Job Summary 

GLG Research leverages the world’s leading platform for expertise, insights and intelligence to deliver comprehensive answers for complex business challenges. We combine the execution rigor and problem-solving of top-tier management consultants and market researchers with deep insights of leading industry professionals to staff bespoke client engagement teams. These engagement teams leverage GLG capabilities and are supported by a GLG Research team for thought-partnership, quality oversight and scope management. Our unique approach provides streamlined, but customizable project support to deliver in-depth actionable insights to client questions. 

We are seeking a Research Manager (expert-led Strategy & Insights) to join our APAC Research Team. The successful candidate will be supporting a range of life sciences, tech, industrial and private equity clients on a number of strategic topics, including but not limited to market mapping, voice-of-customer, commercial due diligence, and growth strategy engagements. We are looking for strategy consultant generalists who have had some exposure to the Technology and Life Sciences sectors in particular. Candidates who possess a strong fundamental consulting toolkit and a desire to apply those skills across diverse sectors are invited to apply. 

Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to): 

• Dual role supporting all aspects of client project scoping, development and closing, manage projects from start to finish and work hand-in-hand with each engagement team and client to ensure top quality level of service and deliverables 
• Lead engagement teams with market research, pitch materials preparation, report writing etc. for client pitching and project delivery 
• Develop and grow the expert-led research business through collaboration with business development and client services teams 
• Exposure to a broad range of functional responsibilities, including product development, capital allocation, sales, marketing, and operations 
• Regular exposure to the regional GLG senior management team and broader organisation, and opportunities to build strong relationships with our clients 
• The position will report to the geographic lead for ANZ research who will provide a close mentoring environment to rapidly accelerate development in ANZ. Research is a fast growing line of business at GLG which creates significant opportunities for increasing responsibilities 
• Lead Research business development initiatives to expand GLG’s footprint in the ANZ market, acting as a bridge between research delivery and commercial growth. 

An ideal candidate will have the following: 

• ~5 years’ experience at a strategy consulting or research firm 
• Experience supporting Technology and Life Sciences projects is very desirable; however, a generalist mindset and the ability to pivot across multiple industries (Tech, Industrials, etc.) is essential. 
• Solid core consulting skills, including slide-making, story-telling, client communication, stakeholder management, project management, etc. 
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional stakeholder relationships 
• Superior written and oral communication skills 
• Solid computer skills, i.e., Microsoft Office 
• Entrepreneurial zeal 
• Successful track record working in a close team environment

This role focuses on identifying top professionals who can provide industry insight and knowledge to our clients, the world’s leading financial investment firms, professional services firms, and corporations. They explain to industry professionals what it means to work with GLG and recruit them into GLG’s professional membership network, the GLG Network. In addition, they manage the relationships with new Network Members and serve as a liaison between them and the Client Solutions team within GLG.

Whether it is successfully communicating GLG’s business model to a current CEO of a major company or composing a professional biography to present to a client, the Associate role is an exciting entry-level position in a growing global firm. Specific responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
• Efficiently identify and establish consulting relationships with professionals, business executives and industry experts best suited to participate in our highest priority client inquiries;
• Grow the GLG Networks by recruiting key opinion leaders on a strategic/tactical mode, using recruiting campaigns, leveraging industry and professional lists, trade and business associations, referrals and other relationships;
• Generate discussions with prospective industry leaders where needed and capture critical data in GLG’s extensive profile management systems;
• Gauge clients’ needs and fulfil time-sensitive research requests for GLG clients by analysing client inquiries and identifying ideal target populations;
• Understand clients research workflows and objectives, and thereby partner with client facing colleagues in growing GLG client relationships by utilization of best practices when dealing with prospective and current industry experts;
• Develop a working knowledge of GLG's core industry coverage to improve project and product service quality. Develop awareness of broader industry trends/dynamics relevant to expert recruitment and client servicing;
• Work on other projects associated with building and maintaining the GLG Networks

An ideal candidate will have the following:

• Superior communication and interaction skills, including demonstrated oral, written and presentation abilities in a business-focused setting using a variety of communication channels (telephone, e-mail, in-person, etc.)
• 0-3 years of work experience preferably working in customer service / sales / head hunting / recruitment / market research
• A keen interest in learning about various industries and communicating with senior executives on a daily basis
• Bachelor's degree or higher from a top tier university

• Salary range: AUD65,000 to AUD77,000
