Job Summary 

We are looking for a Director of Software Architect to lead the architectural vision of the software stack for the Graphcore ML accelerator.

In this role, you lead an architecture team that will define the software architecture for Graphcore products.

You are a thought leader and an advocate for our long-term technical vision, engaging with project stakeholder, external partners and customers to ensure alignment and clarity.

You are an excellent communicator, and you proactively convey architectural decisions and changes as the product evolves.

The Team 

The software architecture team is responsible for defining, maintaining and communicating the overarching architecture of our software stack, from firmware to ML frameworks.

The team works within the wider software organisation, partnering closely with engineering teams who deliver against this architectural vision. 

Responsibilities and Duties

• Communicate the long-term technical vision & strategy for the software architecture
• Define the processes and procedures to define, agree and maintain the software architecture.
• Act as an advocate and thought leader for the long-term technical vision across the organisation.
• Advocate for the user experience to ensure that the software architecture results in a software stack that is easy to use.  
• Manage technical and project-level architectural risks. 
• Work closely with engineering, product, leadership, and partners to ensure alignment between business goals and architectural vision. 
• Inspire, grow, mentor and develop the software architecture team.
• Clearly communicate the trade off’s for architectural decisions that have company wide impacts.
• Stay informed about trends and developments in the ML/software ecosystem.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

• Proven experience in a leadership role.
• Experience of working with silicon and hardware teams.
• Technical expertise in the ML accelerator software space.
• Excellent communication skill, both written and verbal. 
• Collaborative mindset and ability to influence. 
• Pragmatic approach to decision making, being very aware of trade-offs and implications. 
• Experience in one or more of these technologies; Firmware, Drivers, ML frameworks (PyTorch, Triton, etc), Collectives, HPC, Tooling, C & C++, CPU architectures.

Desirable

Job Summary  

As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for development of new and support existing kernels for liner algebra operations on a new generation of AI hardware. 

The Team 

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding team at Graphcore. Kernel Engineering team is responsible for delivering high performance compute library to help customers gain the maximum performance from AI hardware. 

Responsibilities and Duties 

• Implement kernels for linear algebra and tensor ops (GEMM, batched GEMM, convolutions, reductions, elementwise and fused operations) in C++. 
• Profile and optimise across for next generation of AI hardware - threading, cache locality, memory layout, and kernel launch efficiency. 
• Contribute towards performance and correctness - add microbenchmarks, regression tests, numeric validation.
• Debug issues, resolve bugs and generally improve the quality and functionality of the product.
• Actively engage in and support Agile ways of working within the team.

Candidate Profile

Essential: 

• Excellent programming and scripting skills using C++ and Python.
• You thrive on solving challenging problems with creativity, think outside the box, and see the bigger picture beyond the specific software component you are working on. 
• Possess excellent written and oral communication skills, good work ethics, high sense of team-work.

Desirable:

• Strong understanding of processor architectures.
• Experience or solid understanding of algorithmic performance - vectorisation, memory hierarchy, threading, lock-free patterns, and profiling on Linux. 
• Hands-on with at least one BLAS/DNN stack and able to read/extend kernels.
• Experience integrating native code into PyTorch or similar (custom ops, extensions, dispatch keys).
• Comfort with CPU micro-optimisations and numerical stability/trade-offs across FP32/FP16/BF16.
• ABI/API stability and packaging for Linux distros, manylinux, wheels.

Job Summary 

As a member of the Modelling team you will contribute to the planning, design, implementation and testing of software implementation of the upcoming AI hardware. You will also help other teams to integrate future versions of hardware and help them to scale out distributed modelling environments. You will report to modelling team manager. 

The Team

The Modelling team forms a part of larger frameworks group – working closely with framework engineers developing Graphcore’s cutting edge AI solution. The Modelling team is also working on the integration of modelling and profiling capabilities into the ML stack. 

Responsibilities and Duties

• Supporting the design, implementation, testing and documentation of the future hardware at the highest standard using C/C++/Python programming languages
• Participate in agile development – working as part of a scrum team to develop the right software at pace
• Communicate effectively and contribute regularly to technical discussions with your peers in software and hardware engineering, with architects and other stakeholders
• Hands-on during key product development phases involving close working with framework teams to enable fast time to market delivery

Candidate Profile 

Essential:

• Bachelor or Master's degree in Computer Science, Maths, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related field
• Good C++ knowledge
• Good understanding of lower-level software stack and interactions with the hardware layer
• Possess effective problem-solving skills, familiar with a full suite of debug and performance analysis tools and techniques
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, work well within a multinational team and with multinational customers. Excellent cultural awareness is essential.

Desirable:

• Previous hardware simulation or modelling experience.

As a Graduate Engineer in the Analysis Tools Team you will work as part of a team developing profiling tools to help users optimise their applications on Graphcore hardware

The Team

The Analysis Tools team builds profiling tools to help users optimise their applications for Graphcore hardware. The team is responsible for collecting profiling information from the hardware and software, processing the profiling data and presenting it to the user via libraries, command line tools and graphical applications.

• Design, development and testing of features for profiling.
• Fixing bugs and supporting customers.
• Knowledge sharing and collaborating with other engineers in the team.

Candidate Profile

Essential:

• Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Maths, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related field
• Experience in developing web applications using TypeScript and modern frameworks (ideally React).

We are looking for a Graduate Software Engineer to join a team pioneering the development of high-performance machine learning (ML) kernels for a new generation of AI hardware. 

In this role, you will contribute to building optimised compute kernels that support a wide range of ML operators—powering applications from convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to large language models (LLMs). 

You'll leverage low-level programming and hardware-aware optimisation techniques to extract maximum performance and efficiency from modern accelerators. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of ML, numerical computing, and scalable systems.
