Montai Therapeutics, Inc., is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts and was founded in 2019 by Flagship Labs, the innovation branch of Flagship Pioneering, which is a venture capital firm that invests in biotechnology, life sciences, health and sustainability companies. The Company is a privately held company focusing on its CONECTATM platform to identify new small molecule medicines known as AnthromoleculeTM therapeutics for chronic diseases.
Montai is seeking an experienced and talented accounting professional to join a first-in-category organization. The Senior Accountant will be an instrumental player in the month end close, will be responsible developing and implementing new accounting policies and procedures to scale within the organization, provide business insights to our leaders to measure progress on company performance, and assist with enhancing companywide financial reports, including enhanced analytics, cash flow management and consolidated reporting. This role will report to the Controller.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform and assist with month-end and quarter end close accounting tasks including preparation of journal entries ensuring compliance with US GAAP
- Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
- Review of P&L accounts to resolve classification issues
- Ensure that reconciliations, supporting schedules and analysis are completed on a timely basis and in accordance with the monthly closing schedule
- Partner with Controller to develop and update annual budget and monthly forecasts
- Preparation and assistance with month end analytical review of actual versus budget/forecast
- Provide Ad-Hoc Reporting and Analysis
- Monitor and review new accounting pronouncements and implement where necessary
- Responsible for annual fixed asset observation and asset tracking
- Assists with internal and external reporting and, when applicable, with drafting and tie-out of the financial statements
- Ensures internal controls compliance for the responsible area, including implementing improvements to enhance the efficiency of current controls
- Supports the external audit firm in their annual audit
- Supports income tax provision and tax return process
- Assists with specific projects and initiatives unique to a fast-growing biotechnology start-up, such as system implementations, updates and business process improvements and other ad hoc projects
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- CPA and 2-3 years of Big Four public accounting experience is preferred
- 1-2 years of biotechnology or life science industry experience preferred
- Substantial experience with GAAP financial reporting
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Detail-oriented personality
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with NetSuite a plus
- Must have excellent analytical skills, with very strong attention to detail
- Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team setting
- Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions and different culture
- Ability to work within and meet all deadlines while executing on multiple deliverables
- Ability to identify errors and root causes of errors, develop workable solutions or alternatives
- Flexible, personable team-player, comfortable in a fast-paced, small company environment

The salary range for this role is $88,000 - $121,000. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to strengthen and scale the AWS-based infrastructure that powers our products and teams. This role is about designing the backbone that accelerates our innovation and growth. What You Will Do
- Design, build, and maintain AWS infrastructure (ECS, EC2, RDS, S3, IAM, VPC) or similar services from other cloud providers (GPC, Azure)
- Develop backend services and integration tooling to support critical systems
- Implement and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CodePipeline)
- Drive automation to ensure deployments are fast, reliable, and repeatable
- Ensure platform reliability with monitoring, logging, and alerting (CloudWatch, Sentry)
- Collaborate with team members across engineering to integrate and scale services
- Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of infrastructure issues
What We Are Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in Platform, DevOps, or Backend Infrastructure Engineering
- Strong hands-on expertise with AWS services (ECS preferred)
- Advanced Python programming skills
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK and CloudFormation, Terraform)
- Experience with CI/CD automation and production systems
- Strong grasp of reliability, scalability, and security best practices
- Experience with containers and orchestration (Docker, ECS)
- Exposure to data/ML infrastructure and supporting advanced workloads

Position Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Head of Clinical Development, reporting to our Chief Executive Officer, to have overall accountability for the development and implementation of small molecule clinical programs in the therapeutic areas of immunology/inflammation at Montai Therapeutics. We are seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, results-oriented individual with the creativity, resourcefulness, and flexibility to excel in our growing organization.
Specifically, the Head of Clinical Development will play a pivotal role in driving the successful transition of programs from research to clinical development and will contribute to shaping the clinical strategies that span from candidate discovery to human proof-of-concept. As a leader of our clinical development strategy, this role is responsible for crafting and integrating clinical development plans in alignment with research, translational, nonclinical, regulatory and strategic priorities. This individual will also ultimately oversee those responsible for supporting program operations, resource planning, and interactions with internal governance and external partners. This role is ideal for an experienced individual passionate about translating cutting-edge science into innovative medicines through rigorous, thoughtful and collaborative development planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop programmatic clinical strategy; oversee implementation of clinical programs in line with the clinical strategy and ensure patient safety and data integrity
- Collaborate closely with Project Leaders, Research, Leadership, and External Advisors/KOLs to define and refine clinical hypotheses and development strategies
- Integrate clinical plans with translational, nonclinical, and regulatory development strategies to enable seamless progression from exploratory studies to FIH trials
- In collaboration with R&D colleagues, drive and/or oversee the design, execution, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of early stage and more advanced clinical studies in a matrixed and highly collaborative team environment
- Incorporate regulatory input, operational feasibility, and real-world data to ensure robust and executable development strategies
- Serve as a Medical Monitor (to include clinical pharmacology, including first in human, DDI, proof of mechanism/concept) for early and possibly more advanced clinical studies; serve as Project Team Leader for clinical stage programs
- Assess trade-offs and build alignment with team members to enable informed programmatic decision-making
- Support development and implementation of program biomarker plans and ensure successful implementation at study sites
- Lead/author clinical portions of regulatory submissions and responses to regulatory agency questions; as appropriate, serve as a company representative for regulatory interactions
- Proactively identify and address development risks and bottlenecks, drive resolution across functional interfaces
- Oversee growing internal and external clinical operations functions and support, including cross-functional leadership and collaboration with quality, CROs, regulatory, and medical writing teams
Required Experience:
- MD or MD, PhD with at least 8+ years of relevant experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, including significant small molecule drug development work
- Educational and/or industry background in immunology and inflammation
- Prior experience as a functional leader (e.g., early clinical development, clinical pharmacology, translational/ experimental medicine)
- Broad understanding of biopharmaceutical drug development, including working knowledge of relevant ICH and GCP guidelines and regulations
- Proficiency in developing and nurturing key partnerships and collaborations with external parties, including investigators, KOLs, CROs, and the broader scientific community (including academia, governmental, or nonprofit organizations), as well as internal discovery and preclinical functions
- Record of significant and successful contributions to regulatory submissions, including INDs or CTAs, and regulatory agency interactions
- Experience managing collaborations with consultants, pharmaceutical partners, CROs, and other external organizations is desirable
- Aptitude in serving as a subject matter expert and mentor across the organization
- Clear, and excellent written and oral communication skills
- Experience delivering effective presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proven leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate and convey strategic implications to diverse stakeholders
- History of attracting, retaining, and developing world-class talent
- Strong strategic thinking and critical thinking skills for identifying and addressing bottlenecks while optimizing cross-functional processes
