN / Optimization is a plus
- Python / Bash is a plus
You bring Cloud Operations experience - Azure is a bonus
- You’re familiar with monitoring and alerting practices for production systems
- Experience with defining and working with SLAs/SLOs is a bonus
- Frequent travel within Germany for in-person team events as well visiting our manufacturing location (every 6 weeks)

What you’ll be doing:

- Designing, building, testing and operating software solutions for logistics and manufacturing use cases incl. Robots, AGVs and other (semi) automated manufacturing equipment.
- Working in a hybrid infrastructure environment (cloud and on-prem), managing complex software deployments at scale
- Bringing a Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) mindset to monitor, maintain, and improve software uptime including reliable updates, latency, and efficiency
- Acting as a bridge between digital product delivery & physical logistics and manufacturing systems, ensuring both are aligned and integrated
- Helping define, monitor and evolve SLAs/SLOs as well as other important KPIs like e.g. OEE for critical systems
What you bring:
- You are an experienced software engineer– preferably with a background in manufacturing or logistics systems, Site Reliability Engineering or software system operations
- You possess practical experience in some / all key areas of modern software development, including infrastructure, observability, testing, deployment pipelines incl. quality assurance, and scaling

Als Senior Software Engineer bist du Teil eines Teams, das für die Integration und Koordination von SPS-, Roboter- und Drittanbieter-Systemen verantwortlich ist, die Wand- und Deckenelemente fertigen. Du entwickelst Software – sowohl eigenständig als auch im Pair Programming mit deinen Teamkolleg:innen, stellst die Funktionalität durch solide Tests sicher und führst Deployments sowie Rollouts in die Live-Systeme durch. Darüber hinaus sind unsere Teams auch für den Betrieb und die Fehlerbehebung der entwickelten Software während der Arbeitszeiten im Werk verantwortlich.
Deine Aufgaben
Als Senior Software Engineer (f/m/d) im Product Delivery Team übernimmst du folgende Verantwortlichkeiten:
- Design, Entwicklung, Test und Betrieb von Softwarelösungen für Logistik- und Fertigungsanwendungen inkl. Roboter, FTS und andere (teil-)automatisierte Fertigungsanlagen
- Arbeiten in einer hybriden Infrastruktur (Cloud und On-Prem), Verwaltung komplexer Software-Deployments im großen Maßstab
- Einbringen eines Site-Reliability-Engineering- Mindsets zur Überwachung, Wartung und Verbesserung der Systemverfügbarkeit inkl. zuverlässiger Updates, Latenz und Effizienz
- Brückenfunktion zwischen digitaler Produktentwicklung und physischen Logistik- sowie Fertigungssystemen, um deren Integration sicherzustellen
- Mitwirkung bei der Definition, Überwachung und Weiterentwicklung von SLAs/SLOs sowie wichtigen KPIs wie z. B. OEE für kritische Systeme
Das bringst du mit
- Mehrjährige Erfahrung als Software Engineer – idealerweise mit Hintergrund in Fertigungs- oder Logistiksystemen, Site-Reliability-Engineering oder Software-Systembetrieb in einer Smart Factory
- Praktische Erfahrung in Schlüsselbereichen moderner Softwareentwicklung: Infrastruktur, Observability, Testing, Deployment-Pipelines inkl. Qualitätssicherung und Skalierung
- Erfahrung im Betrieb und Support von großskaligen Softwaresystemen in Cloud- und On-Prem-Umgebungen
- Arbeitserfahrung in Unternehmen mit starker operativer Kultur, idealerweise in Logistik oder Fertigung – Verständnis für die kommerziellen Auswirkungen von Systemausfällen

Du wirst Teil eines hochgradig kollaborativen Produktteams sein, das im Kern unserer Produktionsstätte arbeitet und digitale Modelle in physische Elemente im großen Maßstab überführt.

Als Senior Software Engineer (PLC / OT) arbeitest du mit deinem Team daran, die eher traditionelle Architektur von MES-ähnlichen Systemen, die über OPC-UA mit SPSen integriert sind, in eine zukunftssichere Architektur weiterzuentwickeln – basierend auf den Prinzipien der Software Defined Manufacturing. Du solltest Freude daran haben, im Laufe der Zeit weniger PLC/OT-Code zu entwickeln und stattdessen Lösungen zu gestalten, die eine vollständige Simulation kommender Produktionsaufträge ermöglichen.

As a Senior Software Engineer (PLC / OT), you will work with your team on evolving the rather traditional architecture of MES like systems integrating via OPC-UA with PLCs into a future-proof architecture built with Software Defined Manufacturing in mind. You should be looking forward to developing less PLC / OT code over time and building a solution that allows for full simulation of upcoming manufacturing orders.

What you’ll be doing:
As a Senior Software Engineer (f/m/d) on the Product Delivery team, you will be responsible for:
- Understanding and explaining the existing PLC / OT code base from our vendor to the rest of your team.
- Working together with your team and other teams in Product Delivery to evolve the current architecture into a truly Software Defined Manufacturing setup.
- Bringing an operational mindset to monitor, maintain, and improve software uptime including reliable updates, latency, and efficiency
- Acting as a bridge between digital product delivery & physical logistics and manufacturing systems, ensuring both are aligned and integrated
- Helping define, monitor and evolve SLAs/SLOs as well as other important KPIs like e.g. OEE for critical systems
What you bring:
- You are an experienced software / automation engineer with experience in PLC or other OT technologies
- You are willing and excited to adopt modern software engineering approaches like code reviews, testing, CI/CD, etc.
- You have operated and supported large-scale software / OT systems
- You have worked in companies with strong operational cultures, ideally in logistics or manufacturing – understanding the commercial impact of system downtime
- You are proficient with most of the following technologies:

You will be trusted to solve problems efficiently and effectively building on top of a solid architecture and operational foundation and will be encouraged to seek out under-attended topics and assume responsibility for them both within your product area as well as across product areas.
As a Software Engineer, you will be part of a team responsible for integrating and coordinating the PLC, Robot, and 3rd-party systems which manufacture wall and slab elements. You will write software – both alone as well as in pair with your team colleagues, ensure functionality with a solid testing approach and deploy and rollout changes to the live systems. Furthermore, our teams are also responsible for operating and troubleshooting the software they have developed during working hours at the factory.
What you’ll be doing
As a Software Engineer (f/m/d) on the Product Delivery team, you will be responsible for:
- Designing, building, testing and operating software solutions for logistics and manufacturing use cases incl. Robots, AGVs and other (semi) automated manufacturing equipment.
- Working in a hybrid infrastructure environment (cloud and on-prem), managing complex software deployments at scale
- Expanding your software operations mindset regarding monitoring, maintaining, and improving software uptime including reliable updates, latency, and efficiency
- Applying your experience in either PLC or robot programming to build the next level of flexible manufacturing solutions.
- Acting as a bridge between digital product delivery & physical logistics and manufacturing systems, ensuring both are aligned and integrated
What you bring
- You are a software engineer – preferably with a background in manufacturing or logistics systems, PLC or robot programming or software system operations
- You possess practical experience in some / all key areas of modern software development, including infrastructure, observability, testing, deployment pipelines incl. quality assurance, and scaling
