• Partner with COO to refresh roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities and how they are split between country directors and global shared services departments
• Lead an ops & finance working group to to identify and test step-change efficiency improvement at scale (using budget & process data, then piloting changes)
• Launch a new country office in a crisis-prone region in 3 months
• Systematize contracting approval processes to cut cycle time  by 2x while maintaining compliance & auditability.

About this role

GiveDirectly is scaling its emergency response operations to reach more people, faster, with cash in the wake of crises. As a Manager on the Humanitarian team, you will play a critical role in supporting the design and delivery of rapid cash responses globally. You’ll coordinate program implementation, manage day-to-day operations, and contribute to fundraising efforts by documenting field insights and preparing donor materials.

Managers are expected to:

What you’ll do:

Design and implement high-quality programming:

• Coordinate design, planning, and execution of emergency response operations, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
• Apply operational playbooks and deployment criteria to rapidly set up response programs across a growing number of countries.
• Conduct operational diligence, feasibility, and risk assessments for individual disaster responses, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and context realities.
• Track and report on program metrics to support learning and performance management.

Qualifications

About this role

GiveDirectly has established a Product team responsible for identifying new program areas for exploration and implementation, as well as deepening our impact in existing program areas. Products at GiveDirectly are double-sided - serving the needs of our recipients on one side, and donors on the other - and include large technology components as well as the careful design of in-person operations. They range from our flagship large lump sum cash work to highly targeted support for specific populations or locations; the Product team works across fundraising, program implementation, and Research and Technology to build end-to-end programs and bring them to market. Building on recent evidence that large, unconditional cash transfers can significantly reduce infant mortality, GiveDirectly is building a “Mothers & Babies” product that provides large cash transfers to expectant mothers to improve maternal and newborn outcomes. The demands on this product are two-sided: it must deliver a high-quality, dignified experience for recipients and build durable donor conviction that this is a top-tier use of philanthropic and (eventually) public funds.

This role will lead the end-to-end product strategy and execution across multiple countries and partnerships, assembling and driving a cross-functional team spanning Programs, Research/M&E, Partnerships, and Safeguarding. You’ll set the learning agenda, pressure-test and iterate on program design, and translate evidence and delivery performance into a compelling case and readiness for scale. 

What success looks like

By the end of 2026, we can credibly say “this works and we can scale it,” backed by:

• Impact validation: a clear, defensible impact story with leading indicators (and a credible path to rigorous evaluation where needed)
• Delivery validation: operational clarity on targeting and verification; reliable, on-time payment delivery; a playbook for partnerships with health organizations that works across contexts
• Donor validation: strong donor interest and commitments, ideally from both HNW and institutional funders, with a robust pipeline and clear “requirements” for scale (e.g. what it would take for donors to fund at scale)

What you'll do:

Set strategy, define the hypotheses, and drive focus

• Own the product vision and multi-year strategy, translating it into annual and quarterly goals and clear “go/no-go” decision points.
• Define and maintain the core “hypotheses” that ground GiveDirectly’s investment in this product (impact/value, feasibility/delivery, and growth/fundability), including what evidence would change our confidence.
• Build a crisp roadmap that separates (a) what must be proven, (b) what must be built, and (c) what must be scaled—then ruthlessly prioritize to match the year’s goal.

Design and iterate on program model and recipient experience

• Lead program design choices (e.g., transfer size, timing/cadence, etc), grounded in evidence and operational realities.
• Ensure the program meets a high bar for recipient dignity, safeguarding, consent, and clarity - especially given the sensitivity of pregnancy and newborn outcomes.
• Partner closely with programs teams to identify where reality diverges from our plans, diagnose root causes, and implement adaptations quickly and thoughtfully.

Build scalable delivery and partnership models

• Identify, evaluate, and manage partners critical to targeting and outcomes (e.g., community health NGOs, health facilities, government health systems, digital maternal health platforms).
• Define the operating model: what GiveDirectly must do vs. what partners can do better (and cheaper), and how responsibilities, incentives, data flows, and accountability work.
• Develop playbooks for recipient targeting/verification, enrollment of pregnant women, payment timing, troubleshooting, and issue escalation—then standardize across countries where appropriate.
• Define the tech needs for delivery and scale (e.g., digital identification/enrollment pathways, system integrations with health registries where feasible, 2-way messaging for consent/verification, automation to reduce delays/failures).

Drive the learning agenda and evidence narrative

• Set the measurement strategy and learning agenda: leading indicators, qualitative insight loops, and (where appropriate) the path to rigorous evaluation.
• Work with research/MEAL to ensure we’re collecting the “decision-grade” evidence we need (not just reporting metrics), including how findings translate into product decisions.
• Package evidence into a narrative that is legible and persuasive to donors, partners, and policy stakeholders—without overselling or handwaving uncertainty.

Support fundraising and go-to-market

• Build the product’s “go-to-market” posture: positioning, target donor segments, proof points, and the pitch narrative that unlocks scale.

About this Role

GiveDirectly’s Fundraising team is responsible for unlocking significant, sustained funding to scale direct cash transfers globally. As we scale, our fundraising systems must become increasingly rigorous, automated, and compounding. Today, many of our core fundraising metrics and analyses require manual effort; this role will help transform that reality.

We are hiring a Senior Manager, Data (Fundraising & Marketing) to serve as the primary strategic data partner to our fundraising and marketing teams. You will combine deep fundraising context with strong technical expertise to define the right questions, establish durable source-of-truth metrics, and build leveraged data products that reduce ad hoc work over time. You will function as a senior individual contributor with significant scope and autonomy.

You will directly own significant data modeling and transformation work within the data lakehouse. You will be responsible for building the curated data models that power reporting, forecasting, and decision-making. Our data infrastructure is built on AWS and Databricks, with dashboards and visualizations in Tableau. You will primarily use SQL to query data and contribute to data pipelines, and Python notebooks for deeper analysis. 

This is a full-time, globally remote position with travel 2–3 times per year for team retreats or planning sessions.

Core Responsibilities

Data Product and Metrics Ownership

• Set vision and priorities for how data supports fundraising and marketing strategy, based on a deep understanding of GiveDirectly’s fundraising model, donor lifecycle, and growth strategy, across revenue streams
• Define, standardize, and document core fundraising and marketing KPIs (e.g., retention, LTV, revenue forecasting metrics) to drive fundraising goals 
• Design and build robust data models in the warehouse that serve as the source of truth for fundraising reporting - weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually
• Establish clear, trusted source-of-truth datasets and metric logic used consistently across Fundraising, Finance, and Leadership, continually folding learnings in to update the metrics and definitions
• Identify recurring analytical needs and convert them into scalable, automated data products
• Scope and prioritize fundraising data products in partnership with Fundraising and Marketing Data stakeholders
• Partner with data engineering on upstream data quality and pipeline improvements, while owning the downstream analytical layer
• Continuously reduce ad hoc reporting by investing in durable systems that compound in value over time

Strategic Fundraising and Marketing Analytics

• Serve as the primary data partner to fundraising and marketing leadership, informing strategy across acquisition, retention, and revenue expansion

• Translate complex analyses into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders that drive fundraising improvements
• Surface high-leverage opportunities to improve conversion, retention, and revenue durability

Data Infrastructure & Platform Contribution

• Collaborate with data engineers and analytics peers to improve data quality, access, and trust
• Partner with the Salesforce Lead to ensure CRM data structure and integrity support accurate reporting and scalable downstream modeling
• Contribute to the long-term roadmap for fundraising data architecture, ensuring systems are designed for scalability and compounding insight generation over time

About this role

GiveDirectly is seeking a strategic, highly analytical Director of Individual Giving to lead and scale revenue from individual donors (<$50K lifetime giving). 

Individual giving is a core growth priority for GiveDirectly. A broad base of recurring supporters — and the ability to rapidly mobilize donors during emergency responses — is central to achieving our mission of ending extreme poverty and responding to people in crisis through direct cash transfers. 

In 2025 this segment of donors gave $46m, representing 34% YoY growth from 2024. Your job will be to accelerate that growth, while also growing our bequests/legacy program from zero.

This role reports to the VP, Revenue & Partnerships and manages a small team (currently 2 Growth Managers), with immediate scope to hire a dedicated Bequests/Legacy Lead. The Director owns the full individual donor revenue lifecycle: acquisition, conversion, recurring giving, retention, upgrades, legacy giving, and overall donor lifetime value.  

Individual giving is currently concentrated in the U.S. Over time, and once core growth priorities are on a strong trajectory, this role will help assess and scope opportunities for expansion into additional geographies.

What we’re looking for

• 8+ years of experience in digital fundraising, growth, ecommerce, or product-led revenue roles, with clear accountability for acquisition and retention performance.

• Improve donor experience and lifecycle performance: Optimize the end-to-end donation experience — including landing pages, forms, checkout, payment options, and upgrade flows — in partnership with Engineering and Product. Own lifecycle communications across web, email, and SMS, ensuring strong segmentation, tracking, and performance dashboards.
• Lead for execution and future expansion: Manage and develop Growth Managers with clear goals and operating cadence. Oversee third-party and international donation partners. Once core growth and legacy initiatives are established, assess and scope geographic expansion opportunities in a disciplined, data-driven way.

About this role

The Senior Manager, Cash & Coaching will own GiveDirectly’s Cash + Coaching initiative — a high-priority effort to identify, build, and scale the most cost-effective coaching elements that meaningfully enhance the impact of large cash transfers already reaching hundreds of thousands.They are an expert on graduation programs and strategies, and have the product skills to package this into scalable & digital formats. 

Graduation-style programs that pair cash with coaching have demonstrated strong impacts, but are often expensive, high-touch, and difficult to scale. We aim to build lean, digitally enabled, recipient-centered coaching interventions that can be layered onto large transfers at low marginal cost and deployed across countries.

This role is fundamentally entrepreneurial. You will:

• Lead deep collaborations with specific country Programs teams to design and pilot coaching models in real operational contexts
• Partner extensively with external organizations (e.g., graduation NGOs, edutainment firms, chatbot developers, researchers) to adapt and integrate best-in-class content
• Manage vendors and co-development partnerships from concept through rollout
• Translate behavioral science and coaching theory and evidence into practical, scalable delivery systems
• Test and iterate quickly within large-scale cash programs, generating high-quality evidence at speed

What you’ll do:

1) Strategy & Product Vision: Defining the Cash + Coaching Model

• Own the vision and roadmap for Cash + Coaching across content, channel, and dosage
• Distill insights from graduation, behavioral science, and digital coaching theory and research into a clear, scalable product strategy
• Define a modular “menu” of coaching components (e.g., soft skills, transfer planning, digital literacy, market linkages, savings tools) and how they layer onto large transfers
• Make principled tradeoffs between intensity and scalability — identifying what truly drives impact versus what adds cost or complexity
  
  

2) Building & Scaling User-Facing Coaching Products

• Lead development of digitally enabled coaching tools, including:
• AI or rules-based chatbots (e.g., WhatsApp-based planning and follow-through tools)
• Video-based “wise intervention” and edutainment content
• Tablet-based or volunteer-enabled digital curricula
• Develop repeatable, evidence based protocols and curriculum for light-touch in-person touch points, including 
• Training sessions to use digital products 
• Scripts and labelling at community meetings
• Market linkage interventions 
• Analogue versions of digital products for users who cannot access them 
• Translate product concepts into clear technical specifications in partnership with our internal Tech team and external vendors
• Ensure tools are designed for low-literacy, low-connectivity environments

3) Partnerships, Vendor Management & Country Pilots

• Build and manage strategic partnerships with graduation implementers, academic partners, tech and edutainment vendors 
• Evaluate when to build in-house vs. adapt or license external content 
• Lead deep-dive collaborations with country Programs teams (e.g., Rwanda, Mozambique, Malawi) to pilot and refine interventions
• Manage budgets, scopes of work, contracts, and performance of external vendors and collaborators
• Navigate tradeoffs between open collaboration and long-term scalability
  
  

4) Learning & External Positioning

• In collaboration with the research team and academic collaborators, ensure the success oversee rapid pilots and structured experiments of the coaching components you have created 
• Contribute to donor-facing strategy and sector positioning around scalable “graduation-lite” models

• Represent GiveDirectly in sector conversations on digital coaching, graduation, and cost-effective poverty reductions

GiveDirectly is seeking a strategic and results-driven Senior Director, Philanthropy to lead and grow our senior philanthropy efforts across high- and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, trusts, and foundations, including private and family foundations.

This role will be central to mobilizing flexible, values-aligned capital at meaningful scale in support of GiveDirectly’s most ambitious goals. You will own the strategy and execution of GiveDirectly’s senior philanthropy program, personally steward and close relationships with some of our most significant supporters, and work closely with the CEO on top-priority relationship management.

GiveDirectly’s philanthropy team is a lean (approximately 4–5 staff), high-performing team that consistently raises $100M+ from major individual donors. Looking ahead, GiveDirectly has set a bold ambition to deliver $5 billion directly to people living in poverty by 2035 - having reached the US$1Bn milestone in 2025. This role will be critical to expanding and diversifying our base of senior philanthropists — particularly donors from technology and finance backgrounds who value evidence, speed, and scalability — while building a durable engine for long-term growth.

This role is ideally based in the United States and requires meaningful overlap with New York working hours (minimum 4 hours daily), as well as collaboration with teams in East Africa, and the Bay Area.
